Chapter 481: Chapter 96 Fierce Battle

More Blade Warriors were closing in.

Even though they had witnessed the Demigod fall at the hands of this being of light and knew that rushing forward meant certain death, these samurai loyal to the Emperor still charged ahead, willing to sacrifice their lives to delay her and buy the Emperor a chance to escape.

"Why do you insist on marching to your death?"

Eleanor was also moved by the choice these Blade Warriors made.

Then, with her Gun Sword in hand like a fierce dragon and tiger, she fiercely struck out and slew all the approaching Blade Warriors.

While maintaining the clearance of surrounding enemies, Eleanor continued her pursuit toward the Emperor, fighting and chasing him down as the several big teams of Blade Warriors he brought with him soon all lay dead.

Looking at the terrifying, continuous small hills made of the corpses of Blade Warriors in front, the knights and soldiers chasing behind gradually stopped their advance.

It was too exaggerated.

It was almost like she was a Demigod... No, even the Demigod was no match for her!

"Did someone just shout ’Unyielding Holy Sword’?" a knight suddenly asked aloud.

"Is that a Holy Sword?"

"It looks like it."

"Do you see that white light? Is that Holy Light?"

The chaotic discussion lasted only a moment before gradually ceasing, as these knights and soldiers quickly realized another, more pressing issue.

The entire camp’s order had completely collapsed.

The Emperor, the Giant Dragon, the Demigod... all the camp’s top combat forces were now too preoccupied with their own survival under the chase of this being of light to impose any control.

No one was left to bind them with violence and authority.

First, a squad of soldiers suddenly turned and ran backwards, followed by more soldiers... The knights initially tried to maintain order but soon, some joined the fleeing ranks.

The situation quickly spiraled out of control; even the Imperial soldiers on the camp’s edge, unaware of what had transpired, began to flee en masse upon seeing their comrades retreating.

A few knights tried to stop the masses at the camp gates but, predictably, they were scattered by the fleeing soldiers.

No matter the outcome of the battle between the Light Angel and the Empire’s high command, by this point there was no extra force left to stop their departure. These Imperial soldiers and knights, conscripted by force, now just wanted to flee northward at full speed, getting as far away as possible from the Church Court’s terrifying gunfire and this blood-soaked land.

Eleanor, pressing her temples and breathing heavily, felt as if her head was about to explode in pain.

Even though she had just killed so many Blade Warriors, she harbored no remorse or regret.

Because she had already understood:

She wasn’t just fighting to preserve their lives; she was fighting to defend their right to freely choose "whether to continue participating in the war" or not.

For warriors like those Blade Warriors, who had received the Giant Dragon family’s grace and were loyal and willing to fight and die for the Emperor, Eleanor respected their choice and fought them with honor and then killed them.

But for those conscripted soldiers and knights who had long wished not to continue the fight, yet were tragically forced to die in battle due to the Emperor’s violence and authority... it was with a resolve for death that Eleanor fought to win those weaker ones another choice to survive.

What she had to do next was kill the Emperor, to prevent these soldiers from being captured again and strangled by him.

"Her Holy Sword has lasted for 24 seconds," said Carol the Knowledge Key, observing the Light Angel rushing towards them. This demigod from the Luxembourg family of the Bohemian Duchy is an intellectual and elegant woman.

By employing certain knowledge-based laws, she was attempting to decipher the "knowledge" linked to this mysterious knight who could activate the Holy Sword, in an effort to find an effective plan to defeat her.

As of yet, the only conclusion her law could draw was "wait."

Wait for the opponent’s Holy Sword state to end.

Which meant that, as long as the Holy Sword was active, the opponent was invincible.

Facing the aggressively charging Light Angel, four more demigods dashed out this time.

Leading the charge was Henry, the Mechanical Monarch of the Wolf Family, who suddenly extended a long metallic tentacle from his spine, wrapped in fierce Thunder Light, and slashed at Eleanor like a whip!

Eleanor, without slowing her charge, simply lifted her Longsword and slashed the descending metal tentacle in two; the Thunder Light, running over her body’s glow, was unable to breach the white light woven by her will and quickly dissipated.

Following him was Widukind, the Chaotic Duke from the Saxony Duchy. He brought two fingers of his right hand together, adorned with twisted radiance, and pointed at the Light Angel from afar.

Twist!

Although previous attacks had been mostly explosive, the duke’s Law Domain was actually "twist." Facing the Light Angel in the Holy Sword State, he didn’t hesitate to unleash his most powerful skill of the twist law.

Spatial tear.

An eerie distortion suddenly formed in the space ahead of the Light Angel’s path, eventually creating an invisible, narrow spatial rift.

This rift disrupted the continuity of space, causing any object that passed through it to be sliced in two without exception, essentially cutting the space they occupied in two as well, in a manner that was irreparable.

Eleanor’s will fog sensed the hidden movement beneath the seemingly empty façade ahead. She suddenly turned while sprinting at full speed, drawing a large arc to avoid the spatial rift.

However, this was precisely what the Chaotic Duke had calculated. On the side of that spatial rift, and right in front of Eleanor’s new direction of movement, another spatial rift suddenly emerged.

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, innumerable spatial rifts sequentially appeared, firmly locking her within a "birdcage" made of unstable spatial currents.

Then there was the sound of a gunshot.

Because the white light surrounding Eleanor was so dazzling, no one could clearly see the details of her body or even discern whether she was holding a Long Spear or Longsword, only making a crude judgment based on the length of the light.

The bullet covered by the white light suddenly burst forth from the Imperial Eagle, shooting through the gaps of the "birdcage" towards the Chaotic Duke.

This demigod, not known for his Reaction Speed as a Physical Demigod, could only instinctively place a twisted force field before him to fend off the bullets invisible to the naked eye.

Subsequently, the bullet enveloped in white light pierced through his skull.

Before he had even fallen breathless to the ground, Red-haired Otto suddenly appeared from the Flames that rose behind him, delivering a palm strike to the back of his head.

The Flesh blown away by the bullet’s impact eerily flew back into the bullet hole, as if the scene of being shot was playing in reverse, and then the wound was patched up by black runes. The Chaotic Duke, with a chilling look, stood firm and wiped the blood from his face.

"Thank you," he said, eyes still fixed on the birdcage ahead.

"I’ve only temporarily sealed your skull and brain tissue from shattering," Red-haired Otto also looked at the imprisoned Light Angel, slightly narrowing his eyes, "You’ll still need someone to repair and heal it later, the Sealing Law isn’t permanent."

"At least it will last through this fight," the Chaotic Duke spoke in a low voice, "How long has it been?"

"37 seconds," replied Carol the Knowledge Key.

What caused some unease among the demigods was that the pure white glow around the target inside the birdcage showed no sign of collapse whatsoever.
