REINCARNATION OF THE STRONGEST WAR HERO-Chapter 316: A Storm
Chianxu felt it first.
The air. It grew heavy.
No...
It felt like her lungs were being crushed from the inside.
Hueng Long’s killing intent surged outward like a tidal wave. The corridor trembled. Cracks spidered along the polished floor beneath his feet. The lanterns hanging along the walls flickered violently.
Chianxu staggered back, her chest tightening. "M... Master... P... please stop...!" she forced out, clutching her throat. "Right now, we must focus on saving him!"
The killing intent thickened for a split second more.
Then....
It vanished.
Like a blade returning to its sheath, Hueng Long stood still, his face rigid, veins faintly visible along his temple.
The fury had not disappeared yet.
It had merely been restrained.
"Tell your father," Hueng said calmly, though his voice carried suppressed rage, "to gather all the elders. And summon the two Guardians."
Chianxu straightened immediately. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
"And tell him to inform the other family heads as well," he continued, "to come here with their strongest fighters."
Her eyes widened. "But Master... won’t it be too late by then?"
Hueng’s gaze turned cold. "It’s surely those evil spirit families who did it. They know what Logan stands for."
His voice lowered. "So until his true power is unlocked, even they cannot use him." The corridor fell silent. "And they won’t kill him until they get their hands on what they want," Hueng continued. "And I cannot win against four Martial Sovereigns alone anyway. If they dared take this step, the three Evil Spirit Families are likely cooperating."
His fists clenched slowly. "We need to gather all our strength first. Only then will we move."
Chianxu bowed deeply. "Understood, Master."
She turned and rushed away without another word.
Hueng Long remained alone in the corridor.
His eyes lifted toward the distant mountain peaks outside.
"Young Master..." he murmured quietly. "Just hold on for some time. As long as I breathe... no one will harm you."
Meanwhile in the Chong Family Residence...
The atmosphere was tense.
Min Chong sat cross-legged upon a silk cushion, his expression calm but calculating.
In front of him, one man paced back and forth restlessly.
"Calm down, Shahan," Min Chong said evenly. "They will bring the boy without fail."
The man pacing was none other than Shahan Chong, one of the senior elders of the Chong Family.
"What if someone from the Five Spirit Families intervenes?" Shahan snapped. "Those four guardians, they are strong, yes. But not invincible. And if the guardians are caught while bringing him? Those from the five Spirit families will come knocking at our door."
Min Chong fell silent. After several seconds, his eyes sharpened.
"Go," he ordered. "Inform the other two Family Heads from the evil Spirit Families."
Shahan stopped pacing.
"Tell them I require an urgent meeting. The boy who is about to receive the inheritance will be in my possession soon. If they wish to ascend to the Upper Heavens, they will follow my lead."
A faint smirk curved at the edge of Min’s lips.
"And tell them to bring their strongest fighters, too. We should be ready if any situation develops."
Shahan nodded gravely. "I will leave immediately then, master."
The doors shut behind him as he left the room hurriedly.
Min Chong leaned back slightly.
"The spirit mountain is going to be chaotic soon..." he muttered.
Time continued to pass.
Suddenly....
Knock! Knock!
The door echoed softly.
"You may enter," Min said.
The doors opened. Four towering figures stepped inside. One of them carried Logan over his shoulder as if he were a sack of grain.
Min Chong’s gaze locked onto the unconscious boy.
"Impressive, the honourable guardians. I knew you could do it with ease. Even so, did you encounter any resistance?" he asked calmly.
"No," the eldest of the four guardians replied.
"That’s good," Min said with relief. "I apologize for troubling you with such a simple task, but this matter could not afford failure."
The guardian’s eyes narrowed slightly. "If you had sent anyone else," he said, "they would not have returned in one piece."
Min Chong stiffened. "He is that strong?"
"Yes." The guardian’s tone turned serious. "He is merely a Martial Saint. Yet Reily was pushed back twice."
Silence filled the chamber.
Min Chong’s face paled slightly. "I see... Then it was wise to seek your assistance."
He stood and bowed faintly, despite being the Family Head.
Though he was the family head, before these four...
He was nothing.
He himself had reached Martial Sovereign, but these four were pillars who had long stepped into that realm. The gap between these four guardians and him was like the distance between heaven and earth.
"Very well," the eldest guardian said. "Now that he is here, imprison him properly. Use formation. I don’t need to remind you how strong he is. But he can wield magic, too."
Min nodded immediately. "Of course."
After that, Min Chong led them to the underground through the stairs.
The underground chamber of the Chong Family was cold and dim. Stone walls reinforced with layered formations lined the corridor.
When they reached the destination, ten iron cells stood in a row before them. Five guards were stationed permanently.
The moment Min Chong arrived, all five of them kneeled instantly and showed respect.
"Imprison him," Min ordered calmly while pointing toward Logan.
"And activate a Level Three Suppression Formation. I want him to be unable to use any type of energy."
The guardian carrying Logan stepped forward and threw his body.
Thud!
Logan’s battered body hit the stone floor.
He remained unconscious. Pale. Blood dried along his face. His breathing shallow.
"Also.... Bring a healer," Min added coldly. "If he dies... You die with him."
The guards shuddered.
"Yes, Master!"
The guardians turned and left with Min Chong.
Behind them, the heavy prison doors slammed shut.
A formation circle lit up around the cell Logan was thrown into.
Time ticked by, dark clouds gathering in the sky. A storm was about to come. A storm that would shake the entire spirit mountain that had been silent for ages.
