Chapter 20: Clarissa - The Domineering Brother

Right in front of the faculty room door, a handsome blond man with neatly styled hair and sharp gray eyes instantly became the center of attention.

The aura he radiated was overwhelming—so heavy that several teachers struggled to breathe.

To me, Derren Green’s face wasn’t unfamiliar. Besides looking like a blond version of Larry, I had seen him a few times back when he was still a student at this academy. He had been one of its top achievers.

"Brother Derren, what do you mean she’s your sister? Don’t be fooled by—"

Derren cut Lisse off sharply.

"Don’t call me ’brother’ when you’re doing something like this to my biological sister."

Lisse flinched, her eyes filling with tears—not because she realized her mistake, but because she couldn’t accept being scolded by Derren.

Meanwhile, Fina and her cronies exchanged panicked looks. Confusion and fear began creeping across their faces.

Derren didn’t spare them even a glance. He walked straight toward me, his eyes scanning my battered condition from head to toe. His expression hardened.

The pressure returned—crushing and suffocating. Lisse, Fina, and their cronies dropped to the floor in an instant. Derren had directed all of his pressure at them alone.

"Anyone who lays a hand on my sister will face the consequences," he declared, his voice echoing through the faculty room.

Then he turned to me.

"I’ll submit your identity-change documents to the school. After that, we’re heading straight to the medical center."

Before I could respond, Derren was already striding toward Mrs. Willette’s desk.

I stood in place, frozen. Everything was happening so fast. It still felt like a dream.

I had just decided to give up on the Green family... and suddenly their heir was here, handling all my paperwork?

He defended me publicly—right in front of Arlisse Green?

Derren’s domineering presence silenced the teachers. None of them dared to speak. Their expressions showed they were wondering whether they had ever wronged me without knowing.

Lisse, Fina, and her cronies looked utterly shocked by what was unfolding.

Lisse glared at me in disbelief, but Fina chose to voice her thoughts, even if in a whisper.

"There’s no way that bitch is Alpha Green’s daughter. She’s an orpha— Agh!"

Derren appeared before Fina in a blink and grabbed her by the throat. Her feet lifted off the floor.

"H—Hikk!" she squeaked like a suffocating mouse. And she was running out of air.

"Derren Green, calm down first. She’s just an immature child," Mr. Woods—Derren’s former homeroom teacher—stepped forward to intervene.

The blond man turned toward him with icy eyes.

"My sister is also still a child, Sir. But look at what they did to her. And you heard what they called her. No family would accept their own being treated like that."

Mr. Woods fell silent. He had been one of the people who scolded me before Derren arrived.

"So Clarissa really is your sister?" Mr. Simmons muttered. I suspected his IQ had dropped after years of handling students like Fina.

Apparently Derren felt the same way—he ignored Mr. Simmons and tossed Fina onto the floor.

"If I ever hear anyone threaten my sister again, the Green family will not sit quietly."

"But how co—" Fina began, but quickly clamped her own mouth shut, remembering she had almost died just seconds ago.

"Derren, leave the documents here. Mr. Woods and I will take care of everything. Take Clarissa to the medical center now," Mrs. Willette said, proving herself the only sensible one in the room.

"Understood. Thank you, Mrs. Willette." Derren bowed politely. For someone I assumed to be hot-headed, he certainly knew how to compose himself.

Suddenly, a strong arm wrapped around my shoulders.

"Your brother will help you walk. Just lean on me."

Before we stepped out of the faculty room, Derren turned around one last time.

"Sanders, this matter won’t end here. And you, Lisse—you won’t walk away clean either."

Fina immediately panicked. She and Oscar had already caused numerous problems with the academy. That alone had put pressure on Sand Pack. If Green Pack were to retaliate, real trouble would follow.

Lisse, who had been frozen this whole time, finally broke down in tears. She truly believed she had done nothing wrong. She simply couldn’t accept either Derren’s reaction or the fact that I was truly the Alpha’s daughter.

Derren noticed her defiance. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

"Starting today, Clarissa is officially Clarissa Green."

...

Everything still felt like a blur.

Sitting beside Derren Green in a car heading to the medical center felt unreal.

Especially when Derren suddenly took my hand.

"Clarissa... I’m sorry I came so late."

I didn’t know how to react, so I simply nodded.

"All Alpha duties fell to me ever since Father kept traveling to the capital. I’ve wanted to meet you for so long."

The Derren beside me now felt completely different from the one in the faculty room. His domineering aura had vanished.

Right now, he simply looked like an older brother who truly regretted his absence.

Tap. Tap.

Tears rolled down my cheek, slipping past the bandage and making me look even more pitiful.

"W–why are you crying, Clarissa? Did I hurt you?" Derren panicked.

I shook my head quickly.

"No. I just... my tears came out on their own."

I didn’t understand why I was crying either, but they weren’t tears of sadness. My heart was overflowing—joy, relief, disbelief—mixing together.

Maybe it was simply the release of all the longing I’d held inside.

Because I truly did have a family. And they hadn’t abandoned me.

Suddenly, Derren pulled me into his arms.

"Clarissa, from today on, I won’t let you shed tears of sadness. You’re only allowed to cry from happiness. Anyone who dares touch you—I’ll repay them a thousandfold."

His warm embrace and the scent that reminded me of Luna Eileen filled me with indescribable emotion.

My tears fell even harder, making Derren even more frantic.

"These aren’t sad tears," I reassured him. "These are tears of happiness."

He smiled softly and stroked my hair.

His gentle warmth was so different from Larry’s cool, reserved nature.

But the two of them were still the best big brothers I could ever ask for.
