Return of the Youngest Son with SSS-Rank Talent-Chapter 55: Pathetic
Chapter 55: Pathetic
Evelyn, seeing her "fiancé’s" indifference, felt her blood boil with rage. Never in her life had she been so ignored.
Isn’t he supposed to scream with rage when he sees me with his brother? All that look of firmness and confidence he gave me in the garden... was it an act?
Evelyn was conflicted; it was the first time she had ever felt that way. Kael was supposed to explode with rage when he saw her, and then, with a few sweet words, she would calm him down. That way, she could train him like a dog.
However, all she received was indifference. It was as if he wasn’t looking at her as a woman, but as a piece of rotten meat. She couldn’t accept that; her pride wouldn’t allow it.
Me, Evelyn Blossom, the most desired flower among all the young nobles of the kingdom of Aragon, being ignored like this? Unacceptable!
Separating herself from Jasper, she approached Kael. Standing in front of him, arms crossed and her expression twisted with rage, she spoke:
"Why don’t you say anything? Don’t you care that your fiancée is hugging another man? You’re pathetic." Her voice dripped with pure disgust.
Kael looked up from his book and glanced indifferently at Evelyn. There was no trace of emotion in his eyes; they were as empty as an ancient pond. But inside, he couldn’t help laughing, amused by the woman’s hypocrisy. freeweɓnovel-cøm
When she’s the wrong one, she calls me pathetic? How rotten is Evelyn’s brain to distort everything like that?
I don’t know why I ever liked a woman like that in my past life, when she’s more rotten than a corpse.
Kael couldn’t believe how blind he had been in his past life. To accept all the whims of this woman who never loved him.
His dark eyes shifted to Jasper, who was watching the drama about to unfold with an amused smile. He looked back at Evelyn, who was still glaring at him.
Everyone in the room was silent, waiting to see how this "romantic" drama would unfold.
Kael calmly closed the book, leaned back in the comfortable, luxurious armchair, and looked at his "fiancée," who was nothing more than skin and bones, with a cold stare, but said nothing.
This only angered Evelyn even more, causing her jaw to tense. But she sighed and said disdainfully:
"See? You’re pathetic. You’re not capable of going out and fighting for your fiancée when you see her with another man. How do you expect me to trust you if you’re not capable of that? Pathetic. I don’t know what’s so special about you; you’re such a little man. That’s why you’re the son of a common whore."
Kael, with the same calmness, got up from the furniture and stared intently into Evelyn’s eyes, which were trembling with fear at his sudden action, which took her by surprise.
Evelyn, looking into those eyes as black as the abyss, felt a primal fear she had never experienced before. In this short time, she had had many firsts. She began to feel the air growing scarce in her lungs.
Her legs began to tremble for no reason; it wasn’t as if she was facing an ordinary person or someone her age, but someone very old, someone she had only heard about in books.
Her legs gave way under Kael’s cold gaze, and she fell pathetically to the ground with an expression of pure horror and cold sweat running down her face and back.
Behind Kael, Lydia watched him silently. The sun bathed her figure. Kael, on the other hand, was covered in shadow.
No compassion. No interest. Not even hatred.
He said only one word.
"Pathetic."
Without further ado, he left the room under the gaze of everyone present, who were in shock at what they had just witnessed.
Silence reigned for at least a minute. The long-awaited drama never happened.
Jasper, who had an air of arrogance about him, saw the smile freeze on his face, not understanding what had just happened.
On the other hand, Evelyn’s mind was in chaos, refusing to accept this. She had never been treated with such contempt and indifference in her life. She wanted to get up and yell at him, but remembering those eyes, she remained still.
And tears began to roll down her cheeks pitifully.
The room was filled with Evelyn’s pitiful crying. Until Agnes and Alessia arrived and saw the scene with surprise.
"What happened here?" Agnes asked furiously one of the servants present, who was just coming out of shock.
The nervous servant began to explain everything, without leaving out any details. He feared for his life: he was a mere commoner, and with a single order from the woman standing in front of him, his life would be over.
"I see, so that’s what happened." Agnes looked at her daughter with regret. She couldn’t believe her daughter was so pathetic, and then she fixed her gaze on Jasper, who was visibly nervous under her gaze.
What a pathetic man. What does my daughter see in such trash? She thought and approached Evelyn, who was still crying.
"Why are you still crying? Are you waiting for your father to come down from heaven to defend you?" Agnes’ voice was cold as marble. She stared at her daughter on the floor without blinking. "Get up. Stop crawling around. You’re dishonoring the Blossom family name with your pathetic behavior."
But in his eyes, there was something else. A glimmer of concern, hidden behind an iron mask. Because even though she was his daughter, he couldn’t defend her. Not fairly, not logically. Evelyn had made the mistake.
And in this world, those who make mistakes pay the price.
Agnes clutched the fan between her fingers and thought bitterly:
Lineage does not protect you from humiliation. A noble birth only adorns the corpse if you fall too soon.
She could not hate Kael. Not when it was his daughter who broke the pact of mutual respect that even animals understand. He only returned what he received, with the efficiency of a knife.
A nobleman who cannot control his impulses is nothing more than a commoner in disguise. And a flower that offers itself without value ends up wilting in someone else’s hands.
Too much attention makes a donkey think it’s a lion.
Such is the world of the nobles.
There is no room for feelings.
Only for results.
