Rise of The Demon General-Chapter 205. A Contest of Throwing
Chapter 205: Chapter 205. A Contest of Throwing
The three flying rings disappeared from Gao Sou’s hand. Amon closed his eyes. The rings were too fast to see. He relied entirely on his battle instinct to detect the incoming attack.
Amon sensed the three rings came at him from different directions. He lifted his left arm. The Xian Cloth on that hand unraveled. It whirled around him. The long yellow cloth went in a radial path that accurately blocked the three rings. The rings slammed into the soft fabric. They pushed in but failed to pierce through.
While Amon used the Xian Cloth on his left arm to block the rings, his right hand threw another flying knife.
Gao Sou was surprised his opponent successfully stopped his throwing weapons. This surprise almost cost him the match. He moved his head away just as Amon’s knife came flying. The knife missed but nicked his ear.
He touched his ear and found that it was bleeding. He stared at the blood on his hand in disbelief.
The three rings had flown back and were now floating above his hand again. Those rings were made of special materials and were attuned to his aether. They automatically returned after every attack. These special weapons, of course, required tremendous energy. One that only a Transformation stage cultivator could wield.
While Gao Sou was unrattled by having his blood drawn by an opponent he considered much weaker, Amon sent follow-up attacks using his flying knives.
This was not the first time Amon fought an enemy with higher cultivation, so he wasn’t easily distraught by the gap in power. He had defeated an opponent with the same cultivation as Gao Sou during his first day in Qishurg City. He had even killed a cultivator with a stronger cultivation level than Gao Sou not long ago, Luan Fo. Of course, he achieved the feat by surprise tactic and relying on his deadly poison. He couldn’t use his poison in this match, but he had other advantages compared to when he dueled Luan Fo.
The first advantage was he could use his weapons in this match. The second was the opponent. Gao Sou was not only weaker in cultivation compared to Luan Fo, but he could also be considered a lesser combatant. Luan Fo had fought real battles with his lives on the line, while Gao Sou mostly fought controlled matches such as this match they were undertaking.
Due to this, Gao Sou had a harder time coping when he encountered unexpected situations, such as the one he was now experiencing. He fumbled back as he tried to dodge and defend against Amon’s flying knives. Some of the knives grazed him and left cut wounds.
His eyes caught the disbelief expressions of the spectators. He realized then how bad he looked. This roused his anger. He gathered his aether and shouted. A shockwave radiated from him, blasting all the knives flying near him.
"You, bastard! I will make you pay...!" Gao Sou roared.
The rings spinning above his hand burst into flames. They then shot forward.
In his anger, Gao Sou no longer added flair to his attack. The three flaming rings shot straight toward Amon, who was ready. He held the Swan Dagger tied to the Xian Cloth in his right hand while grabbing another part of the cloth in his left. He pulled the cloth and tautened it into a barrier before him. The three flaming rings crashed into this yellow barrier.
The power of the flying rings was significantly stronger after the ignition, but they still couldn’t pierce through the Xian Cloth. Amon skidded back due to the powerful force. His feet scraped across the floor. The friction was so hard it caused cracks on the floor.
He was almost at the edge of the stage before the pushback force was slightly tolerable. He stomped one foot into the floor and used it as a pivoting point. He spun while the flaming rings were still held by the Xian Cloth. Following the spinning motion, he used the Xian Cloth like a slingshot. The three flaming rings were flung back in Gao Sou’s direction.
The rings still possessed their propulsive power. Amon hadn’t negated the force. He instead supplemented them using his slingshot move and returned its propulsion speed to almost full.
Seeing the flaming rings coming at him, Gao Sou exerted aether on his three fingers that controlled the rings to slow them down. The force propelling the rings was too strong to be controlled, though. He needed to move away to avoid getting hit by his own weapons. But when he tried to, he found his legs unable to move.
"What...?!" He looked down and saw in consternation several thin needles stuck in his legs.
Those needles were the ones Amon took from Wei Sui after defeating her. Amon threw the needles among his flying knives earlier. While Gao Sou was defending against the flying knives, the needles stabbed into his legs. They didn’t pierce deep enough due to Gao Sou’s Transformation Stage constitution. This was also why Gao Sou wasn’t aware of the needles hitting him. He didn’t feel any pain.
Even though the needles didn’t penetrate deep enough, the spots they hit were the pressure points that controlled the legs’ movements. Gao Sou’s legs were currently numb. He couldn’t move.
Gao Sou’s reflex was fast enough so he could still act despite these unexpected circumstances. His body bent backward before the flaming rings hit him. The rings flew past from above him.
Gao Sou continued to channel his aether to his three fingers. The rings slowed down due to the pulling force from the fingers. A flash of light suddenly went across those fingers. Stinging pain coursed through his hand as he watched his three fingers fall off from his hand.
"Argghh...!" He screamed as jets of blood shot from his severed fingers.
The flash of light was another of Amon’s flying knives. Amon threw two flying knives once he sent Gao Sou’s rings back at him. Both were targeting the fingers controlling the flying rings. The first knife targeted the position if Gao Sou failed to dodge the rings. The second knife targeted the position if he dodged them.
Amon advanced after throwing his knives. He jumped forward while throwing his Swan Dagger using the rope dart technique. He was ready to finish this match.
