Chapter 169: Murder - Part 2

The police arrived on the island early in the morning and secured the murder scene, taking Cindy’s body along with the greatsword, which was the murder weapon, for further analysis. Before the forensics left, they estimated the time of death to be between eight and nine in the evening.

"Can you tell us where you were last night before and after eight in the evening?" asked the senior detective—a young black-haired man with a charming smile, or so it seemed, but in truth it was nothing more than a perverted grin.

He sat on the sofa inside the hotel room assigned for interrogation, while his assistant, a handsome blond-haired new junior detective, stood by the door.

It wasn’t that the junior detective was guarding the door that he wasn’t sitting beside the senior detective; rather, the two of them weren’t particularly close, having been assigned as partners for the first time.

In fact, the senior detective was acting hostile toward his junior. To be accurate, he was bullying him and overusing his seniority, insisting on interrogating only the female models while leaving the rest to his junior.

His previous question was directed at another beautiful girl—one who wasn’t a model, but an assistant manager.

Regardless of that fact, she had a twin who looked exactly like her except for the difference between black and blonde hair, which made the girl twice as seductive and enticing as she sat on the edge of the bed while being interrogated.

Not to mention, she was wearing an arousing white camisole and mini shorts that highlighted her petite figure.

"Pervert..." Mina whispered, seeing the pathetic small bulge through the senior detective’s pants. Not that she was surprised or shocked. After all, Mira—who had been interrogated first—had warned her about the disgusting senior detective.

Disgusted by the lecherous ogling and malicious leer, Mina quickly answered all the questions, giving the same response Mira had given earlier: that she was eating dinner at the hotel buffet hall before eight in the evening; then she went back to their room together with Mira; found out their room had been ransacked; reported it to the hotel staff; and searched for Jess and Jeff throughout the island until they found them around ten in the evening.

"Are you going to ask anything else?" Mina grumbled, irritated and even disgusted as the senior detective squirmed his legs, trying to restrain his impending climax.

After all, he had been interrogating a dozen female models, making him more excited and aroused as each new one entered the room and sat on the bed.

"That’s enough, but you won’t mind if I call you and your twin later, right?" the senior detective said, making it obvious that the follow-up meeting wouldn’t be another questioning, but something clearly personal and private.

Mina didn’t even bother to retort to the obvious sexual harassment and quickly got up from the bed, walking toward the door and leaving the instant the familiar-looking junior detective opened it.

"It would be better if you don’t sexually harass the next model, Rowan," said the junior detective, warning his senior, since he knew not only the next female model but also her boyfriend.

"Shut up, Luke. Don’t forget that I can get you demoted despite your previous promotion," Rowan replied, threatening his junior and clearly envious by that promotion.

"Just call the last one in and let me finish my work. I already have an appointment after this."

Following Rowan’s command, Luke opened the door and welcomed the last female model—Jess.

She was by far the most seductive and enticing model Rowan had seen. Although she was only wearing a simple white shirt and a black slit short skirt, her perfect figure and beautiful face made him incredibly excited and aroused, to the point that he was barely holding back his climax with his legs pressed together.

"Disgusting," Jess said upon confirming Mira and Mina’s warning as she looked down at Rowan.

"I don’t think... I understand what you mean... Ms. Jess," Rowan said, breathing roughly between his words, desperate to hold back his release that was already staining his pants.

"Tsk!" Jess clicked her tongue, feeling repulsed by the disgusting trash calling her name.

She couldn’t bear to stand in front of Rowan—looking at his nasty, lecherous face and listening to his gross, rough breathing—but most of all, his foul smell.

Even before Luke could close the door, Jess turned around and walked out.

"Wait... I haven’t asked any questions yet—"

"You don’t have to. You’ll probably find my fingerprints on the murder weapon. And you won’t accept my alibi since I was alone with my boyfriend after eight in the evening. I won’t mind getting arrested—but not by disgusting trash like you. And most of all, I’m not the one who killed Cindy."

Jess ended her remark the instant she stepped out of the room.

At the same time, Rowan was unable to hold back his climax and released himself, staining his pants as if he had pissed himself.

"I will interrogate the others in another room," Luke said, feeling disgusted himself at his senior detective—who was actually a year younger than him and only got his position thanks to his family’s connections.

"It would be better to get changed first before you go to your appointment, Rowan."

"Shut up, Luke!"

---

By the time Luke was almost finished with the interrogations, with the last person in the room with him, forensics made the call—confirming that Jess’s fingerprints alone were indeed on the greatsword.

"I’m sorry, Jeff, but we have to place Jess under arrest," Luke said even before he started asking questions.

Sitting on the sofa across the low table, Luke—Jeff’s senpai from the Iron Rod Legion brotherhood—explained why Jess was the most suspicious of all the suspects.

Not only were Jess’s fingerprints on the murder weapon, but her alibi—that she was with Jeff at the time of Cindy’s death—along with their location, all pointed toward Jess as the killer.

After all, the cave at the beach where Jess and Jeff had snuck out to be together at night was connected to the secret passage leading to the villa.

"That also includes you, as Jess’s accomplice to murder," Luke added, since Jeff had every motive to help Jess commit the crime.

"Do you really think the police wouldn’t find out if I killed someone, Luke-senpai?" Jeff replied, reasoning that if they truly were the killers, they wouldn’t have left such obvious clues connecting the murder to them.

Which, of course, Luke already knew.

"I always thought you were more reasonable than your older brother Renn, but to be involved in all of this..."

Luke wasn’t referring only to the current murder. His surprise at Jeff’s sudden involvement in troublesome matters had started on the first day he called him to arrest Trud—Jess’s supposed ex-boyfriend—for carrying illegal drugs.

Not to mention, Jeff was the one who tipped Luke off about Trud’s manhunt, the very case that earned Luke his promotion as a detective.

"Says the one who used to lead gang fights with my older brother."

This time, it wasn’t just old stories—Jeff was certain Luke had been the one who led the manhunt for Trud.

"I could probably hold off Jess’s arrest until tomorrow, but that’s all I can do," Luke said, bringing the conversation back to the matter at hand.

"Then please help me, Luke-senpai."

"Fine. Tell me what you need. If I deem it worthy of my pledge, the Iron Rod Legion will answer your call."

"Jess and I weren’t the only ones who didn’t have an alibi, right?"

---

At the hotel buffet hall, Jess was having lunch together with Mira and Mina while waiting for Jeff.

"Hm?" Jess muttered, halting her knife and fork as she anxiously looked around her surroundings.

"What’s wrong? Is it the thief or the killer?" Mira asked, worried by the sudden tension.

"It’s that disgusting trash, isn’t it, Jess?" Mina said, glancing over her shoulder before quickly looking away upon seeing Rowan approaching their table.

Jess didn’t answer. She kept scanning her surroundings, trying to find the source of her discomfort. She didn’t even notice as Rowan sat at their table, between Mira and Mina, directly across from her.

"We couldn’t talk properly earlier, so I wanted to have another conversation with you, Ms. Jess," Rowan said, flashing his signature charming smile—one he believed had never failed to woo a woman—now confident again after changing into new pants taken from a female model he had just finished his so-called appointment with.

"You should get up from that seat before it’s too late."

"And get away as far as possible from us, you disgusting trash."

Rowan maintained his charming smile despite being pissed by Mira and Mina’s blunt remarks—until he froze, confused and frightened by Jess’s sudden threat.

"I’m giving you three seconds to get away from my boyfriend’s seat, or you’ll leave this island in a body bag... One... Two..."

"You’re not serious, are you—"

—BAM!—

—ZAP!—

"Please put down the knife, Jess."
