Chapter 318: The Three Evil Spirit Families

A long time had passed, and it was already night.

The sky above the Evil Spirit territory had long turned heavy.

Thick clouds gathered unnaturally, blotting out even the faintest trace of moonlight.

Within the Chong Family’s main hall, silence pressed down like a physical weight. Min Chong sat at the head of the hall, his expression calm.

Behind him stood the Four Guardians. The four Martial Sovereigns who had captured Logan this morning. Their presence alone made the air tremble faintly.

One wore black armor etched with crimson veins that pulsed faintly, as though something alive slithered beneath the metal.

Another had pale eyes devoid of emotion.

The third was the leader, the oldest among them. He had silver hair and a crooked face.

The fourth remained completely covered in a dark robe, face hidden.

None of them spoke. They did not need to.

Their auras alone were enough.

Around them, the members of the Chong Family had gathered — eight Martial Emperors standing in two lines, behind them dozens of Martial Saints and Martial Kings.

No one dared whisper too loudly.

One member of the Chong family entered the hall and announced, "They have arrived."

The main door of the hall opened slowly.

The Feng Family entered first.

At their head walked Yuhe Feng. Tall. Broad-shouldered. His hair tied back tightly. His eyes burned with restrained fury.

Behind him, more than twenty members followed. Three of them were martial sovereigns. Seven were martial emperors.

The moment they stepped into the hall, the temperature seemed to drop.

Yuhe’s gaze immediately locked onto Min Chong. "Min Chong, you sly bastard! How dare you scheme behind our backs?" he asked coldly.

Min Chong did not rise. "Just take your seat, Yuhe. Once everyone arrives, you will have your answers."

Yuhe wanted to act immediately, but the person standing next to him whispered something into his ear. Yuhe snorted and took the seat designated for him, still seething with rage.

He had already declared that he wanted Logan dead. But someone already taking action, and without even notifying him — he couldn’t accept that.

Moments later, another ripple of aura approached.

The Shin Family.

Tian Shin walked in calmly, his hands behind his back. His expression was composed, calculating.

Behind him stood more than fifteen members.

Two Martial Sovereigns. Six Martial Emperors.

He didn’t say anything and took his seat instead.

Someone closed the door to the hall. A heavy, suffocating pressure spread.

Twelve Martial Sovereigns. Twenty-one Martial Emperors. That alone was enough to flatten the whole world in mere seconds. And there were more — those martial saints and martial kings. They weren’t something to be taken lightly as well.

All gathered in one place.

For centuries, the Three Evil Spirit Families had maintained an appearance of balance.

Hidden. Restrained.

But tonight, that mask had slipped. They weren’t here just to stand against the spirit families; they were here to settle scores with the Chong family, too.

Murmurs rose among the lower members.

"Master Yuhe looks so angry. What happened? Are we having a fight amongst each other?"

"You didn’t know? Brother Lin Feng and two more of our family members were killed by that boy named Logan. Master wanted to punish him, but the family head of the Chong family has captured him, and now wants to use him to control us."

Yuhe started first. "Min Chong, everyone is here now. Out with it already." He said sharply.

Min Chong’s lips curved faintly. "Alright then. I know you have grudges against that boy, Yuhe. But it’s not like only your family members were killed. Also, you can’t deny that we need him to ascend to the upper heaven. You wanted to torture him, get what we all need, and then kill him. But I have better plans. You know what our family specializes in. I want to control him, turn him into a disposable but strong toy. And don’t forget." He paused for a bit before saying. "Very, very strong toy."

All knew what kind of monstrous talent Logan was. So anyone with the strings to control him? That would turn the balance of power totally upside down. Whether it was against the five Spirit families or the other two evil spirit families, no one would stand a chance against them.

The hall quieted instantly. Min Chong rose slowly.

His gaze swept across the gathered powerhouses. "That boy, I already have him in my grasp. So it’s not like you have a different option left," he began calmly.

"But don’t worry. It’s not like I am turning against you. But if you also want to go to the upper heaven, you know what you have to do, right?"

Silence.

Then...

"What?" One of the Feng elders stiffened.

Yuhe’s eyes narrowed dangerously, his veins bulging. "You are not being serious, are you? You think you can control us? Dream on, Min Chong."

Min Chong didn’t get angry at that.

"Don’t make it sound so harsh, Yuhe. Control you? Why would I want that? It’s just that, from time to time, I may need some help. You won’t deny helping me, right?" He said with a chuckle.

’This sly old bastard.’ Meanwhile, Tian thought, not throwing any tantrum. ’He really got us this time.’

Meanwhile, deep beneath the Chong estate...

Logan’s eyelids trembled. Then slowly, they opened.

Dim torchlight flickered against damp stone walls. The air was cold, heavy with the scent of rusted iron and something far more unpleasant — dried blood.

He frowned. "Where... am I?" he murmured.

He pushed himself up slightly and looked down at his body.

His clothes had been changed. The wounds he had sustained earlier were gone entirely — not even a scar remained.

"All my injuries are healed..." His eyes narrowed. "So they didn’t kill me after all."

"But what do they want?"

Footsteps echoed suddenly.

One of the guards stationed outside the iron bars approached lazily, a mocking grin spreading across his face.

"Oh? Already awake?"

Logan looked at him calmly. "Where am I?"

The guard leaned against the bars. "This is the Chong Family prison."

"Chong Family? One of the Evil Spirit Families?"

The guard’s expression twisted instantly.

"Who are you calling evil, brat?" His aura flared faintly in irritation. "You asking for a beating?"

Logan didn’t react to the threat. Instead, he asked evenly, "Why am I here? What does your family want from me?"

The guard snorted. "What do we want? I don’t know the specifics." He shrugged. "But as the Family Head personally came here to imprison you, you must’ve done something impressive."

Logan fell silent. His mind began to process what was happening.

Besides that, he had already found something wrong.

His internal energy? It was sealed.
