Restart:Untalented Man-Chapter 457: Confrontation
"Only two servants and a butler. I know three of them well. That night, all the servants have gone to bed. Although I live across the corridor, I haven't heard a whisper of noise."
"Hmm..." Johann muttered.
He trusted Han's word. This kid never lied to him. But he knew that seeking confirmation was necessary. He will let the butler do that job for him.
As of now, he could only think of one person in this estate who could beautifully produce a clean stab wound on Adam's chest. Johann didn't want to point fingers carelessly but his grandson are not the type that lets strangers easily get near him.
As Johann mulled over the death of his grandson, the memory of similar incidents from the past weighed heavily on the old man's mind. It made his suspicion grow stronger.
"I'm going to see Percival." Rising from his seat, he left Han behind and made his way toward the main mansion in the estate.
....
Duke Mansion,
His presence there attracts everyone's attention.
The news about Adam's death has not yet cooled down. In fact, it spread further.
As the victim's grandfather, Johann found himself at the centre of rumours. It is well known that the circumstances surrounding Adam's death remained shrouded in mystery.
While at it, they also didn't forget to make their own speculation about the culprit.
Many people want to see how Johann reacts and what kind of action he will take once the murderer is found.
Whispers followed Johann's every move and curious glances trailed after him as he made his way through the grand entrance of the Duke Mansion.
Facing thousands of staring eyes, Johann maintained a calm composure. He is certainly not deaf yet so obviously he can hear them.
Nobody knows how angry he is on the inside. The Klover treat his grandson's death as if it was some sort of fun event.
Johann went straight to Percival's office without caring about the gossip around him.
Normally, it was not a place that anyone could casually enter. The doors to Percival's office were guarded with strict instructions to allow only those with proper clearance or urgent matters to pass through.
Those who tried to force in will be arrested and escorted out.
But, Johann was no ordinary visitor. He can be regarded as an elder of the Klover family. No one dared to block his path. There are very few people who have an authority greater than him.
Reaching the door to Percival's office, Johann grasped the doorknob and pushed the door open without hesitation.
"Percival!"
His action naturally made the duke furious. It was a disrespect toward his position as a duke. "Johann! This is not your backyard. You can't come and go as you please."
Despite the Duke's admonishment, Johann doesn't care in the slightest. His gaze met the duke's glare head-on. "Cut this protocol nonsense. I don't have time for that. Just answer my question. Where is Sarika?"
"Why on earth are you looking for her?"
Johann didn't hesitate to reveal his intentions. Secrecy served no purpose in this situation. "It has something to do with Adam's death."
Percival's face gradually darkened. He understood all too well that the situation had taken a turn in the direction he feared.
"Why does my daughter have anything to do with this case?" Percival questioned.
Johann rolled his eyes, "Oh please! Don't act like you don't know. I heard you went to the old cellar yesterday. You must have seen the wound on my grandson's chest. Don't you think the attack is beautifully executed and flawless? It must have been done by a highly skilled person."
In the face of Johann's accusation, Percival becomes angrier. "Nonsense! It could be anybody. My daughter wouldn't do something like that. She treats Adam like her own brother."
"She wouldn't unless someone told her to do it." 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Percival's eyes widened in surprise. "Are you saying I ordered my daughter to kill your grandson? How do you even reach that conclusion."
"People will do anything to increase their odds. Looking back, my son's death was also suspicious. I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree."
Johann subtly says that Percival might have orchestrated his son's demise to secure his position within the estate and accuse Sarika did the same to his grandson.
"You've lost your mind," Percival spat. The old man in front of him just came here and wants to blame someone.
"Am I? I don't think so. I'm still sane, Percival," Johann retorted.
Percival's eyes narrowed at Johann's words. He gnashed his teeth. "If you're still sane, then talk when you have proof in your hands."
A smirk appears at the corners of Johann's lips. "Confident, aren't you? Just wait. I will make your entire family suffer," he warned.
Percival bristled at Johann's threat. His pride is wounded by the words of this old man. "Are you threatening me, the Duke of Klover?"
Johann sneered in response, "Are the Duke invulnerable from death? I don't think so."
"Guard!"
The door swung open. These guards who had been standing outside were listening to the escalating verbal sparring between Johann and Percival. It just that nobody dared to interfere without clear instructions. Now, the duke has called, you naturally have to obey.
"What's your order, your grace?"
"Take this lunatic out. I don't want to see him near my mansion." Percival ordered.
If these guards hesitated to block Johann's path before, now they are not.
Johann may be someone whom they can't afford to offend easily. But the duke's order is above Johann's status. Moreover, Johann won't blame them since they merely execute the duke's instruction.
In unison, the guards each grasped one of Johann's arms. They are careful not to be too harsh.
Despite Johann's unwillingness, his own strength is no match for the combined strength of the guards. As a conclusion, Johann was carried out of the mansion and the scene was witnessed by many.
