Rise of The Strongest Monarch-Chapter 44: The Death of A Teacher
I dash forward and immediately swing my sword towards her.
Clang!!!!
Just barely she manages to block against my attack in time but this isn’t exactly a problem for me; I begin to swing relentlessly at her as she continues to try to block.
Swing!!!!
Blood is hitting my blade more and more with each swing as her defense starts to fall apart.
Her sword falls onto the floor as I finally pierce mine through her chest. With that her movement comes to a complete stop as she just stands there.
I look towards her eyes to see tears beginning to go down her cheeks.
It forces me to pull the sword out as she falls to her knees, blood pouring out from the wound in her chest. The tendrils themselves are slowly disappearing, along with the black veins going throughout her neck and face.
There wasn’t any other choice for me to make here... it was a life or death situation for everyone involved. She is probably going to die here but I didn’t have much of a choice in the matter.
"I can’t do that to you. It is very surprising that it even happened to her," The woman speaks up with disappointment.
What does that even mean?
"Infections like me take a lot of strength to even just talk to the host," She answers.
What about the times that you help me out? Like when I got to use that knife to kill the first zierel I ran into?
"That also took a lot of strength just to produce a weapon for you to use. Again, it is surprising that the woman’s infection took over," She responds before disappearing.
Thud!
Before I can even thinking about anything else I realize that Miss Rose is now laying on the ground, blood slowing forming around her.
Stab!!!
Amelia takes her knife out from miss roses neck as she moves away from her, I didn’t even know she went over in the first place.
"Better to be safe. We have plenty of zierel looking at us while we wait here," Amelia says while cleaning her knife off.
"Yeah," I reply quietly.
I didn’t know her that well since I left my first day here but she did understand what it is like to have an infection living inside of you. She was probably a good teacher here as well so I hope she finds peace in the afterlife.
Something that I hope my family found.
I turn around to face the remaining zierel that stare at us in the distance, each one a different size from one another. None of them seem to be inching forward in the slightest though.
Almost like they are waiting for some sort of signal to attack.
Grip.
I don’t know if it is out of anger or not but I can feel my grip tightening around the handle of the sword once again. The thought of just killing them all here is all that I can think about.
"What can you even do?"
"Yes what can you do?"
"Nothing probably."
Voices of people I don’t even know echo around me as I look down towards my sword... Still soaked with miss roses blood. I look back up towards the zierel afterwards.
"What do you want to do here?" Amelia asks while spinning her knife around.
"Killing them quickly would be the best option here, wouldn’t it." I respond with a serious tone.
Amelia walks past me and turns around, now standing directly in front of me.
"Just don’t let anger fuel the way you fight. That is how a lot of people tend to die in battle, rage isn’t the way," Amelia says before turning back around. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Slash!!!!
Without thinking I find my blade slashing across one of the zierel, spilling blood like I’ve been doing all day. One, two, three, four.
Bodies continue to drop as I keep pushing myself to move faster, swing harder, and to dodge the attacks. Occasionally I feel a claw graze me as I swing the sword but it doesn’t stop me.
Amelia said not to let the rage fuel my fighting but I might be doing that already.
Everything around me is crimson red with nothing letting up in the slightest. My blade continues to tear through the flesh of the zierel around me until I finally get hit back by something.
As I’m flying back a bit I use my sword to slow me down until I finally come to a stop.
The person who sent me back is definitely strong since I’m all the way back by the tree that sits in the center of the courtyard.
Who cares if rage fuels me? Killing these pieces of shit is all that matters to me.
They took away my family and are nothing but a damn plague to this world. I’ll use this rage of mine to kill all of the ones here in the damn courtyard.
I push off the ground with some force, sending myself back towards the rest of the zierel. As I reach them, I drive my sword through one of their chests before kicking it off of my sword.
Thud!!!!!
Its body hits the ground and I begin to notice that most of them are dead. The one who hit me back couldn’t have been one of these ones since they are all dead for the most part.
Shove!
I feel myself get pushed out of the way as I turn to see a scythe slashing down across Amelia. I fall back onto the ground and continue to look towards her.
The zierel wielding the scythe seems to be the same exact one that Airi fought against at the church originally.
But it isn’t the time for me to be focusing on which one it is since Amelia just put her life on the line to move me. She’s now laying there on the ground... probably in pain.
"You can’t beat a hybrid like this," The woman speaks up with concern in her voice.
"But I can’t sit around and watch this happen either," I respond while standing back up.
