Chapter 683: Chapter 683. Elder God Veil

The five in the hunting party agreed to spend one night preparing for their travel before departing early the next morning. Amon spent his night preparing by staying inside his tent. However, if someone entered his tent, they would not find him there. All they would find was a metal cube atop the commander’s desk.

This metal cube was Yuka’s prison box. Amon entered this box whenever he cultivated the infernal cultivation and trained the Elder God Tentacles. No one could sense his aura when he was inside the box. He, of course, had given the guards outside a strict command that no one was to be allowed entry whenever he used the box.

Normally, he would cultivate or train in the room outside Yuka’s prison. This time, he entered the room where Yuka was restrained.

Yuka greeted Amon with an angry snarl. "You, liar! You haven’t fed me for five months already. Have you forgotten your promise?"

"The deal is that I get your blood in exchange for a meal. I haven’t asked you for any blood these past months, so I don’t see myself breaking any promise," Amon replied.

"Grr... What do you want? I don’t see you bringing any prey for me."

"I want to test something," Amon said.

"Test what?" Yuka asked 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"I estimate your strength is around the Beginning Lord Stage, is it?"

"With this chain and the words of power around this room weakening me, yes, my power is around that level," Yuka answered. "If not for them, I would have easily torn your puppet toy to pieces."

Amon looked at the giant battle puppet built by Shi Zi. This puppet was weaker than his Alpha and Beta Puppets. It also possessed no weapons, but it was enough to constrain the weakened Yuka.

"I know the true power of a Zuanze Butterfly can rival a Peak Lord Stage," Amon said. "That stage is too strong for me. I want to test myself against a Beginning Lord Stage. You will make a fine opponent to test my improvement."

Yuka stared at Amon with a blank face before erupting in maniacal laughter. "Hahaha! Test yourself against me? I admit your cultivation speed is mind-boggling, but you are still an Intermediate Spirit Stage. You must have hit something in your head to think you can survive against me, even in my weakened condition."

Amon didn’t react to Yuka’s ridicule. He walked until he was right beside the circle marking Yuka’s cage.

Yuka saw that Amon was not joking. She said, "Listen, do not expect me to be able to control myself. Once you step inside, I will do all I can to eat you. I am that hungry. Even though I want to eat you very much, I don’t want that to happen before I am free. Who else can bring me food if you are dead?"

"Don’t worry. I won’t die," Amon stated.

After he finished speaking, a dark aura emanated from him. Not long after, the air around him darkened. It was the same effect as when he used the Elder God Tentacles. The difference was that the darkened air where the tentacles burst out was right where he was standing.

Black-pitch tentacles came out. The dark tentacles were much smaller than when he used the Elder God Tentacles, but there were hundreds of them. These small tentacles started wrapping themselves around Amon. As they did so, they merged into a mantle. Before long, Amon was completely wrapped in a black-pitch suit.

This was an arcane art he created, based on the Elder God Tentacles. He achieved this feat thanks to his superb comprehension and S-class affinity to the darkness elements. Even so, he took a long time to create this art. He had begun creating the art before the First Demon Army invaded Khode. Only recently was the art finally completed.

Yuka’s condescending face disappeared after Amon donned the darkness suit. "That is a very dense aura of darkness. What kind of art is that?"

"It is an art I created. I named it the Elder God Veil," Amon said. His voice was muffled. No one would recognize it was his voice. In fact, when he was in this state, no one would know that it was him, and this effect was by design.

Amon squatted down. As he did, the dark suit covering his legs seemed to expand. When he jumped, the air under him exploded. The explosion gave him a speed boost.

Amon’s explosive speed took Yuka by surprise. He had arrived when she was still baffled by his transformation. His straight punch slammed into her head. To her surprise, the punch sent her reeling. Before she could register what had happened, Amon was already on top of her. His two feet stepped on her shoulders, and she was forced to crash into the floor.

"Bastard!" Yuka finally snapped out of her surprise. This surprise was replaced by anger. The giant vertical mouth in her body opened wide, and violent turbulence spewed out.

The deadly wind hit nothing. Amon had already jumped away. Yuka didn’t let Amon go. The tentacles below her body elongated and chased after him. Amon performed multiple rapid dashes in the air using Invisible Sky Steps to avoid getting caught. Every time he changed direction, his darkness suit also produced an explosive air that boosted his speed.

"You will not escape...!!" Yuka screamed. An all-encompassing darkness radiated from her. This darkness engulfed Amon. He found himself in a world devoid of any light. This was the same ability Yuka used when he first encountered her.

The darkness was useless against Amon. Even though the darkness blocked his cultivation senses, he could still detect Yuka’s position from her killing intent. He dashed to her position, which surprised her again. He landed a strong kick to her face.

"I will eat you...!!!" Yuka was full of rage. Twice already, Amon hit her face. The humiliation was too much for her to endure. The large eyes on her two wings flashed. The light emitted by the eyes brightened even her own darkness domain. When Amon saw the light, he suddenly found himself losing control over his body.

The flash only lasted for an instant, though. It was soon gone again.

"Blasted formation!" Yuka cursed. The eye-flash just now was her attempt to use an ability, but she failed to complete it because of the words of power that weakened her.

Even so, the momentary paralyzation Amon suffered from the flash allowed her to catch up. One of her tentacles struck his side, sending him crashing to the floor.

"Haha! How do you like that?" Yuka laughed. She was pleased she could get back at Amon for what he did to her earlier.

Before Amon could rise, she was already upon him. Her tentacles wrapped around him, preventing him from getting up. The giant mouth in her body opened and closed with delight. A loud smacking sound was heard every time the mouth closed. Yuka was savoring the moment. Her giant mouth filled with sharp teeth approached Amon slowly but menacingly. All the while, her tentacles tightened around him. She wanted to break every bone in his body, softening him up before devouring him.

Yet, even when she exerted strength, she discovered she couldn’t squeeze through the dark suit. It was like a sponge that absorbed but also opposed her attempt.

While she was baffled by the resistance from the dark suit, she heard sizzling sounds. She finally realized what caused those sounds when the pain registered. Her tentacles that touched Amon’s suit felt like they were being burned. With a pained scream, she let go of him.

Amon used the chance and jumped away. He landed outside Yuka’s prison.

"Okay, the test is done," Amon uttered. The dark suit that covered him evaporated.

Yuka also released her darkness domain. Everything returned to normal again. She stared intensely at Amon in silence.

Amon was glad about the result. Despite getting hit by a being with the power equivalent to the Beginning Lord Stage, he didn’t suffer any injury. The dark suit not only concealed his identity and boosted his power, but it also protected him and hurt those who touched him.

Two unconscious humans materialized next to Amon. They were still alive, but were drugged so Amon could store them inside his black space ring.

"Here. This is your reward for helping me test my new arcane art," Amon threw the two humans in Yuka’s direction.

Yuka didn’t immediately pounce at the two humans like she normally would. Her gaze remained on Amon.

Amon simply snickered in response. He turned around and left the place without saying anything further.

Yuka watched Amon leave. There was wariness in her eyes. She always thought that time was on her side, that she only needed to endure one hundred years since she met Amon before this place’s energy ran out, and she was released. She realized now that by the time she could escape, Amon might have already become someone she could not challenge.
