Rise of the Lustful Evil Monarch (Re)-Chapter 206: The Invisible Tussle (2)
Third Person's POV
Even as she remained seated on his lap and her arms still entwined around him as she grew serious.
"I was talking about the significance of the soul spell you used. What should I say, it's… extraordinary" she said.
"Even in the Abyssal Sanctum, where the most talented geniuses of the Blood Veil Continent gather, it is incredibly rare to find someone with even a trace of talent in soul and mind magic."
Ethan nodded slightly.
"I don't know where you learned this spell," she continued, "but I am sure you will tell me when you want to—"
"I obtained it when my demon bloodline awakened," Ethan interrupted as his gaze drifted to the carriage walls.
It was already nighttime. With a long pause, he whispered in their ears.
"It happened during the fight with the Void Nihility Demon."
Ethan cut her off as he had already told her about his Demonic paternal lineage which in truth was Devilish in actuality.
He hadn't revealed that detail as he deemed it unnecessary for her to know.
He himself didn't know what was the difference between the Demons of this world and the Devils of the Hell Spire Great World.
It was enough for her to understand that he had awakened the bloodline he inherited from his father.
As for its true origins, he chose to keep that a secret from everyone he knew, for now. Some things, he believed, were best kept to oneself.
He nonchalantly shifted the decorative vase beside him and the carriage walls turned transparent.
The girls' gaze turned to the now transparent walls as they observed the dark forest that had become a blur of shadows while the occasional beam of bloody moonlight broke through the trees.
Virelle's expression shifted to pure shock.
She stared at him and was deep in thought as she connected many dots and the result was that her bloody pupils suddenly constricted.
"I read an old scroll in the castle's library just a few days ago," she whispered.
"It was in the section detailing recent events and continental affairs.
It mentioned something that happened almost two decades ago—an event that shook the entirety of the Central Dominance Lands."
Ethan listened without interrupting.
"A declining Marquis family of the Empire of the Infernal Sovereignty was slaughtered overnight by unknown assailants," she continued.
"They had once been a powerful Ducal House and were one of the Empire's oldest but due to their weakening bloodline and dwindling abilities, they soon lost their status.
Their power was stripped from them, and they were demoted to a mere Marquisate by the collective decision of the alliance of all the nobles of the Empire.
I even think that it was all orchestrated by the royal family itself and there is one big reason for that."
Ethan already had an inkling of where this was going.
"Their family name was Lucent Void," Virelle revealed while she watched him carefully.
"They were feared for their military strength and political power that they had obtained during their peak.
I did some research on them due to my curiosity in the following days. It was said that they almost matched the overall power of the Ignisfel royal lineage in that time period.
And the source of it all was their bloodline which granted them extraordinary innate abilities in soul magic and mind domain."
She paused as she let the weight of her words settle.
"No one ever believed it was possible to inherit soul magic through a bloodline as gaining soul talent was dependent on luck.
Countless scholars and nobles sought to uncover the truth, but the Lucent Void family guarded their secrets fiercely.
Eventually, as I explained their power became too frightening.
I suspect it wasn't just one faction that moved against them and the royal family led the assault with the agreement of the nobles of the the entire Empire."
Ethan remained silent and silently absorbed her words. After a moment, he gave a small nod.

"Yes. My father whom I have never met was the only survivor of the Lucent Void Clan."
His voice was flat and totally devoid of emotion.
He had no personal attachment to the so-called Lucent Void Clan.
He had never met his father and his family even once. And more importantly, he was not some grieving heir who was hell-bent on revenge.
He was a reincarnated soul and carried the memories of another life entirely.
Yes, if the opportunity arose, I might eradicate those responsible if I had the power. But vengeance is obviously not my priority.
His priority for now was to finish the task his Master Nyx gave him.
And if he managed to fulfill that task, she would allow and help him to meet his family in the Dark Star Continent once.
It had been eight full years since his separation from his family. The mention of his father suddenly pulled him into his memories and his focus slipped for a brief moment.
How are Mother and Aurelia? Do they think I am dead and have moved on? Is Grandpa still searching for me?
I must finish this mission… and then, I will finally see them again after eight long years.
His eyes burned with dark fire, and he clenched his fists tighter as resolve hardened in his chest.
Virelle mistook his silence for grief and continued hurriedly.
"The reason I wanted to confirm your lineage is that I don't want you attracting unwanted attention," she said.
"If your soul talent becomes known, you will only attract unwanted attention.
Sooner or later someone would find out the truth.
And the moment they confirm the bloodline of Lucent Void still exists, they will do everything in their power to erase you.
Since we have decided to be together, we already have one of the Empire of Abyssal Dominion as our enemy.
And due to your bloodline abilities, even the Empire of Infernal Sovereignty will see you as a grave threat to their regime..."
