Return of The Alpha Heiress-Chapter 79: Richard – Bloom Pack
I didn’t understand what Larry meant by his words, but in the end, all three legions were successfully formed.
Marvin was the strongest Lycan King candidate. No one was unhappy to be under his command.
Camden, despite not ranking in the top ten of the overall assessment, also had no trouble with his legion. He was known as a mood maker, someone people naturally gravitated toward.
As for my legion, none of the members complained or showed dissatisfaction.
Oliver leaned closer and whispered, "You’re the top-ranked participant. Even Marvin, the one everyone expects to become Lycan King, is only second place. No one would ever complain about joining your legion."
I ignored Oliver’s boastful tone, as if he were the top participant himself.
That very night, all newly appointed Enforcers were ordered to pack their belongings.
The next morning, we finally left the forest and headed for the capital city, toward the Enforcer Headquarters. We stayed there for a week to prepare for our first mission.
Enforcers were warriors tasked with protecting the entire empire, operating directly under the Lycan King’s authority.
Since the Lycan King had yet to be chosen, senior Enforcers remained in their respective positions. Only newly appointed Enforcers followed the Lycan King candidates, accompanied by a medical team and one deputy who was a senior Enforcer.
Both the deputy and the medical team could be chosen directly by the legion commander. I specifically selected my deputy and chief medic.
They were Noah and Rora.
Noah had served as my team’s proctor for two years before being recalled to the capital and reassigned to the southern border. Rora followed him as his fiancée.
They were competent, experienced, and their temperaments aligned well with mine. Choosing them was an easy decision.
After one week, the three legions departed toward the southern border through different routes. The purpose was efficiency and coverage. We were not to focus all forces on a single point.
Normally, a mission would be handled by just one legion. But this time, all three were deployed so we could each meet The Healer.
Over the past week, I felt like someone who had just emerged from the wilderness, seeing aether technology for the first time.
"The train we’ll be riding is equipped with an ae-device called an ae-accelerator," Noah explained as we arrived at the modern-looking station. "Its speed is no joke. From the capital to Bloom Pack takes only a full day now."
"I can get home that fast?" Oliver lit up. He excitedly mentioned that his mother and siblings would be waiting with all kinds of food.
"That’s right," Noah said enthusiastically. "All of this is thanks to WitchAe, an ae-device company whose products greatly improve everyday life. Oh, and the company originates from the West Region."
West Region?
I hadn’t known much about ae-device companies before. But when I helped Clarissa look for a company capable of producing shifter’s aide, I had researched those based in the West Region.
"I’ve never heard of that company," I murmured.
"That’s because it was founded only four years ago," Noah replied. "After you entered training."
I nodded in understanding.
The conversation shifted to Bloom Pack and Oliver’s eagerness to show us around. Unfortunately, there would be no time for sightseeing. Bloom Pack wasn’t the mission site.
After twenty-four hours on the train, we arrived at Bloom Pack Station.
Oliver turned to me. "I finally get to see my family again. Don’t worry, Commander, Alpha Black is coming too."
Then he glanced at Larry, who hadn’t responded to a single word he’d said so far. "Alpha Green will also be there."
Once again, neither Larry nor I responded.
A special vehicle was already waiting and took us directly to our accommodations. According to Oliver, the place was part of the Alpha’s mansion, reserved for honored guests.
Truthfully, I was eager to arrive as well. Not because I wanted to meet The Healer. And certainly not to see my father.
All my life, I had been ignored by both the Alpha and the Luna. To them, their son was Adrian, the heir. I was practically raised by maids. As long as I stayed alive, that was enough.
When I left for training, no one saw me off. They were simply discarding a son they didn’t care for, never imagining he would return. Let alone return with a position higher than theirs.
The only reason I wanted to arrive quickly was to meet Alpha William. To ask about Clarissa’s condition and to punish him for what he had done to her.
Adrian, living comfortably in Black Pack, would also get his turn.
The car stopped in front of a massive mansion.
Lined up outside were several middle-aged men, each radiating powerful pressure, none inferior to the others. Draped over their shoulders were cloaks of different colors and embroideries.
I knew them immediately. Alphas from the West Region and several from the South Region, gathered to carry out this mission with me. This was also the moment they would meet their potential future leader.
Noah, Larry, and Oliver exited first. Even Oliver restrained himself this time. He knew better than to cause a scene in front of pack leaders.
I stepped out next, meeting their gazes one by one.
Some smiled politely. Others wore serious expressions, clearly intending to focus on work rather than flatter their superiors.
One man, bound to me by blood, looked guilty.
At least he was aware that he had never treated me like his son.
I passed them without stopping and entered the meeting room.
The Alphas followed.
From the Enforcers, only Noah and Larry accompanied me inside. The rest were sent to their lodgings to rest.
I wasted no time and immediately asked for the mission’s progress report.
To my surprise, the one who spoke was Alpha Harry Black.
My father.
"It’s been two weeks since a group of vampires attacked Frost Pack," he reported. "They only strike at night and vanish during the day. Their hiding place has not been found. The warriors stationed there lack sufficient numbers to search beyond protecting the territory."
"Thirty pack members have been recorded as victims so far. Eight became corruptus and were executed by the warriors. Five went missing, likely turned into vampires and taken by the group."
"The remaining seventeen were attacked within the last week. They became corruptus as well, but The Healer successfully cured them."
