Reincarnated With The Van Helsing System-Chapter 716: Challenges, Alabaster Horned Dolphin Princess Version (part 3)
Seeing the arrogant gaze on the earth affinity snake’s eyes as Lyn was "buried" in a rain of rock shards, death nether and devil mana, Rendon couldn’t help but say.
’You fool, don’t stop attacking her, this is nowhere near enough to...’, unfortunately the earth affinity snake had missed the golden time to actually be able to cause even the slightest bit of trouble to Lyn.
"Crack!", a loud shattering sound echoed through the sky before the mountain of debris which had feel upon the sky-blue haired girl had an area of around fifteen meters of diameter, explode, when compared to the whole length of around seventy meters of height of the debris mountain, the space blasted away by Lyn looked small.
However, an interesting detail became visible now that the sky-blue haired girl had come out of it, the inside of the mountain of debris was hollow up to around forty meters, that and the fact that Lyn came out completely unscathed gave Rendon a reason to complain to the earth affinity snake.
’See, I told you, you damn fool, no matter how strong of a spell you use, to actually get past that woman’s defense the most realistic method is to immediately launch a second spell towards her!’, he said.
The reason for the previous is simple, to begin with, Lyn’s body is always protected as she uses her "rhythm" to reject external interference, regardless of whether she is actively using her energy or not.
And then, the blue energy rings amplify that, in other words even when she is attacking, she is also defending, if it were other members of her race this would also apply but at a much weaker ratio since they use either their arms or legs as the gathering point for their mana or battle aura, but Lyn innately can use her whole body alongside her affinity without hurting herself, so her defense is essentially as strong as her attack power.
"I expected more considering how fancy that whole altar ritual thing looked, but to think a twenty percent amplifying ring was enough to fend off your spell when even Claire required a fifty percent output, what a letdown", said Lyn as she waved her hand making the hollow mountain of debris collapse the next second.
Despite the previous, no loud sound was produced because the rocks, nether and devil mana crumbled into fine dust and particles before even touching the ground, Lyn had quite literally demolished the enemy’s attack into nothing.
And she used such an insignificant amount of energy for it, that it made Rendon curse to his insides.
’Fucking monstrous bitch’, he couldn’t understand how was Lyn pulling something like that, considering how much nether the earth snake had used for his previous spell, one thing is being monstrously strong and another thing is basically not needing to pay any price in exchange for said strength.
And while Rendon was lost in his thoughts, his "body companion" charged towards the enemy driven by the anger that Lyn’s words caused by insulting him.
"Black Death Heavy Mountain Charge!", the snake’s body exploded in black-brown nether which then took the form of a giant mountain that enveloped the earth affinity snake’s body.
"Humph!", with a soft snort, Lyn made blue energy rings appear around her ankles and wrists to then flash towards the incoming enemy as she bent her right arm backwards preparing herself to attack.
"Clang!", the moment the nether mountain cladded snake clashed against Lyn’s right fist the sound of metals colliding as well as sparks were produced, which made the snake smirk the pressure on his spell was immense, but it was holding out well.
At least until Lyn tightened her fist making the blue energy ring around her wrist shot frontwards as she said.
"Don’t tell me you believe yourself to be the only one capable of using techniques", which in other words meant that the snake was only... holding out against Lyn’s energy enhanced fist, she wasn’t using a technique yet.
"Explosive Echo Fist", but she changed that the next second when the blue energy ring made contact with the nether mountain which was cladding the earth affinity snake.
"Crack!", under the eyes of disbelief of the enemy, cracks appeared on the nether mountain on the spot before it crumbled apart, but it wasn’t the time for the snake to focus on that as the shouts coming from Rendon suggested.
"Fool hurry up and defend!", the reason for the previous was that while the blue energy ring around Lyn’s right wrist was used to destroy the nether mountain, Lyn still had the one around her left wrist.
"Booooom!", and then with a thrust of her left arm, the sky-blue haired girl released a huge shockwave which fully landed on the earth affinity snake’s body the next second.
"Aghhh!", the impact sent the more than fifty meters large snake flying into the distance to then heavily crash onto the ground.
"Tsk", that being said, Lyn wasn’t satisfied with the result, she aimed to blast a hole through the snake’s body but Rendon’s warning this time was actually of help, so the earth affinity snake injected nether into the bone armor which was covering it’s body at the last second, helping it deviate a part of the impact of her shockwave, so Lyn’s attack didn’t go through the enemy’s body.
The power of the attack was no joke though, which is why the snake was still sent flying, if it was a flesh and blood living being, you could be sure that the snake would have blood forced out of its mouth due to the previous.
Still, it’s not like Lyn didn’t have anything in mind as follow up, the blue energy rings around her ankles shone and next the sky-blue haired girl had appeared above the earth affinity snake who was only recovering from the shock now.
But she wasn’t the only one, the ice affinity snake in other words Rendon who had remained at distance finally stepped in, because he couldn’t leave his other half die as that would put his own life at risk.
"Black Devil Ice, Frostbite Raising Fangs!", taking a page from Lyn’s book, Rendon used an attack spell for defense, also since the cat was out of the bag, he didn’t bother to shorten the "devil" part in the name of his spell, this way he could redirect the focus he put in that into accelerating the cast of the spell.
Which was quite useful as that extra bit of speed allowed him to interrupt Lyn’s follow up, the ice mana that poured out of the ice affinity snake’s body condensed into black ice spikes which blocked Lyn’s way.
"Crack!", naturally the fierce alabaster dolphin princess didn’t stop just because some sharp looking black ice spikes appeared between herself and the enemy, she used her left leg to kick the raising ice spikes.
"Booom!", as expected Lyn’s shockwave crushed the incoming ice spikes into thin ice dust, but the spikes that advanced towards her had bought Rendon enough time to make some static ice spikes surround the snake’s body in order to protect it.
"Hssssss!", and that wasn’t all, apparently Rendon’s spell didn’t include the word "frostbite" in its name just to make it sound threatening, the area of Lyn’s leg which had made contact with the ice spikes, in other words her shin, started being covered by black ice after a second.
"Humph", of course with a single pulse of the blue energy ring around her ankle Lyn destroyed the black ice which was trying to invade her body, before she thrusted her right arm frontwards.
"Boooom!", the shockwave which she created travelled through the air to then land in the "cupule" of black ice spikes ahead of her, blasting it into pieces, but by this time the snake had already disappeared.
’Well, at least that Rendon bastard did actually improve his game a bit’, thought the sky-blue haired girl, he changed to use spells which weren’t focused in trying to kill the enemy but to stall, and it worked.
Speaking of Rendon, the snake which had dived into the ground at Rendon’s order, reached the three-hundred-meter mark before Rendon stopped moving.
’Will you listen to me now, you blood specter bastard, you have no idea how terrifying that damn woman is, but I do, in her prime, forget about me, she had a fifty percent chance to defeat and a thirty percent chance to kill the guy I followed back then if she were to fight him seriously!’, he exclaimed.
Naturally he was referring to the White Disaster Shark’s representative Dian, and that is a lot to say considering that he is a... confirmed Throne heir similar to Ophelia and he also was at the same realm as her, which albeit not that much was still higher than that of Lyn.
In other words, even with all the advantages on his side, in a fight, the chances of Dian defeating Lyn were the same as a flip coin, so if they were to be in equal terms, Lyn would have easily suppressed him, just like Ophelia did back then forcing Dian to escape by using Agrak as bait.
’Then, what do you suggest we should do?’, asked the earth affinity snake after shaking his head a couple of times to shake off the slight sensation of dizziness that was dulling his response time.
Like previously stated, Lyn might pass as a violent muscle head but she is actually really good at using her brain, many times her enemies thought that they were simply shocked by the strength behind her fists, but the truth is that she also disoriented them with her vibration mana, or well energy in this case.
By doing that, she slowed the response time of the enemy thus allowing her to overwhelm the enemy, had Rendon been a fraction of a second later, Lyn would have blasted a hole through the earth snake’s body.
’We change the way we fight, since you went and rushed things up, she must have already analyzed our usual dynamic, so we have to play things differently from this point onwards if we want to win’, said Rendon.
Normally, these two don’t fight together, one fights with their respective style while using the mana, energy or nether of the other who simply watches over the fight, in other words the other is there just to act as an extra set of spells and energy reserves.
And Lyn indeed already confirmed that as she analyzed the way the earth snake took mana from the ice snake’s magic core, because the earth snake unlike Rendon who only borrowed the earth snake’s affinity, the latter took some of Rendon’s mana when he tried to bury Lyn alive. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
’Fine, just this one time’, said the earth affinity snake, at this point it was obvious that these two weren’t together out of their own will, but we can leave that subject for later, because right now the ground above them started trembling and cracking.
’She is coming for us, my ice can absorb the vibrations of her attacks better than your earth, so I’ll focus in defending and interrupting her attack pattern, you simply go all out with attacks, remember, a single attack at the time is basically useless, throw continuous spells her way!’, instructed Rendon in a rush.
"Boooom!", just in time for the solid black soil roof above them to explode as Lyn descended from the surface.
"You two bastards really dived quite deep into the ground", said the alabaster dolphin princess with a slightly annoyed voice as she thrusted her right fist frontwards.
"Black Devil Ice Wall!", like they had discussed, Rendon immediately casted a thick multi-layered defensive spell, which blocked Lyn’s shockwave from reaching them.
"Crack!", of course Lyn’s attack made the black ice wall crumble apart on the spot but when she reached those two’s previous position, Lyn realized that they were gone, this time their retreat path was upwards, meaning that they had returned to the surface.
With a light tap of her right foot which had a blue energy ring around its ankle, Lyn flashed from her previous position to then appear on the surface and the very moment she was out of the giant crater which she had created to reach the enemy, she saw a giant "wave" of black soil and black-brown nether be about to break upon her.
"Black Death, Burial Tsunami!", accompanied by the earth snake’s voice, the giant wave of black soil and nether descended upon Lyn who answered by making a blue energy ring appear around her right wrist.
"Boooom!", Lyn’s shockwave clashed against the black soil tsunami and blasted a hole through it, which also caused the integrity of the spell to fail thus making it explode in every direction.
This time however, the earth snake was following Rendon’s advice, so he had a second attack ready by the moment Lyn had destroyed the first one.
"Black Death Raising Stalactite Spear!", the very moment the snake casted his spell, a single giant black rock spear raised from below Lyn’s feet, directly reaching her the next second.
"Clang!", of course the blue energy ring in her back trembled as blue energy covered Lyn’s skin stopping the stalactite spear from piercing through Lyn’s stomach.
She was thrown upwards into the air due to the impact though, where a large black ice block was waiting for her.
’Tsk, to think two consecutive attacks were still not enough to pierce through her defense, fucking monster’, thought Rendon as he made the giant black ice block descend upon Lyn.
"Black Devil Ice Crushing Iceberg!", unfortunately the scene of Lyn being squashed by the giant block of black ice which Rendon expected to see, didn’t happen, instead Lyn simply made the blue energy ring around her right wrist pulse and with that she flashed sidewards completely avoiding the enemy’s attack.
"So now one of you is fully focusing on the offensive while the other offers support, not bad, however you are too slow and your coordination sucks", casually said Lyn as she gracefully landed on the ground a few hundreds of meters away from the enemy.
Despite having been tied with each other for quite a long time, those two have never worked together, so of course their team play was in diapers, of course it’s not like there is no way to improve in a short period of time.
"Blac Devil Ice, Hell Tundra!", following what the earth affinity snake did earlier, the ice affinity one also used his manifestation phenomenon, but it wasn’t with the purpose of pressuring the enemy, but to enhance the spell Rendon just used.
"Hssssss!", cold mist raised from the ground as everything in the vicinity started being covered in black ice, resulting in a frozen wasteland kind of area being created out of nowhere.
Unlike the wide area spells used by the earth snake however, this one wasn’t meant to be used for offensive means, the large body of the snake lit up in black cold mana which reacted to the frozen wasteland allowing the snake to slide at an insanely fast speed.
"Black Death Quicksand Devastation!", the earth snake which had appeared behind of Lyn using the frozen surface to move at high speed even without the need of a movement spell, exploded in black brown mana which was then injected into the ground.
The black soil around Lyn suddenly trembled before the solid ground lost its integrity, turning into a massive sand pit, of course just loosing a solid footing wasn’t enough to cause troubles to Lyn so the earth affinity snake continued with the spell that went along with the previous one.
"Black Death Suffocating Dessert Burial!", now the black sand created by the snake gained life and raised high into the sky engulfing Lyn on the spot, and unlike before, Rendon came right in time to follow up.
"Black Devil Ice Prison!", the raising pilar of black sand was then encompassed by cold black ice further compressing the sand, but those two hadn’t finished yet they now planned to cast attack spells to crush the cage they had created in order to land a proper hit on the enemy.
"Earth Shattering Seal", or at least that was the idea until Lyn’s voice interrupted their plans.
"Booooom!", the frozen sand pillar exploded on the spot, sending thin ice dust as well as further pulverized sand grains flying all over the place, what’s more those two lost Lyn from sight for a moment there.
"Explosive Echo Fist".
"Seismic Step".
In a beautiful skill demonstration, the alabaster dolphin princess had blue energy rings appear around her right wrist and ankle, to then punch towards the earth affinity snake before she stomped her right foot at the ice affinity one.
"Crack!", the manifestation phenomenon of those two were blasted away on the spot, then the scales around the area at which Lyn had aimed with her attacks exploded, and only now did they manage to react while gritting their teeth to force themselves to endure the pain they immediately casted defensive spells.
"Black Devil Ice Shield!", the body of the ice affinity snake was covered in a thin layer of black ice.
"Black Death Mountain Wall!", then a black-brown nether mountain covered the earth affinity snake.
This was before the shockwave of Lyn’s attacks went off, which happened the next second.
"Booooom!", two equally deafening impacts echoed through the sky as the snake’s body had two dents appear before it was sent flying into the distance.
"Aghhhh!", this time both Rendon and the earth affinity snake screamed due to pain, naturally Lyn didn’t wait for them to recover their breath and instantly flashed to finish the one she didn’t need answers from, off, in other words she was aiming for the earth affinity snake.
"Clang!", however she was blocked midway by an invisible wall which she honestly didn’t expect to appear, as in the energy firm behind of it wasn’t that of Rendon who hasn’t used an altar spell yet, but the one from the earth affinity snake.
’Hey, if you had achieved a second form you should have said so from the very beginning you blood specter... bastard’, Rendon who was in the middle of scolding the earth affinity snake suddenly stopped to look downwards at the neck area of the ice affinity snake where a black stalactite which raised from the ground was now lodged, in other words, the earth affinity snake had attacked his own ally.
All this under Lyn’s now interested gaze on the earth affinity snake.
"Well, I can’t say this is unexpected but the timing does indeed not match what I had calculated", mumbled the alabaster dolphin princess who remained still as she was blocked from advancing due to the invisible barrier.
