Remarriage Failed Again Today-Chapter 41: Gift-Giving Incident 1
After a flash of anger, Vivian Yates quickly regained her composure.
’Her gifts were all carefully chosen. Annabelle Linton has no taste and no mind of her own, so whatever gift she prepared definitely won’t be as good as mine!’
’Later, I can take this opportunity to humiliate her!’ 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
But Vivian Yates was wrong. Annabelle Linton had grown up in a wealthy family, a true lady from a prestigious background. Even if she hadn’t been doted on as much as other young ladies, her father had always spent money like water on her in public to keep up appearances, so she still lived a life of luxury.
As a result, her taste and judgment had been honed since childhood.
In the past, she had simply made a habit of asking for Vivian Yates’s opinion on many things. After all, it made sense to get a second opinion, and back then, she had trusted her so completely.
Vivian Yates’s lips curved into a cold smirk. She looked up, her expression instantly shifting to a gentle smile as she said, as if letting bygones be bygones, "Annabelle, did you prepare gifts for everyone too?"
Annabelle Linton sneered.
’In her last life, she had said those exact same words. Back then, I hadn’t prepared anything, so you can imagine how awkward it was.’
Annabelle Linton smiled faintly and said gently, "Mom and Dad rarely get to visit. Preparing gifts is just a small token of my appreciation."
"Our Annabelle is so thoughtful. The Grant Family must have done something truly virtuous in our past generations to have a granddaughter-in-law like you," Grandpa said, pleased.
Vivian Yates clenched her fist. ’That old fool. Annabelle Linton preparing gifts is a kind gesture, but it’s more her duty. She’s the Grant Family’s daughter-in-law—isn’t she supposed to prepare gifts?’
’Meanwhile, I’m the guest here, and I brought gifts. Shouldn’t *I* be the one getting praised?’
A cold glint flashed in Vivian Yates’s eyes as she smiled faintly and took out the gifts she had prepared.
For Mr. Grant, she had a 1985 bottle of Medusa Wine from Romanée-Conti Winery. Packaged in an exquisite box, it looked incredibly valuable at a glance.
For Mrs. Grant, she presented a pair of pearl drop earrings. The pearls were translucent and sparkled in the sunlight, emitting a faint luminescence. They were a pure, flawless white, clearly of the highest quality.
It had to be said, Vivian Yates had excellent taste. Although Mrs. Grant was a woman accustomed to the finest things and never lacked for jewelry, she was clearly quite fond of these earrings, her gaze drifting to them several times.
But when she saw the bottle of wine for Mr. Grant, her elegant brows furrowed slightly; she was obviously not very pleased with it.
However, Mrs. Grant showed no displeasure on the surface, smiling warmly and saying, "Thank you, Vivian. How thoughtful of you."
Vivian Yates quickly sensed the distance in Mrs. Grant’s tone. ’These were all gifts I chose so carefully,’ she wondered. ’Where could I have possibly gone wrong?’
Annabelle Linton smiled, took out a gift, and handed it to Grandpa. "Grandpa, this is the gift I prepared for you."
One should, of course, present gifts to the eldest senior first. This small detail showed that Annabelle Linton was both polite and well-cultured.
Patrick Grant accepted it, pleasantly surprised and grinning from ear to ear. "You prepared a gift for Grandpa, too? Our Annabelle is so considerate. Let me see what you got for me."
Patrick Grant opened the gift. Inside was a Chinese chessboard made of jade. It was beautiful, with a surface that was cool to the touch. Holding it sent a refreshing chill through him—perfect for playing chess in the summer.
Grandpa laughed and praised her, "You’re such a thoughtful child. You knew I like to play chess, so you got me a chess set. Such a good child. It’s Leona’s good fortune to have married you. Wouldn’t you agree, Leona?"
