The stage remained dark for several breathless seconds until a single spotlight pierced the gloom.
It illuminated Julian, looking every bit the weary country boy in his denim and grit, holding his guitar as if it were his only anchor.

As the last note of the verse lingered, the darkness on the other side of the stage vanished. Aura was revealed seated at a grand piano, her fingers dancing over the keys to produce a haunting, melodic swell. She leaned into the mic, her voice going through the air with soft clarity.

For the remainder of the performance, Aura and Julian stood back-to-back, pushing their vocals to the absolute breaking point to deliver the song’s iconic, soaring climax.
They delivered it with such fluidity and power that the audience was left awestruck. There was only silence until the very last moment.
After Julian’s guitar trailed off and the background instrumentals faded into the rafters, the silence that followed was broken by a roar so loud it felt like the arena was shaking.
The judges were already on their feet. Even Rex was clapping profoundly with deep respect.
The claps continued for a long while before Michael came onto the stage and gave them a long, quiet look before facing the audience.
"Wow! Wow... This is... I don’t have words for this. Hands down, I haven’t heard anything better in this show."
There were laughs and claps from the audience, but no one could deny the declaration. The performance was simply that good!
Michael looked at them. "Julian, Aura... You two are amazing. Your talent is boundless. You have amazed us all here today, and either of you that goes home should do so with a proud chest. You are truly amazing!"
The duo nodded and gave words of appreciation, but they were soon directed off stage. Michael faced the crowd.
"Now, oh great viewers. It’s in your hands. The judges have had their say all week, but for the Semi-Finals, the final verdict belongs to you! Vote now on the Star App. Thank you!"
Michael turned around and the lights dimmed once more.

Meanwhile, Aura and Julian had met up with Von and Celine backstage. They had a warm welcome with lots of praise upon their arrival, but now everyone’s eyes were fixed on the unmarked polls, looking at how the votes were going. Only the contestants had access to this, but the bars were still hidden for suspense.
What even made it more intense was how tight the margins were. It looked like a draw because each side kept overtaking the other with a slight difference.
But it couldn’t be a draw; everyone had their eyes fixed on the screen as they awaited a result. Until suddenly, the results were in.
And they were called to the stage. During that moment of them waiting, the audience had been entertained with funny and rare clips of the contestants that had performed, making them savor the memory of them being on the show.
But now the contestants were back on stage, the screen switched with the logo, and all eyes awaited the big thing.
Michael turned to Julian and Aura, placing a hand on each of their shoulders. "The two of you have been absolute pillars of the Star Mansion. We’ve watched you grow, we’ve watched you support each other, and we have enjoyed every single second of your journey. You’ve brought a level of class and raw talent to this house that will be incredibly hard to replace."
Michael paused and looked at the audience. "One of you will be leaving, and tonight, the cans have spoken,"
"With a total vote of 2,809,655 compared to a total vote of 2,822,131..."
The audience saw how tight the margins were as the numbers flashed on the screen. Michael paused to build suspense before announcing.

"... JULIAN WEST!"
There were many defeated sighs and hisses, but equally as many cheered. It was the fans’ choice after all.
Michael spoke up. "Congrats Julian, you’re moving over to the finale! And to you, Aura. It was a joy to watch you here. We will not forget you, and we hope your passion does not forget you either. Congrats on coming this far!"
There was a light cheer as Julian and Aura exchanged hugs. The former was a little emotional, but Aura had a bright smile as if happy for his win as well.
After they left the stage to background music, Michael looked back at the crowd. "The night is far from over guys, as after a short break, we’ll have a look at the journey behind our next contestants... Celine Smith, and Von Varley. Stay tuned!"
