Returner Fantasy-Chapter 178: Laid-Back Camp - Part 1
—"WE’RE BACK!"—
Jess’s photoshoot, which had started on Monday when Jeff picked her up along with Mira and Mina from their college, finally ended with the group arriving home on Saturday morning.
It had been a fun, intimate, passionate, and intense set of weekdays—but it wasn’t over yet. With the weekend ahead, they could all spend more time together at home.
Or so Jeff thought.
—"AND YOU’RE LEAVING RIGHT NOW!"—

The front door shut right in front of Jeff before he could even take a single step inside.
"What’s wrong with them? Why are they acting weird?"
Even earlier—before they left the hotel—Jeff had already noticed that Jess, Mira, and Mina were acting strange.
They had another foursome after their final beach cave photoshoot that night, then another back in the hotel room until they fell asleep.
Jeff had expected they would do it again in the morning, but to his surprise, the three of them slept until the very last minute before the boat’s scheduled departure from the vacation island.

And now he was being told to leave, as if they had already had enough of him.
"At least explain what’s going on, Jess."
In response to Jeff’s plea as he continued knocking, the door opened slightly, and Jess peeked through the gap.
"Just go already, idiot. Didn’t you promise Vee that you’d take her on a date once you got back? Don’t forget to take Nubia-senpai with you as well."
Jess had indeed been in contact with Veena during the photoshoot, so she knew how much Veena missed Jeff. She also wanted to thank Nubia for worrying about her when she became a murder suspect. However, pampering Veena and Nubia wasn’t her only reason for telling him to leave immediately.
The more time Jeff spent at their home—or even at his parents’ house—the greater the chance he would find out about Jess, Mira, and Mina quitting college so they could transfer to his university and move in with him in Capital City earlier than originally planned.
It was a surprise Jess wanted to protect at all costs—even if it meant giving up a few days she could have spent with Jeff.
Not to mention, she still had a scheduled confrontation with her mother regarding her possible stepfather and soon-to-be younger sibling.
"Then can I at least get a hug before I leave?"
The door instantly shut in response to Jeff’s request. Still, he knew Jess wasn’t rejecting him—if anything, it was the opposite.
"I’m just giving Jeff a hug..."
"Not with that perverted look in your eyes..."
"Control yourself, Jess..."
The three of them were squabbling again, Jeff thought as he laughed at the faint sounds of Mira and Mina trying to stop Jess from opening the door.
Soon enough, it opened, and Jess lunged at Jeff, wrapping him in a tight embrace and burying her face in his chest.
"I meant a hug from the three of you," Jeff said, extending his arms to invite Mira and Mina as well—which, of course, they gladly accepted.
Jeff didn’t mind leaving if that was what Jess, Mira, and Mina wanted. He also needed to keep his promise to Veena—and include Nubia as well.
After all, a new quest from the Returner Fantasy System had just appeared on the holographic screen flashing in the corner of his vision.

Veena immediately lunged at him, clinging tightly.

The moment their lips parted and Nubia caught her breath, Jeff crouched slightly, grabbed her by the waist, and lifted her over his right shoulder—while Veena continued clinging to his left side.
"What are you doing, Jeff? Put me down."
While Nubia held onto him to avoid falling, Jeff gave Veena the same passionate kiss he had shared with Nubia until she, too, seemed satisfied.
"Carry me too, Jeff-senpai."
Jeff easily hoisted both Nubia and Veena over his shoulders before heading out of his apartment, through the elevator, down to the lobby, and toward the camping van parked outside. Only then did he partially explain his plan.
"We’re leaving right now."
Or at least, half of it.
"Let’s go!" Veena cheerfully shouted as she settled into the passenger seat beside him.
Nubia, however, strangled Jeff from behind the driver’s seat.
"Explain things properly, stupid Jeff."
Both of them were still wearing their house clothes—Veena in a blue camisole and mini shorts, Nubia in the same style but in black. They were even still in their indoor slippers.
Jeff himself wore only a plain light gray shirt, shorts, and slippers. Yet he refused to let them return to the apartment to change, insisting that what they were wearing was more than enough for their destination.
"We’re only camping overnight. This is fine."
"Mhm~ more than enough," Veena agreed happily.
But to Nubia, who worked at a fashion company, there was no way it was enough.
"Not just my clothes—at least let me get my smartphone," Nubia complained as she reached for the door handle, only for Jeff to lock the van.
"Sorry, Nubia-senpai, but smartphones aren’t allowed on this date."
Before Nubia could argue further at the sight of Jeff’s stupid, perverted grin, he started the engine and drove off toward their first stop—a shopping mall halfway between the forest campsite.

"Leave all the snacks to me, Jeff-senpai, Nubia-senpai," Veena said, now wearing Jeff’s oversized red jacket to cover her rather revealing housewear.
Following behind, Nubia, wearing Jeff’s oversized white shirt as her cover, pushed the shopping cart.
Jeff, meanwhile, stayed close behind her, embracing her tightly to calm her still-souring mood.
"I still have a lot of work, stupid Jeff."
"I’ll help you with everything once we’re back, so just relax and enjoy our threesome—I mean date, Nubia-senpai."
