Using an identification scroll, Xu Feng confirmed the shard was indeed a fragment of an Ancient Relic that was connected to the Dark World.

The Dark World was the place that most Demons resided in and an expansion pack of an update from the near future.

What made the fragment special was that it contained traces of power to conduct transportation between worlds.

In other words, the Demon Race wasn’t infiltrating their world yet. Instead, Melvin simply got lucky and ended up in this world, who was now trapped.

"The shard can’t be used anymore. It ran out of power." Xu Feng chuckled and dumped the fragment into his inventory. Melvin was just too retarded to realize he was a goner as he mistakenly believed he could still use the spatial rift crack.

Either way, Xu Feng’s determination to eliminate such a dangerous variable peaked.

"Flint, trace that bastard and eliminate him." Xu Feng coldly commanded.

Flint nodded his head and flew off the horizon, determined to accomplish the command from his owner.

While Flint flew away, Xu Feng spent another few minutes scouring the camp. He took the things that were valuables. Once that was done, he cast Sacred Fire and burned off all trails and traces of Melvin.

As he watched the flame intensify, Xu Feng’s expression was rather dark.

Initially, he was just coming here for a detour, but never did he expect to stumble into such a large malignant tumor.

Thankfully, he discovered it early on. Otherwise, he can’t even imagine the consequences that would affect his current progress.

Sometime later, Xu Feng teleported back to Willowbrook Village. The moment he returned, he saw the disguised villagers engaging in a heavy confrontation with the guards.

"Damn it, Otis! You goddamn liar!"

"Barely any guards around my ass! We’ve lost 3 of our brothers already, all thanks to you, Otis!"

The disguised villagers all shouted and cursed at Otis for the big misjudgment that resulted in their current demise.

Feeling wronged, Otis didn’t even know how it happened. He couldn’t even get a chance to defend himself when another guard took the chance of his distraction to advance further.

"Damn it." Otis gnashed his teeth and wondered how everything was going wrong.

Just when Otis thought things couldn’t get any worse, an elderly man suddenly rushed toward him. Behind him was a flying creature capable of breathing molten rock.

And when the elderly man spotted Otis, his expression was filled with wrath as he shouted, "OTIS! GO TO HELL!"

"What?" Startled, Otis turned around, only to end up being pierced through the heart by a heavy sword. Never once did he expect an elderly man to be capable of such speed and deathly attack.

However, he was more shocked as to why the elderly man was killing him.

Luckily, before his death, he heard a voice coming from afar.

"Ah, Melvin possessed a dead old man. What a shame that he’s going to die a second time." Xu Feng mused, watching Flint stomp the living hell out of Melvin, who could no longer resist.

Melvin crashed to the ground, his eyes still glaring fiercely at Otis in the face of death, who was the reason for his demise.

’This angry elderly man is Melvin?’ Otis coughed up a mouthful of blood and collapsed to the ground. He might have known who the killer was, but he would never know the reason for it.

Soon, many more followed Otis as they fell one by one to their death. From start to finish, these insurgents couldn’t do any damage to Willowbrook Village.

And all of that was because of Xu Feng’s plan.

"Your plan worked, Sir." The leader of the guards, Conrad, walked to him and praised. "We manage to eradicate them all in one fell swoop."

"It’s my pleasure to ensure the peace of the village." Xu Feng smiled and nodded.

Ever since he was informed that the insurgents were in disguise by Flint, he had already begun orchestrating a misbelief that the village would be defenseless.

As for how the guards avoided detection by the insurgents, there was a secret passage right under the village.

It was built as a means of protection against large-scale monster invasions. And being prepared truly paid off big time. Thanks to that, the insurgents all delivered themselves to their deaths.

"Guard Conrad, I’ll excuse myself now that this situation is finished." Xu Feng said. "Fiona is still expecting me."

Pleased, Conrad patted his shoulders. "Go do what you must. The village won’t forget your contribution to this crisis."

Sometime later, Xu Feng returned to Forgefire Blacksmith, only to encounter Thorin outside.

"Well well well, look who it is," Thorin smirked and glanced at Xu Feng. "Tell the truth. How did you do it?"

"Do what?"

"Don’t act dumb. How did you figure out who the insurgents are and bait them in a specific location?" Thorin rolled his eyes.

The trap was so well done that Thorin found it baffling to believe Xu Feng was able to implement it in a short span of time. Not only were the insurgents all rounded up in one place, but there were zero casualties from the villagers and guards.

"It’s called using the brain." Xu Feng mused and pointed at his brain. "Those people camping on the outskirts of the village meant they wanted something here. Then what’s better than to let them have it while believing it was safe to act?"

A second later, Thorin began laughing loudly and threw a trinket toward him. "Take it. You deserved it for your effort."

Accepting the trinket, Xu Feng quickly received a system prompt that the mission was completed and he got the reward, the Void-Forged Trinket. Your journey continues on novelbuddy

"Since you resolved the village’s crisis, I won’t be hostile toward you anymore. You can have access to my daughter’s stash of equipment, but don’t you think they would be cheap! It’ll cost you the village’s merit coins to purchase them." Thorin declared and entered the blacksmith, not giving Xu Feng a chance to respond.

Meanwhile, Xu Feng’s eyes were locked in on the mission, along with a new currency.
