Chapter 475: The Fire Vortex

Third Person’s POV

As they stared upward in stunned silence at the cataclysm unfolding in the heavens, Ethan finally forced himself up from the muddy crater where he had been thrown with his face down into the mud.

His face was smeared with wet mud and grit as it hid both the faintly intoxicated smile still lingering on his lips and the crimson handprint that burned on his cheek, sparing the girls from noticing his embarrassing state.

He was still lost in his lustful fantasy, but his mind soon cleared when he felt the loud explosions in the sky.

A breath later, cold mist rolled across his skin as he roused his icy mana, leading to it surging outward.

Frost spread rapidly over his face, forming a forbidding mask as it froze the mud solid before it shattered into fine flakes of ice that fell away like snow, leaving his skin clean once more.

In the next second, he lifted his head and looked toward the raging sky with a grave, steady gaze as a single thought echoed through his mind.

’What terrifying strength... Thank the gods the little duchess sent this woman to protect me. Otherwise, I would have already been crushed by that brutish monster.’

Even as he felt a brief flicker of relief, Ethan had no idea that something far more dangerous and far-reaching was already looming beyond the horizon and quietly tightening its grip around his fate.

Suddenly, a thunderous roar tore through the sky, so powerful that it ripped apart half of the swirling fiery windstorm above.

"What are you doing, Madam Raven?" Solomon’s voice boomed, heavy with fury and authority.

"Do you truly intend to shield this criminal boy by force, even though his crimes are clear and unforgivable to everyone?"

As his words echoed, the raging clouds parted around him and revealed his towering figure suspended amid blazing light and distorted air, totally uninjured and perfectly fine.

But before anyone could fully register his position, a blinding bolt of crimson lightning ripped across the sky once more and painted the heavens in hellish red and making the world feel as though it had plunged into some infernal realm.

This time, however, the Enforcement Elder Solomon was ready.

Solomon let out a harsh, guttural snort in response and hurled a massive fireball from his hands.

The blazing sphere was so dense and powerful that its recoil flung his own body backward through the air as it shot through the air, leaving behind a blazing orange trail.

The fireball slammed directly into the descending bolt of red lightning, yet instead of exploding as everyone expected, the two forces locked together and started grinding against each other with a shrill, piercing resonance that tore through the air like a scream.

The resulting soundwave was devastating, as many of the younger students cried out as blood trickled from their ears and eyes due to being overwhelmed by the violent vibration.

In Ethan’s little group, Lucy staggered and clutched her head, and even Velcy winced in pain.

Seeing this, Ethan’s eyes widened in alarm as he immediately raised a barrier of dense darkness around them, causing the sound to bend and scatter as it passed the beguiling darkness, sparing the group from further harm.

He returned his attention back to the sky and stared upward in disbelief as the sky-splitting lightning and the enormous orange fireball remained locked in a brutal struggle, radiating immense heat, light, and pressure that made the air itself tremble.

"The one who deserves punishment is you, Solomon," Lady Raven’s cold, commanding voice rang out through the chaos.

"You dared to target a youngling based on unproven accusations, and you even intended to silence him for your own gain.

Do not think you can deceive me as you did to those children."

Solomon’s expression twisted as her words struck uncomfortably close to the truth and revealed the ugly truth hidden behind his so-called reason for punishment, which many secretly knew but didn’t have the guts to say it loud.

Suddenly, a dark, ugly glint flashed in his eyes as he snarled back, his lips curling into a sneer.

"Hah... so the shameless lady finally shows her true colors. You are defending him, despite his crimes. What must be the reason behind it?"

He pretended to think with a mocking expression as he continued,

"Ohh, are you fond of that pretty little boy?" he suddenly clapped his hands and made a shocked face as he said with an amazed expression that was clearly false.

"Judging by his womanizing ways, who knows what the two of you have already been up to... hehehe..."

His laughter echoed with venom and exposed the rot beneath his righteous facade as the sky continued to burn above them.

Seeing such a side of the seemingly strict and righteous Enforcement Elder, chills ran down the spines of the new joiners and the old students combined, as they could have never imagined such base and low behavior from such a dignified and powerful person.

Instantly, the hazy figure of Lady Raven within the raging storm of crimson fire and blood-tinted lightning seemed to solidify, as if her presence suddenly became heavier, denser, and more terrifyingly real.

The air around her warped under the pressure of her will and gathered around her into a giant red cloud that soon started to flash dangerously with glaring bolts of bright scarlet lightning and loud thunder, deafening everyone.

And as everyone watched on with anticipation, in the very next heartbeat another blinding bolt of scarlet lightning tore free from her outstretched hand.

It split the sky with a shrill, ear-piercing crack that echoed across the entire battlefield like the cry of a dying god. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

The second bolt screamed through the air toward the massive fireball, carrying with it an overwhelming intent to annihilate, not just the fireball but also the brutish Enforcement Elder standing behind it as well.

The heavens were drowned in red once again, even the thick black storm clouds parting as the violent glow swallowed the sun and painted the land below in an ominous, hellish crimson twilight.
