Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Orange Brand

The next morning, they woke up at 6:00 in the morning to start their planned workout. After putting on workout clothes, they headed to their transformed gym and Lu Zhen started to guide his wife.

Leng Pan had never done any professional exercise before and all she knew was how to run on a treadmill. But, obviously, that was not enough now. Thus, she followed the exercises her husband had planned for her.

The bell rang as they were getting warmed up and Leng Pan used a remote control to open the door.

She knew that it must be Lu Tao coming for a workout since his brother had instructed him to do so yesterday.

Since they were talking while getting started, Lu Tao followed their voices to the last room.

When he walked in, Leng Pan almost fell off the treadmill. The boy looked like he hadn’t slept in weeks. He was not only dispirited and haggard, but he also looked as if the vitality in his body had been drained.

He was basically a walking corpse.

"You didn’t turn into a zombie, did you?" She asked as she walked towards him.

Lu Zhen just looked over and continued with his exercise. It looked like his scheme had worked. The boy probably didn’t sleep the whole night while trying to gain control of his superpower.

"Sister-in-law, I am fine, just tired." Lu Tao couldn’t possibly tell her the real reason he looked like he was on the verge of collapse, could he? His brother would then make his life more miserable.

He knew his brother well and was aware that he had done those things last night deliberately, but he couldn’t say anything about it. Who asked him to be the younger brother?

Leng Pan seeing him like this felt sorry for him and left the gym. She came back a few minutes later with freshly squeezed orange juice. She had added a little spiritual spring water in the juice to give this young man an energy boost and restore his vitality.

Giving the glass to him, she said, "Drink this to boost your energy before you start your workout. Otherwise, you might pass out after a few minutes and we can’t go to the hospital now."

Lu Tao took the juice, his eyes filled with tears of gratitude. His brother was so evil, but he had married an angel as a wife.

He no longer felt so aggrieved as he drank the whole glass of juice in one go.

He was amazed at how fast it actually improved his condition. His fatigue was gone, and he no longer felt empty. His body was filled with energy and vitality.

"Okay, since you have recovered, get down to business." Lu Zhen’s voice came through causing the young man not to keep thinking about how awesome that juice was.

He still wondered if there were more of those oranges. The brand must be incredible to produce juice of such good quality.

They worked out for an hour before going back to take a shower. Today was another day of staying indoors because they still didn’t understand the situation well.

Thus, after breakfast, the family sat down in the living room to watch the news. Unlike before, not many channels were broadcasting live footage of what was happening around the world.

Many reporters were now afraid of going out as they may be attacked and bitten by zombies or scratched. Many people by now, being the second day already knew that coming into contact with zombies and getting bitten or scratched could turn them into zombies too. So, no one dared to take a risk.

Now instead of going out to collect news, many television channels were using high-quality drones to investigate. However, without the internet, these images couldn’t be transmitted live and had to be sent back to the station for organization and transmission.

Nevertheless, at least the people with television sets that could connect the analog mode still had access to news.

There were now more zombies than the day before. It looked like some people had delayed reaction to the gas spreading the virus.

The emergence of superpower users was also reported, despite not being many. But this was expected. While some people might be like Uncle Li not realizing that they had a superpower, others chose to keep it a secret when they found out.

People were still unfamiliar with the concept of humans having super abilities. Therefore, they were afraid that disclosing such a thing might get them into trouble or they could be captured for human experiments.

As such, the reports about superpower users and those broadcasted were people who had a desire to show off. Feeling that because they had awakened a superpower while others turned into zombies, they were more special and we’re ’gods’ in their own right. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

But such people were in the minority. Only those addicted to the idea of fame and wealth. Many superpower awakeners however, had kept quiet.

This is the same situation as Leng Pan and Lu Zhen. They had tacitly agreed not to expose their abilities for the time being. They were still weak and couldn’t even fully control their powers.

If people with ulterior motives captured them for research, then they wouldn’t have anywhere to cry.

Thus, watching the news and seeing some people with proud expressions boasting about how they could set things on fire with their bare hands or how they could create water like a ’god’ or how their fists could turn into metal was exasperating.

"These people don’t know that they are painting a target on their backs. In any era, a unique existence was either revered or used as a tool for other people’s benefits.

They are so proud announcing to the world about their abilities, once those mad people who are crazy about research get the idea of researching a cure for the zombie virus or a way to awaken superpowers, they would be the first target." Leng Pan pointed this out with a solemn expression.
