Remarriage Failed Again Today-Chapter 101: Go Take Good Care of Her, and Don’t Let Her Go Around Making Irresponsible Remarks
Ryan Linton paused, a bitter feeling rising in his heart as he recalled how happy she had looked just a moment ago.
’Annabelle probably really doesn’t love him anymore. Her smile was so relaxed, so joyful.’
’But he knew how much she had once loved Leona Grant. Now, she couldn’t wait to leave him. He couldn’t even begin to imagine what she must have gone through.’
Ryan Linton’s Adam’s apple bobbed. He gently hugged Annabelle Linton, his voice low and heavy. "It’s for the best that you’re divorced. You still have me."
Annabelle Linton hugged him, her crying growing more intense. "Ryan, I’m sorry. I’ll take good care of you from now on. I won’t let you be mistreated ever again."
Ryan Linton just smiled and said nothing.
’To him, his sister’s happiness was more important than anything else.’
Ryan Linton comforted Annabelle Linton for a while before going downstairs to cook a meal to celebrate her divorce.
After they finished their meal, he hurried back to school.
Curfew was soon, and if he didn’t make it back in time, he’d be locked out.
As Ryan Linton walked out the door, he saw a girl standing some distance away. She had short hair and was on the phone, a cigarette in one hand and a food container in the other.
The girl was beautiful and stylishly dressed. She was dazzling under the streetlight—red lips, a delicate nose, and large eyes. Even her frown was attractive.
"Hey, handsome, where do you live? How about I take you home?"
"Hey, handsome, I like you. What if I become your bride someday?"
"Hey, handsome... handsome... handsome..."
Ryan Linton stared at the girl in front of him as fragments of memories flashed through his mind. A sudden pain shot through his head, and the images vanished like popping bubbles.
Ryan Linton snapped back to reality. His handsome face was a mask of indifference as he continued on his way.
Ashley Grant was fuming as she spoke on the phone, taking a drag from her cigarette. "I’m asking you one last time, where is it! Do you have any integrity? If you wanted to bring her food, why didn’t you do it yourself? What’s the big idea, making me come here?!"
On the other end of the line, Leona Grant sounded awkward. He didn’t know what was wrong with him; ever since Annabelle Linton had left, he couldn’t stop thinking about her.
’That woman injured her hand. I wonder if she’s eaten yet.’
After she left today, he had gone to the family estate.
His parents weren’t speaking to him. His grandfather, though quiet, was clearly in a foul mood and had stayed in bed all day without eating. Ashley Grant was mad, and even the household staff were walking around with long, listless faces.
’It seemed Annabelle Linton had formed a strong bond with them over the past two years.’
The thought brought a slight pang to Leona Grant’s heart.
’He, Leona Grant, had never owed anyone anything. Since Annabelle Linton had taken such good care of his family for the past two years, he couldn’t be indebted to her. Besides, she was only injured because of him.’
With that thought, Leona Grant felt completely justified. "She was injured because of me," he said. "I don’t want her bad-mouthing the Grant family. You go take care of her, and don’t let her run her mouth! Don’t worry, I’ll make it worth your while. I’ll give you a week’s vacation, so you can report to school late."
Ashley Grant raised an eyebrow. "So, let me get this straight. I’m out here in the middle of the night delivering food and checking up on your patient, and that’s all I get out of it?"
"Your tutor doesn’t have to come, either."
"Now that’s more like it." A moment later, Ashley Grant was exasperated. "My sister-in-law isn’t the kind of person you’re making her out to be. If you want to know how she’s doing, why don’t you come see for yourself? Who are you trying to fool?"
"Your sister-in-law?"
