Chapter 700: Chapter 700. Gold Form

Jin Guan saw a chance when Jiang Tong was distracted by the sight of King Huang Ti. He bellowed to the other warrior priests, "Brothers, attack with me...!!"

The glaive in his hands morphed into a giant wheel of dark green light. The wheel emitted a razor-sharp aura and bit into Jiang Tong’s shoulder. The friction between the rotating wheel of blades and Jiang Tong’s metallic skin produced fierce sparks.

The other warrior priests also struck. In that short moment when Jiang Tong paused, he was besieged by assaults from all directions. There were so many enemies swarming around him that his figure was lost amid the mass of attackers.

Suddenly, a brilliant golden light shone from the gaps between the attackers. A loud boom followed this golden light. A powerful shockwave radiated, and the mass of attackers was blown away. It was as if a powerful bomb had been detonated.

The only one who still maintained his position was Jin Guan. The giant green wheel in his hand still spun at high speed, trying to cut the person before it.

*CLANG!*

The green wheel broke apart. Jin Guan’s green glaive recoiled from the resulting knockback. Jin Guan’s body was pulled backward by the momentum of his recoiling glaive. If his grip was any weaker, the glaive might have flown out of his hands.

While he was shocked by the recoiling power, he was also stunned by his opponent’s transformation.

Jiang Tong’s previously silver skin had now turned a dazzling golden. The transformation wasn’t limited to his appearance. The aura radiating from him was also much denser. The pressure Jin Guan felt from him made the warrior priest feel like he was facing a completely different opponent.

This was the peak state of Jiang Tong’s Metallic Supremacy, the Gold Form. This form not only gave Jiang Tong an even sturdier defense than the Silver Form, but his overall power was also augmented.

His silver weapons turned into countless tiny balls, which gathered around a glowing energy orb he was squeezing between his hands. The speed at which he executed this compressed explosion art was even faster than when he used it during the battle outside Bright Rock City. The tiny balls shot all over the place due to the explosions. They shredded the nearby warrior priests.

Only Jin Guan managed to survive being in close range when Jiang Tong used the art. He regained control of his glaive when the compressed explosion was unleashed. His glaive spun before him, deflecting the tiny balls that came his way. A few balls still hit him despite his defensive art, but they failed to cause significant damage because a thick layer of wooden skin protected him.

"Hmph!" The tiny balls returned to Jiang Tong’s hand with rapid speed. They merged and transformed into a large blade. As the blade took shape, its color also changed. The golden layer covering Jiang Tong’s body transferred to the blade.

Once the blade was fully covered in a golden layer, a radiant light flashed brightly. At the same time, Jiang Tong bellowed, "Out of my way!"

The golden light rushed at Jin Guan, who was shocked by the speed. He managed to use his glaive to block, but it barely stopped the attack. The golden light flashed past him, and his left shoulder split. Blood gushed out of the large gash in his shoulder.

"Cardinal!" The warrior priests who weren’t hit by Jiang Tong’s compressed explosion came to his rescue. They used the meridian points technique to stop his bleeding.

"Where... Where is he?" Jin Guan asked. He looked around, trying to find Jiang Tong before he struck again.

"Up there!" One of the warrior priests pointed. Jiang Tong was seen flying toward where Mu Qin was fighting the sovereigns of the three countries.

"We must help the Holy Mother... Ugh!" The stinging pain informed Jin Guan that his wound was worse than he thought.

"The Holy Mother has ordered us to retreat!" The warrior priest holding him said. "Saint’s Rest is under attack. We must return. Don’t worry about the Holy Mother. She is invincible. No one can defeat her."

"Urgh... Very well. Let’s retreat," Jin Guan said. Under the protection of his fellow warrior priests, he flew away.

The soldiers of the three countries didn’t give chase. They were not winning the battle. If anything, they were losing more soldiers in the clash. They were glad that the enemies decided to retreat.

Up there in the sky, Dim Loog used his bow and fired never-ending arrows of light. His frantic barrage was to cover his two comrades. Huang Ti suffered a serious wound. Mu Qin targeted him because of his weakened condition. Hou Huang did her best to cover him with the help of Dim Loog’s arrows, but she could barely defend against Mu Qin’s unpredictable hair assaults.

Half of Mu Qin’s hair abruptly became rigid. They were as if countless sharp needles. Hou Huang couldn’t stop all these needle hairs with her flying metal shields. Several slipped through and grazed her. If she had not taken an evasive move, her body would have been full of holes already. However, because of her evasive move, Huang Ti was now wide open. The other half of Mu Qin’s hair slipped past and was about to entangle the old king.

A giant golden axe suddenly came slashing at high speed. It failed to cut Mu Qin’s hair, but it stopped her hair from catching Huang Ti.

"I won’t let you harm Echos’ King!" Jiang Tong exclaimed. He rushed at Mu Qin while swinging his axe.

"A Peak Spirit Stage cultivator? How presumptuous!" Mu Qin exclaimed. She pushed her palm in Jiang Tong’s direction.

A condensed energy pressure hit Jiang Tong. He lost control of his movement. When he stopped, Mu Qin’s palm came and struck his chest. Jiang Tong flew back while spurting blood. He felt like his innards were getting turned inside out. He gritted his teeth and endured the pain. His golden axe turned into a golden boomerang, which he threw forward.

"What?" Mu Qin was surprised that Jiang Tong could survive a direct hit from her. Moreover, he could even deliver a counterattack.

Mu Qin’s hair swayed and slapped the golden boomerang. Her hair caught the weapon once it lost its momentum. The weapon was then thrown down toward the ground. The boomerang dove at an insane speed like a meteor. It crashed into the ground and was buried extremely deep.

"Impressive," Mu Qin said. "From our contact, I can estimate that your body is even tougher than most Lord Stage cultivators. However, that didn’t mean your body is invincible."

Mu Qin’s hair turned rigid again. Additionally, a layer of light green glow spread over her hair. The rigid green hair shot forward and stabbed Jiang Tong’s golden body. The hair failed to penetrate his insanely hard golden skin, but countless fine threads of green light flowed through the hair and seeped into his skin’s pores. These green threads pierced his body. Fumes of blood burst all over his body.

"Argghhh...!!!" Jiang Tong shot back with blood oozing all over him. This was the first time he had been wounded when he activated his Gold Form.

"Jiang Tong!" Huang Ti called with concern. He used his one remaining arm and caught Jiang Tong.

Mu Qin was about to advance again, but she heard the second retreat horn. She looked back and saw that her warrior priests were on standby a distance away. They hadn’t moved because they were waiting for her. As for the armies of the three countries, the Martial Realm soldiers seemed ready to rush to their sovereigns’ aid.

If those soldiers came up, her warrior priests would no doubt return.

"It seems I underestimate you all," Mu Qin told Hou Huang and the others. "Very well, I will delay your punishment. Protecting the temple is more important." She flew away after finishing speaking.

Nobody gave chase.

Although she didn’t show it, Hou Huang was secretly relieved.

"King Huang Ti, your wound..." Dim Loog approached.

"I will live," Huang Ti said. "I have consumed a regrowth pill, but it will take a long time before my arm grows back."

"How is he?" Hou Huang asked. She was referring to Jiang Tong, who seemed to be unconscious in Huang Ti’s arm. Jiang Tong’s skin had turned back to its original bronze color.

"He is badly hurt," Huang Ti said, "But he still breathes. His life is not in danger. Our pill masters will nurse him back to health with time."

"Echos is lucky to have such a fine soldier," Hou Huang remarked.

"He deserves his title, the Immortal God of War," Dim Loog praised. "Any other Spirit Stage cultivator wouldn’t have survived the Holy Mother’s attack."

The mention of the Holy Mother caused the three sovereigns to turn grim again.

"I didn’t expect that woman to be such a monster. No wonder the Hierophant said he required aides to defeat her," Hou Huang said.

"Yes, I dread our next encounter with her," Huang Ti said.

"But we must! The future of our countries depends on us defeating her!" Dim Loog exclaimed.
