Chapter 199: Chapter 199. The Main Arena

Although it was called an arena, it actually consisted of many arenas. The building itself was not smaller than the five main buildings around the main plaza. The building housed many amphitheaters, which served as the arenas. They were open-air and provided seats for spectators.

Though many parts of the building were open-air, it had only one entrance. The open amphitheaters were covered by invisible barriers. Everyone who wished to enter the arena had to go through the entrance. Behind the entrance was a lobby where one could submit the request to use the arena. Even spectators had to register in this lobby before they were allowed entrance into the arena.

Xin Wuming had submitted the request and booked an amphitheater a week ago when he issued the challenge. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to acquire the slot. The arena was always full. The academy was filled with hot-blooded cultivators eager to prove their worth. Hence, usage of the arena needed to be submitted many days prior.

Currently, the lobby was filled to the brim. Students were crowding around to register. Although the arena was popular, the current liveliness was beyond the norm.

It turned out that most of these students came to watch a particular match. It was the match between the freshman leader of the Nobles faction against the leader of the Vicious faction, or so they thought. The news had spread for the entire week. The two factions intentionally hyped the match. Expectations were high. The students who came were not only from the freshman grade. Junior and senior students also came for this match. As for the factions, all of them sent representatives to spectate.

"What do you think of the odds?" One student asked the friend he came with. They were queueing for the register.

"Isn’t it obvious? Of course, Lin Mo will win. He is the first rank in the entrance exam," his friend said.

"Gao Dou is not a nobody. He is the freshman leader of the Nobles faction. He is also from the famous Gao clan. I think his chance is not bad."

"I agree," Another student joined their conversation. "Do you remember the fight he had with Lin Mo’s subordinate? Xin... Xin something..."

"Xin Wuming."

"Yes! That fellow. Do you remember Gao Dou used a weapon that emitted lightning elements in that fight?"

"I don’t. I didn’t watch that fight."

"For a weapon to emit elemental energy, it is not your run-of-the-mill weapon. It must be a high-tiered engraved weapon."

"How can a freshman student possess such a high-quality weapon?"

"He is from the Gao clan, remember?"

"Don’t forget about his affinity. He has a B-grade Earth affinity. As for Lin Mo, he doesn’t have any elemental affinity."

"Hm... Now that you mention it, I suppose it is not that clear-cut..."

"That’s right. That makes it more exciting, doesn’t it? A fight where we already know who the winner is isn’t worth watching."

"I guess so... Why isn’t the line moving? This is taking ages...!"

Many in the crowd expressed the same complaints. Only a few staff were manning the register. They were overwhelmed by the number of students wishing to enter the arena.

The arena overseer was flabbergasted by the situation. He didn’t expect a match between two freshman students to draw such attention. He had been calling for some standby staff to come help the register. Otherwise, this crowd might turn into a riot.

"Sir, how are we going to fit all these students into arena B6?" One of his aides asked. Arena B6 was the amphitheater booked by Xin Wuming. "All these students won’t fit there..."

"Ugh...," the overseer was at a loss about what to do.

"The only one that can fit these many spectators is the main arena," the aide said.

"To use the main arena, we will need approval from the principal. I don’t think..."

"I approve."

The overseer and his aide turned to the voice and were startled to find Li Niang there.

"Pri... Principal...! I didn’t know you were here."

"I was passing by. I came over after seeing the place being so boisterous," Li Niang explained. "Seeing all these students being so eager, we can’t disappoint them. I permit you to use the main arena. By the way, whose match draws all this commotion?"

"The match is booked by a student named Xin Wuming. But from what I hear, the competing students will be the two freshman students, Gou Dou and Lin Mo."

"Oh...?" Hearing Lin Mo’s name, Li Niang became more interested. Though Amon’s name had crossed her desk multiple times, she had never directly witnessed his action. She planned to leave after learning about the commotion in this place, but after hearing this, she decided to stay.

With the principal’s approval, the aide immediately processed the change of venue.

Amon and Xin Wuming were already at Arena B6. They came more than an hour earlier than the appointed time. They were sitting in the chairs right next to the arena. These chairs were provided for the participants and their aides. The two were currently drinking wine while they waited. Some Vicious members were sitting on the spectator seats behind them.

"Big brother, are you sure it’s okay for me to drink this...?" Xin Wuming asked. The wine they were drinking was the Sky Delight Wine. It was the most expensive wine in this city. One bottle cost eight hundred aer stones. Even for nobles and rich merchants, this wine was a luxury reserved only for special occasions.

"Don’t worry about it," Amon said.

Despite Amon’s words, Xin Wuming was hesitant to lift the cup in his hand. Shouldn’t they at least wait until they win the match before drinking this wine to celebrate?

While Xin Wuming was still hesitating, a staff came and informed them of the venue change.

"The main arena?" Amon asked. The main arena was normally used only for official matches organized by the Royal Academy, so he was rather surprised that their match was moved there.

"It’s the same anywhere. We will win regardless. Come, Wuming! You have been given a bigger stage to make your name," Amon called.
