Chapter 19: Chapter 19 - Seraphine...

The next day, Adam was walking through the mansion’s hallways toward the outside with a specific destination in mind.

Ravenna had told him a few minutes earlier that his sister Seraphine was waiting to share tea with him again—something that, apparently, was turning into a little tradition between them after that first time.

Adam glanced sideways at Ravenna as they walked together down the hallway, since she had been acting strange since yesterday; she was quieter than usual and wore an expression on her face that he couldn’t quite decipher. It wasn’t exactly annoyance, but it wasn’t her usual calm either.

"Did something happen when Layla asked you to clean... whatever it was she asked you to clean?" he asked directly as they turned a corner.

Ravenna glanced at him for a second before quickly shaking her head. "It was nothing, Your Excellency."

Her voice sounded normal, with that usual calm, but Adam didn’t believe it for a single second. Something was definitely bothering her for her to act that way.

But before he could press her further on the matter, they reached the outer garden, where Seraphine was waiting, seated at the same table as always, with the tea already prepared.

"Brother." She greeted him with the calm smile she always carried, gesturing with her hand toward the chair across from her. "Sit."

He simply nodded and took his seat, while Ravenna remained standing a few meters away, in her usual waiting position.

Seraphine poured the tea into both cups with elegance before sliding one toward Adam. "I hope I didn’t interrupt anything important."

"Nothing that couldn’t wait." Adam replied as he took the cup and sipped from it. He still didn’t like the taste of tea, but at least he had gotten used to it.

Then they talked for a few minutes about relatively normal things: how he felt after the duel with Dorian, what he expected from the academy, whether he had packed everything necessary for the trip.

A completely normal conversation between siblings who were only just beginning to truly get to know each other.

It was during a pause in the conversation that the system decided to remind him of something.

[Tamer System]

[Host, don’t you want to see your sister’s stats? You just have to think "status" while looking at her]

’I forgot I could do that...’

[There are many things you can do that you don’t know about yet... but yes, you can see basic information about other people if you concentrate]

’Interesting.’ Adam thought before focusing his attention on his sister while thinking "Status".

At that moment, a translucent screen appeared beside Seraphine, visible only to his eyes.

[Name: Seraphine Shadowend]

[Age: 18 years]

[Magic: S- Rank]

Adam was completely stunned by that.

’S minus rank?’ he thought as he reread the information several times to make sure he wasn’t seeing it wrong. ’She’s almost at S rank in magic?’ The system had told him she was considered a prodigy, but this... was far more than he had expected.

That was... absurd. S rank was something only the most powerful people in the world achieved. Legendary mages, war heroes, individuals who could single-handedly change the course of entire battles...

And Seraphine, his barely eighteen-year-old sister, was one step away from reaching that level.

’This world has changed way too much...’ Adam thought with a mix of surprise and concern. ’If she’s already this strong at her age, how powerful are the other important characters in this novel?’

[We could say... quite powerful. That’s why it’s necessary for you to give it your all when you arrive at the academy]

Seraphine noticed that Adam had been staring at her fixedly for quite a while now, and a mischievous smile formed on her lips as she tilted her head slightly.

"Did Layla’s gift turn you into a pervert for looking at me like that?" she asked in a playful tone while taking a sip of her own tea.

Adam snapped out of his thoughts and looked at her confused. "What are you talking about?"

She let out a soft laugh before answering. "It’s no secret that you slept with both of the new girls Layla sent you yesterday."

The extremely direct and casual way she said it caught Adam completely off guard. He hadn’t expected the topic to come up so suddenly.

"Coming from our older sister, it was to be expected, I suppose." Seraphine continued while laughing lightly and waving her hand carelessly. "I apologize for that. Layla has a... peculiar sense of humor."

Adam simply looked at her in silence, not knowing exactly what to respond to that.

It was then that he felt a piercing gaze stabbing into his back. When he turned his head, he only saw Ravenna standing exactly the same way, with a completely calm expression on her face, as if she hadn’t done anything at all.

But Adam knew better than anyone that the sensation coming from her direction had been real.

’Ah...’ he thought with resignation. ’That’s why she was acting strange.’

He could only sigh in defeat at the situation as he turned back toward Seraphine, who was watching everything with clear amusement in her eyes.

"Anyway." She said, changing the subject smoothly as she set her cup down on the table. "Let’s talk about something more important."

Adam looked at her attentively as she leaned back slightly in her chair and observed him with a more serious expression than before.

"You have the potential to be much stronger than you are now," she said calmly, but with a firm tone. "Your fight with Dorian proved it. In just one month you managed to improve to the point of being able to give battle to an academy instructor, even if only briefly."

Adam listened to her in silence, simply nodding.

"I would like you to use all of that potential in your first year at the academy." Seraphine continued as a small smile appeared on her lips.

"I’ll go a year later, when I turn nineteen. And by the time that happens, I want my big little brother to be someone imposing there. Someone people talk about. That would be... fun for me."

There was something in the way she said it that made it clear it wasn’t just a casual wish. Seraphine really wanted to see him become strong, even if her exact reasons weren’t entirely clear.

Maybe it was family pride. Maybe it was simply curiosity about how far he could grow. Or maybe there was something more behind her words that Adam hadn’t grasped yet.

But honestly, he didn’t care too much.

The idea of becoming someone imposing at the academy, of standing out among all the other students and making people respect him—or fear him—was something that... he liked.

It reminded him of his previous life when he was the heir of Red Moon and everyone knew they shouldn’t mess with him.

A malicious smile formed on Adam’s face as he looked straight into his sister’s eyes.

"I accept the challenge." He said with a firm and confident voice.

Seraphine smiled back at him, clearly satisfied with his response. "Excellent. Then I expect great things from you, brother."

She said that while raising her teacup in a silent toast that Adam returned, clinking his own cup against hers.

"To your future at the academy." Seraphine said.

"To your future at the academy." Adam repeated with a faint smile.

Both drank from their cups as the afternoon sun began to slowly descend on the horizon.

From behind, Ravenna watched the scene with that same calm expression, but her thoughts were complete chaos.

’Two girls.’ She thought while lightly clenching her fists without anyone noticing. ’He slept with two girls.’

She knew it shouldn’t bother her; he was her master, he could do whatever he wanted with whoever he wanted. She was just a personal maid, nothing more.

But even so...

’Two girls...’ she repeated mentally with frustration.

Adam felt that piercing gaze on his back again, but this time he decided to completely ignore it. He would deal with that later.

For now he had more important things to think about.

One more day and he would be on his way to the royal capital.
