Chapter 177: My Sister Likes You

’As I said already, we are one... We, the spirits are still here because we haven’t yet fully merged with you two... For example, you haven’t yet collected my souls... While our situation is different from Advika’s, it’s the same season.’

’So you’re saying, Advika can communicate with the fire goddess?’ Christopher pressed, surprise evident in his mental query.

’Yep... She is now a peak master level, which means, she and that stubborn bitch must have made a deal... Which favors them both,’ Tiamat sighed.

’Isn’t that a good thing?’ Christopher asked in confusion.

’It is a good thing, but Advika will have to pass a painful process... Meaning, she has to face powerful monsters or Beasts that will activate the goddess’s powers...’ Tiamat’s response held a hint of grimness.

’So life-threatening battles?’

’Correct!’ Tiamat’s answer resonated within Christopher’s consciousness.

’It seems she successfully passed the process.’ Tiamat added, a touch of something akin to admiration in her tone.

"...?!!

Christopher was stunned.

’The only way that is possible is going to the red zone... Did she?’

’Most likely... We will know when we meet her... Now, let me rest.’ Tiamat’s voice faded, and Christopher, with a silent nod, refrained from any further questions.

_____

The drive to Advika’s home was a swift fifteen minutes.

"We are here," Leyla announced, turning to Christopher.

"Thanks... You can get going now. Tell Mum I will be back before dinner."

Leyla’s gaze lingered on him for a few seconds, then shifted to Advika’s home. With a quiet nod, she tapped the driver’s seat.

"Let’s go."

The driver started the car and pulled away, the five black Audis in tow.

"Let’s go see her progress."

Christopher tucked his hands into his pockets, a casual gait to his stride as he walked towards the grand mansion.

"Master Christopher!" The two guards at the gate bowed their heads in respectful unison.

"How are things here?" Christopher inquired, his gaze sweeping across the entrance.

"Good, Master Christopher," the guard on the right responded promptly.

"Ok... I am here to see Advika."

The guards nodded, stepping aside to grant him passage.

______

Christopher paused before the ornate door and pressed the doorbell. In less than a minute, the door swung open, revealing Sylvia’s familiar face.

"Chris?!" Sylvia’s initial surprise quickly morphed into pure elation.

"Chris!!"

She launched herself into his arms, hugging him with a ferocity that momentarily stunned him. He could only stand still, caught off guard by the unexpected embrace.

"Oh... Sorry."

Sylvia pulled back, a sheepish smile gracing her lips.

"I just missed you... After the academy competition, you just vanished." Her expression then brightened. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

"Oh, my manners, please come inside!" She opened the door wide, gesturing him in.

"I was out training," Christopher explained as he stepped into the sitting room, Sylvia following closely behind.

"Yep... I can see that. With my low level, I can’t even feel your strength," Sylvia admitted.

Christopher settled onto a plush couch, his gaze wandering around the familiar room.

"What about your Mum?" he asked.

"Oh! She went out with father... Elder sister is upstairs, in her room."

Sylvia leaned closer, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper:

"She almost got a heart attack when you vanished... She kept on moving from this place to that, even going to the red zone alone... If Katherine hadn’t told her you were out training, I don’t know what that sister of mine will do."

"Really?" Christopher was dumbfounded. "She cares that much?" His tone was incredulous.

Sylvia stood upright, a serious expression replacing her playful one.

"Yep! She might be cold and aloof at times, but when she likes someone, she can go crazy if something happens to them."

She leaned in again, whispering in his ear:

"Your ’like’ is different from ours." She then straightened up, a knowing smirk on her face.

"...?!"

Christopher looked up at her, his eyes filled with confusion.

"You mean, Advika... Like me?" he asked, genuinely stunned.

’Wow... This is nice,’ Tiamat muttered in his consciousness, a hint of amusement in her voice.

"Yep... She won’t let it show, but I know it!!" Sylvia declared with a proud expression.

"And her action and behavior these past seven days... Prove it!" she added, settling down beside Christopher.

"How are you so sure? What did she do these past few days?" Christopher’s curiosity was piqued.

"One the first day we got the news that you are missing, which is six days ago, she got anxious... And rushed to your house for more information... That time, no one knew you were gone."

"That is strange, I sent them a text, saying I am training... Did no one get my text? I even sent one to Advika."

"Really? Well, no one got it... Your phone was also unreachable... You just vanished."

Christopher frowned, pulling out his phone. He navigated to the message Tiamat had supposedly sent, showing it to Sylvia.

"Em... Chris... This message didn’t go through."

"What?!" Christopher looked at the message detail, a stark "Not sent" glaring back at him.

’You!! Didn’t you check this?!!’ he mentally yelled at Tiamat.

’Hey, I don’t know how to use these modern technologies, how would I know? I thought it works like the first time I sent with both yours and Advika’s phones,’ Tiamat retorted, a defensive edge to her voice.

’It means, the moment we stepped into the cave all the signals shut down... That’s why no one could reach me.’ He sighed.

"Sorry, I made everyone worried," he muttered, genuine remorse in his voice.

"No worries, all that matters is that you are safe... Oh! Your mother was also in a complete panic! Elder sister seeing this took Hellfire and rushed to the red zone, thinking you are there, But she only encounters monsters and beasts... I don’t know what happened, but she came back covered with blood... Mum almost fainted seeing her!" Sylvia chuckled, a hint of nervous laughter in her voice.

"The moment she washed up, she rushed out again, helping your siblings to look for you..."

Sylvia exhaled, a long, weary breath. "Your father dispatched his men all over the city, and with your family’s strength, the commander gets news of it... The next day, which was two days ago, the Vice commander came to your house and broke the news... By then, my sister was again in the red zone, going rampant. Katherine had to reach out to her with Leyla’s help, and together, they came back to the city."

She smiled. "Your mother was impressed, and gave her access to your family’s cultivation ground for her to grow stronger... Back then, she was already at the Low stage of the master level." She turned to Christopher’s side-profile.

"You see... She will do anything for people she loves... Even going to the red zone twice without thinking of the consequences... That was stupid." She relaxed back onto the couch.

"I haven’t done anything for her to care about me to such extent---"

"---What did you just say?" Sylvia sat up abruptly, turning to face him.

"You saved our lives against those Komodo dragons, took us out from our poor lives and gave us a home, took her as your only disciple, bought her clothes... More than needed... Gave her money for father’s treatment, and even saved us from assassins! Most of all, you helped her secure victory in the competition and now, she has the opportunity to reach new height... Your mum now pays my father salary for staying in this house, she even gave Advika access to one of your family’s treasures! You have done more for this family than us the daughters." She spoke with a serious, almost scolding tone.

"Wait... Did you just say my mother pays your father salary for staying in this house???"

Out of everything she had said, this detail truly stumped Christopher.

"Yep... We know that was just an excuse... She came here yesterday, and offered my mum and dad a deal, I don’t know what they discussed, but I think it is related to you and my elder sister... Anyway, my father refused to accept without valid reasons, which I know nothing about... So your mother used this way to give him the money... She also said, every month; she will be paying my dad."

"Every month? How much?"

"One Million."

"....?!"

Christopher was flabbergasted, then burst out laughing.

"Wow... My mum is something else." He said with a smile, then asked:

’To know about this deal, I need to ask her.’ He thought and asked:

"How’s your dad?"

"Sister started the healing process, he is getting better... It takes time, but he is improving," she replied.

’Already started the process? She and that goddess definitely made a deal...’ he thought, a new understanding dawning on him.

"Christopher?"

Both Christopher and Sylvia turned towards the stairs, where Advika stood, her gaze fixed on Christopher with an unreadable expression.

"Hello my secretary," Christopher said with a smile, rising to his feet.

Sylvia observed the two for a moment, then, with a knowing look, she opened her mouth:

"Ok... I will get you something to drink." With that, she quickly walked away.

Christopher nodded, then turned his full attention to Advika, who slowly descended the stairway. She stopped before him, her eyes searching his.

"You... Where did you go?" she finally managed to ask, her voice barely a whisper.

"Oh?" Christopher rubbed the back of his neck.

"Well... I went to the blood cave, and mistakenly got trapped inside... With the dense amount of life force in there, I decided to cultivate. I didn’t expect it to take this long." He then shifted the topic.

"How have you been? I see you are now a peak Master level."

"Well..." Advika looked at her hand. "It’s all thanks to your Mum."

"Really? Then what about the red zone?" he probed gently.

"Sylvia... Sylvia told you." Advika exhaled:

"I thought you were on the hill." She lowered her gaze to her feet.

Christopher smiled and ruffled her pink hair.

"Ok now... Cheer up. I will know about your progress and adventures tomorrow in class... I came to check up on you before reaching home... Take care, my secretary." He offered a warm smile, and Advika, though still a little subdued, nodded her head in understanding.

"Your drink!" Sylvia stopped before Christopher, carrying a tray laden with soda and cookies.

"Oh... Sorry Sylvia, I will have to get going... You don’t want my Mum to rush in here," he joked, taking a cookie from the tray.

"Take care you two." He turned to Advika, who slowly nodded her head once more.

The two sisters watched him leave the house, the afternoon light fading around them.
