Rich in the 70s: I Made a Rugged Veteran a Millionaire-Chapter 102: Golden Idea
After signing the contract, Jiang Cheng and Mr. John returned to the restaurant, and the brunch gathering was still ongoing.
Everyone chatted while eating.
Mr. John, fulfilling a bet, felt that since he had spent money, others should spend some too, and pointed out several other participants in the bet.
A few agreed swiftly, but they had no business dealings, merely purchased a few gift boxes to add onto Mr. John’s order.
Mr. John agreed with a smile and looked towards Smith.
"Smith, would you like to purchase gift boxes too?"
Smith proudly raised his glass and said, "No, I don’t like these things."
His expression and tone seemed to suggest that these items sullied him.
Mr. John’s face turned a bit unpleasant, what did Smith mean?
Doubting his judgment?
He must know that Mr. John had invested in two thousand gift boxes, ready to take them back to his country for sale.
Jiang Cheng immediately stepped in to mediate, comforting Mr. John, "Mr. John, not everyone has your capabilities, please don’t trouble Mr. Smith."
Upon hearing this, Mr. John immediately showed a proud smile, and looked at Jiang Cheng saying, "Jiang, you’re absolutely right."
Smith’s expression turned ugly as he heard this and snorted, "I don’t have the capability? Are you joking? I said I just don’t like these things."
Jiang Cheng urged with an understanding look, "Mr. Smith, there’s no need for this."
Smith was even angrier.
What does this mean?
A mere translator looks down on me?
"Jiang, if you can come up with something I like, I would naturally buy it. I have the capability; it’s just that you don’t have the products."
Jiang Cheng wasn’t angry at all, calmly asking Smith.
"Mr. Smith, can you tell me what direction you’re looking for? If you don’t say, how will you know if we have it or not? Or perhaps this is just your excuse, that no matter what I bring out, you won’t like it."
Jiang Cheng’s slightly smiling skepticism caused Smith’s temper to rise.
He directly replied, "I own many gift shops, and the items I want must be unique and thoughtful. Are you sure Hua Xia can meet my needs?"
Jiang Cheng nodded affirmatively.
"You make a good point; perhaps I shouldn’t recommend anything then."
After speaking, Jiang Cheng turned to chat with others.
Smith, waiting for more, felt extremely uncomfortable.
Normally, shouldn’t you work hard to demonstrate your products?
But now, that’s it!!!
Smith glared at Jiang Cheng angrily, while Jiang Cheng began a conversation with others, even discussing food.
As Jiang Cheng enthusiastically praised Chef Dong, Smith approached, sitting opposite Jiang Cheng.
"Jiang, leaving others like that is very impolite, you said Hua Xia is the land of etiquette, didn’t you?"
Jiang Cheng said to Zack, who was listening, "I’m sorry, do you mind if I address the matter with Smith first?"
Zack was naturally happy to watch the drama unfold and gestured for Jiang to go ahead.
After thanking Zack, Jiang Cheng turned to Smith with a restrained smile.
"Mr. Smith, first interrupting others is impolite, secondly, I didn’t abruptly end our conversation. You asked if I had it, I said no, so since there’s none, is there any point in continuing?"
Jiang Cheng’s response left Smith speechless.
Apparently, it’s not really necessary.
But why did he feel so uncomfortable?
"Jiang, you should try harder. I know all of Hua Xia wants to do business with us."
Jiang Cheng did not deny: "We are willing, but both parties need profit, it’s not just about yielding. Your conditions are rather harsh. Although I have a great idea in mind, I don’t want to share it with you, I fear you might steal my idea."
Smith grew even angrier.
He stood up with a bang.
Smith pointed at himself, questioning Jiang Cheng, "Are you calling me a thief?"
Jiang Cheng shook his head.
"No, I’m simply saying my idea is very good; as you say, it’s a golden idea that could bring you a fortune!"
With Jiang Cheng’s words, most people didn’t believe, including Smith.
However, Smith really wanted to win once.
"Jiang, tell me, if your idea is indeed that good, I’ll place a huge order right here."
Jiang Cheng considered for a moment.
After a pause, she finally nodded: "Okay, but let’s discuss it elsewhere."
"Alright!"
Smith agreed.
Many foreigners didn’t believe Jiang Cheng, but were curious nonetheless.
However, since it was said to be a private discussion, they couldn’t just follow.
Inside the room, Director Leng and Factory Director Fang arrived.
After Jiang Cheng invited Smith to sit, she took a stuffed doll from Factory Director Fang, made of pure fabric and stuffed with cotton.
The doll was beautiful, quite different from Hua Xia’s current aesthetic, but it struck a chord with Smith’s tastes.
Just this one doll, and Smith was already moved.
Yet Smith remained unfazed, and even mockingly looked at Jiang Cheng saying, "Is this your golden idea? Jiang, this is too amateurish."
Jiang Cheng rose and walked to a prepared blackboard, with a large white paper on it.
Smith: Where did this paper come from?
Before Smith could think further, Jiang Cheng pulled down the paper.
"Mr. Smith, this doll is just the beginning."
"My idea is right here."
"This doll, I’ve named Eva. She comes from Hua Xia, with aspirations to be the greatest dentist."
"She likes eating meat, dislikes vegetables, loves reading, and enjoys running."
"She’s cheerful and has many friends, like Adam who is her good friend."
Jiang Cheng pointed at the illustration of a male doll and continued: "We’re not selling the doll, but the story behind them."
"A single doll can bring limited profit, but what if it’s a series of dolls?"
"Each doll can lead to merchandise, like clothing, jewelry, pets, etc."
"Limited dolls for every holiday, six or twelve to make a series."
"Mr. Smith, in your country’s Christmas, there’s always a hottest toy each year. With proper promotion, this next big thing could be you."
Jiang Cheng painted a beautiful future for Smith.
Smith looked at the already heart-moving stuffed doll and asked Jiang Cheng, "Aren’t you afraid I won’t buy, but simply take your idea?"
Jiang Cheng smiled confidently.
"Mr. Smith, the doll’s story isn’t unique. As far as I know, your country has Barbie, mostly appealing to children."
"The stuffed doll in my hand, you’ve seen it, it has broader appeal, right?"
"Most importantly, I don’t believe you’ll produce purely handmade dolls domestically, otherwise, you won’t be the sharpest businessman among them."
With Jiang Cheng’s words, Smith paused for three seconds, then laughed heartily, standing up.
"Jiang, if you were a businessman, you’d be the most qualified one!"
