Resurrection Empire-Chapter 1009 - 388: The Rod of Authority
Ren Zhong's lips twitched, feeling a bit speechless; it felt like a parent picking him up and dropping him off for school.
He shook his head, "No need, I have plans tonight."
Zhou Ya: "Who?"
Ren Zhong: "My old flame, Xiao Xingyue. She's the assistant to Ying Hao, the chairman of Source Star Military Industry. Is there a problem?"
Zhou Ya: "No... no problem. I'll see you tomorrow then."
"Yes, see you tomorrow."
After bidding farewell to Zhou Ya, Ren Zhong turned toward the academy's white marble gate.
His thoughts drifted back to the time he discussed the "Blank Paper Civilization Theory" with Xiao Xingyue in the old timeline.
Yesterday's negotiations were too packed for him to chat with Xiao Xingyue about life, but he needed to make up for it today, to lure her back onto the ship.
Passing through the gate, two scanning lasers shot from the left and right doorways, quickly scanning his face and confirming his identity.
A young man in a uniform quickly approached from inside, respectfully saying, "Welcome Mr. Ren Zhong, I am your guide. I will assist you in completing your enrollment procedures and receiving your study materials, among other things."
Ren Zhong nodded politely, "Hello, thank you. By the way, what's your name?"
The youth was momentarily startled by his politeness.
Most people entering Census Official College are either wealthy or noble, and never really give him, the guide, much notice, nor ask his name. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
He was a bit caught off guard, and actually felt somewhat moved.
After a pause, the young man replied with a more respectful tone, "My name is Zhuo Yihang."
Ren Zhong smiled broadly, "Zhuo as in excelling? Which Yi? Which Hang?"
"Yi as in flying wing beast, Hang as in aviation airship."
Ren Zhong extended his hand for a handshake, "Mm, Zhuo Yihang, nice to meet you."
The opposite Zhuo Yihang didn't extend his hand, instead cautiously pulling back a little, "Mr. Ren, I cannot shake hands with you."
Ren Zhong withdrew his hand, "Why?"
"You are a Sovereign Citizen. Although I am a Fifth Level Citizen, it is in name only. My family has long gone bankrupt, now I am a permanent contract employee of Deep Information Education Group, like a slave."
Ren Zhong laughed upon hearing this, then walked forward and grabbed his shoulder, "Slave, huh."
Zhuo Yihang, "Ah? Why?"
Ren Zhong pointed at himself, "Don't you know, a little over a year ago I was just a savage, even worse off than a slave like you. I prefer hanging out with slaves than dealing with Citizens. Don't be shy, you're my first friend at this academy. Lead the way, take me to register my information."
He then pointed to the distance.
In the next hour or so, Zhuo Yihang dazedly guided Ren Zhong through all the procedures and sent him to the classroom door.
As he was leaving, he remembered there was something he hadn't explained clearly, so he pulled Ren Zhong aside and whispered, "Mr. Ren, be cautious about your classmates."
Ren Zhong understood, "Mm, I know, it's fine, you can go."
After this prompt, Ren Zhong entered the classroom.
At this moment, there were nineteen people sitting inside, making up exactly twenty people including himself.
For a moment, Ren Zhong felt a sense of déjà vu, reminiscent of when he first entered the training class at Liao Yuan Science College.
The only difference was that this time, the classmates were far more prominent.
But he didn't mind, friends would naturally come as friends, enemies would be dealt with accordingly.
He didn't plan to humble himself to please anyone; his only concern was graduating from this academy as quickly as possible and moving on to the internship stage.
No self-introduction was needed; once his name was allocated to this class, the other nineteen had already received some of his information from the academic office's distribution system.
Due to confidentiality regulations, these classmates didn't know all of Ren Zhong's information.
In their eyes, Ren Zhong was a newly made citizen, a rapidly rising outside tycoon, and a decent mecha warrior.
Besides this, they knew nothing; they didn't know about Ren Zhong's connection to the Revival Plan nor that four of the nine main conglomerates were already strategic partners of the Ren Corporation.
Ren Zhong's seat was arranged toward the back, and he found his way over to sit down.
The girl in front of him turned around, blinked, and said enthusiastically, "Your name is Ren Zhong, right? I'm Qin Xiang, nice to meet you."
Ren Zhong looked up at the girl.
