Remarriage Failed Again Today-Chapter 25: It Feels Great to Be Reborn
Furious as she was, she still couldn’t argue with her.
While others earned their certification in a few months—and Annabelle Linton in under two weeks—she... she still hadn’t managed to get hers after half a year.
Faye Sheffield stood frozen for a moment, then pulled her phone out of her pocket and called Vivian Yates.
’If I don’t report something this major, how am I supposed to suck up to her in the future?’
Annabelle Linton returned to her office. Looking at the familiar desk and chair, she was overcome with emotion.
In her past life, after she lost her job, she couldn’t even begin to describe how desperately she had longed to come back here. Back then, she’d thought that if she could just return to the career she loved, she would have been willing to die for it.
’I can’t believe my wish actually came true.’
’I died, and my job came back.’
Annabelle Linton was in high spirits. She once again felt a heartfelt sense of gratitude. ’It feels so good to be reborn.’
After all, it was a job she had done for three years, so it didn’t take long for her to get back into the swing of things.
...
At five in the afternoon, a black Lincoln slowly pulled up in front of the hospital.
Chase bowed deeply and opened the car door, addressing the distinguished man who was resting inside. "President, we’ve arrived at your wife’s hospital."
Though he appeared languid, his innate, aristocratic indifference exuded a cold detachment that kept everyone at a distance.
His cool eyes slowly opened, gazing at the building outside. A wicked, captivating smirk spread across Leona Grant’s lips. ’Annabelle Linton, today, I’m going to see exactly what game you’re playing.’
When the hospital director learned that a VIP like Leona Grant had arrived, he was all smiles and bows, not daring to show the slightest neglect as he ushered him into his office. He brought over the plushest director’s chair he had. "Mr. Grant, sit. Please, have a seat."
As the hospital director, he was more perceptive than anyone.
He knew full well that currying favor with Leona Grant was far more advantageous than trying to please the mayor.
Leona Grant gave him a cool glance. The lower half of his face, visible beneath his sunglasses, showed a hint of disdain, and the corner of his mouth curled with faint mockery.
His long, slender fingers tapped lightly on the desk, and a flash of understanding crossed Chase’s eyes.
Placing the prepared contract on the desk, Chase spoke with a serious and respectful expression. "The Grant Group intends to acquire this hospital at a premium price. If you agree, you can remain the hospital director, and your salary will be doubled. All we need is your signature."
’Working for the Grant Group, with double the salary...’
The director’s knees went weak with joy. He nodded his head so vigorously he almost fell to his knees. "I’m honored by your confidence in me, President. I will absolutely work my hardest!"
Chase was speechless.
’He changed his tune fast.’
Leona Grant’s cool gaze swept over the director. It was the first time he had spoken to a stranger since getting out of the car. His deep, magnetic voice flowed like a gentle stream. "Where is Annabelle Linton?"
’Annabelle Linton?’
The director paused for a second before it all clicked. He’d previously heard from Faye Sheffield that Leona Grant treated Annabelle Linton with shocking indifference.
’Tsk, tsk. Buying a hospital for her and picking her up after her shift... You call that indifferent?’
"You mean your wife?" The director, ever so quick on the uptake, didn’t miss a beat. "She should be out on her rounds right now. Shall I take you to her office?" He carefully watched Leona Grant’s expression.
Leona Grant gave a faint nod and followed the director to Annabelle Linton’s office.
He had just sat down when the director eagerly poured him a cup of tea. Finding their presence an eyesore, Leona Grant waved a dismissive hand, signaling for them all to leave.
Annabelle Linton still hadn’t returned. He took a light sip of the tea, then stood up out of boredom and began to look around her office.
