Roadmap to the Boundless Sky-Chapter 111Book 3, : Chase Away All The Troubles In The Heart
Among the cars blocking the road was a dark-green convertible. The rich siblings Chen Chuan and Sun Rao had managed to chase back to the hotel were sitting inside it.
The security guard in charge of their safety was at the back. He was ignoring all that was happening in front of him, as if none of it was of any concern to him.
“Damn it! What’s going on?” the boy cursed. When he found that he was unable to use his Realm Pass, it made him even more annoyed, and he kept pressing on the car horn.
At that moment, he saw a tall man jumping down and landing with a loud crash on the car further away. The car’s roof immediately caved. The man jumped away and landed on another car, causing it to end up the same way as the one before it. Faint screams came from those cars.
Judging by the man’s trajectory, he was going to jump on their car, but that didn’t terrify the boy. Instead, it excited him. He turned around and pointed at the man. “Go and kill him.”
The security guard was stony-faced, but when he got a good look at the man, his expression changed, and he growled at the siblings, “We’re leaving, now!”
“Leaving? Why?”
The boy was displeased. Then, he had a sudden idea and grabbed the gun he had for self-defense. In one smooth motion, he brought it up and fired at the man.
Bang!
Smugly, he said, “This is just self-defense.”
The security guard’s expression changed completely. He knew who the man was, and his attention was entirely focused on him. The security guard didn’t even dare move because he was worried that the man would react violently toward them. It was precisely because of this reason that he was unable to stop the boy from firing the gun.
It was too late now.
The boy was a pretty good shot, and his bullet landed accurately on the man, but it didn’t seem to have hurt him at all, because it only sank into his epidermis. It did, however, catch the man’s attention, and he looked over.
Cold sweat broke out on the security guard’s forehead. He had no time to care about anything else and just grabbed the siblings’ collars before jumping out of the convertible.
The moment he left, the man jumped up and landed on the car in front of them with a crash. Then, he grabbed the car’s bumper so hard that the metal became twisted as it let out creaking sounds. Then, with a casual fling, the car came flying toward them.
The security guard could tell that they wouldn’t be able to avoid it, so he had to let go of the siblings and blocked it by pushing his hands forward.
The moment he did, he felt a gentle, yielding force contained within the car, even though it seemed to have been charging at them with the force of a truck. Once he placed his hands on it, he couldn’t move them away. With no other choice, he had to endure the refined force charging into him while frozen in place.
After being unceremoniously dragged out of the convertible, the siblings sat on the road. The sight of the car charging at them had made them scream in terror, and they quickly brought their hands up while turning their heads to the side, but after a moment, they didn’t hear anything, so they opened their eyes to look, only to see their security guard standing in front of them blocking the car.
The shock made the boy curse at him. “Are you useless or what?! Why aren’t you moving?! Kill him!”
But even after some time passed, the security guard did not move.
That was because while the security guard remained standing, his organs had all been reduced to bits and pieces due to the refined force. He was already dead.
In his worked up state, the boy wanted to say something more when a deformed bullet pierced his head. It had so much force that it threw his head back. Then, with his mouth wide open, he fell back.
His sister watched all of it in shock and only realized what had happened after a long time had passed. When what was going on finally sank in, she screamed and scrambled to her feet to begin running, but after taking just a few steps, she felt all her strength leave her body, and she saw a hole in her stomach. Cradling it, she walked a few more steps before falling on her face.
At that moment, the passengers and drivers in the other cars realized that something was very wrong. Some of them even recognized who the man was, and they got out of their cars in a panic to run away while screaming in terror. Shoes slipped off their feet, and they fell down.
The road descended into utter mayhem.
Wei Wusheng ignored all of them. He just looked ahead at the person walking over to him with a saber in hand. He, too, walked to that person.
Chen Chuan’s gaze was fixed on Wei Wusheng, though his dark eyes remained calm. Despite the people running away in panic, the chaos didn’t affect his gait.
The cars in the road blocked off some of the sun, but whenever he walked past one, a ray of sunlight would shine on him from between the cars. Thus, while moving between light and dark, Chen Chuan walked toward Wei Wusheng.
While they were walking in different directions, they were both walking toward their targets—each other.
When they were around twenty meters away, they stopped at the same time.
“We didn’t get to finish our fight last time. We can continue it today,” Wei Wusheng said.
“Then, I hope that you won’t leave before the fight ends, like last time,” Chen Chuan shot back while meeting his gaze.
Wei Wusheng removed the hammer from his waist and gripped the handle tightly. “This time, no one will bother us. Before our fight ends, I won’t leave.”
Chen Chuan lifted his saber and positioned it horizontally in front of himself, with the blade positioned right over Wei Wusheng’s neck. With a flick of his right hand, the sheath landed on the road, revealing the snow-white blade. The line on its back was a brilliant red.
“That would be for the best,” he said.
Both of them were close to the arena, so while the transfer of information from the domain to this place was quite slow since the signal was weak, they could still get some information. Hence, quite a number of people stood in the buildings and roofs around them.
Most of them had been drawn due to the accident, but they recognized Wei Wusheng. After all, he had been on the news frequently.
But who was the person about to fight him?
Judging by the uniform, was he from the Resolution Department?
The crowd became excited and used their Realm Passes to try and send information outward, but due to the domain signal in the area being blocked, their Realm Passes were reduced to mere decorations. They started cursing up a storm.
Once the Martial Valor University students learned from the fleeing people that Wei Wusheng had come, they were shocked as well as terrified.
Why was he here?
They weren’t far from the arena, so most of the city’s security was stationed here. Then, they had another thought. Perhaps it was precisely because of this that Wei Wusheng dared to show up here. After all, the security here couldn’t leave their stations at random, and since the domain signal had been blocked...
Mr. Bai, the lecturer traveling with the students, watched Chen Chuan as he stood facing Wei Wusheng. His expression was grave.
Students couldn’t possibly win against Wei Wusheng, but Chen Chuan wore the Resolution Department’s uniform. He had even taken the initiative to meet Wei Wusheng. Was this the Resolution Department’s plan?
Were there more officers nearby?
While he looked around for them, he saw Chen Chuan charging forward. The students in the bus only saw him leaning forward before vanishing. The next moment, he appeared near Wei Wusheng.
Mr. Bai was shocked. Was Chen Chuan at the Third Limit?
While airborne, Chen Chuan grabbed the saber with both hands and swung down at Wei Wusheng’s head.
He might be in his pre-fusion state, but everyone’s standards were different. Since the All-Encompassing Force focused on covering the entire body with mutated tissue, even if he was one step away from reaching the Third Limit, his speed already matched that of those considered true Third Limit martial artists.
When he swung his saber down, the blade created a silver crescent-shaped flash, which was so bright that it made the light from everywhere else, even the sun, dim, as if they had been cut apart.
Wei Wusheng’s expression hardened. He often got hurt, but that wasn’t because he wasn’t strong enough. It was simply how he fought. He traded blows for blows and risked his neck to claim his opponent’s life.
Even so, when he got hurt, he made sure that he hurt his opponent worse. He wouldn’t meet an attack head-on for no reason.
Chen Chuan had accumulated enough power before executing the slash, so it carried power and speed beyond the bounds of an ordinary attack. If Wei Wusheng avoided it, he would be forced into a defensive position by Chen Chuan’s subsequent barrage of attacks.
Hence, he couldn’t let Chen Chuan complete his attack. He had to stop it.
While Wei Wusheng was staring at the saber flash, all the experience he had accumulated allowed his body to move faster than his mind. He reacted in the most logical fashion by grabbing his hammer with both hands and bringing it up to parry the attack.
The next instant, the saber and hammer clashed against each other.
It was as if time had stopped. While Chen Chuan pushed his saber down, his body seemed frozen in the air. The power he had accumulated was still charging into his opponent.
Wei Wusheng continued holding the hammer with both hands, but the road under his feet started cracking.
After around two breaths, while Chen Chuan still had some strength remaining, he changed his attack. He landed on the road, and with a stomp, he charged to his one o’clock while holding the saber in a diagonal fashion. With just his speed and power, he dragged the saber forward to try cutting into Wei Wusheng.
But when he moved past Wei Wusheng, he felt the hammer parrying his attack. After that brief clash, he ended up more than ten meters behind Wei Wusheng.
His great speed and strength not only allowed him to fight in a wide area, but to also do crazy maneuvers. Since they fought without holding back, this bit of distance was simply nonexistent to both of them.
Switching to a one-handed hold, Chen Chuan extended the saber, stomped on the road, turned around, and charged back.
His uniform was practically stuck to his body, and his hair flew back, as if it was trying to yank him backward.
Once again, the saber and hammer clashed before they parted. But this was just the beginning. As Chen Chuan gathered his momentum, he was only going to become faster.
Wei Wusheng wasn’t going to just stand still in the face of this offense either. He started moving as well.
Hence, as the spectators and students watched, Wei Wusheng and Chen Chuan turned into a blur before their very eyes while moving at lightning speed. Only Mr. Bai was able to see their fight clearly.
Bam!
Then, they heard the sonic boom created when the air was sliced apart. Pieces of the road flew up as long gashes were left on it. Cracking sounds tore through the air, and a metal street light fell down and crashed on the road.
Bam!
A moment later, an empty bus skidded away. A huge hole had been torn through it, as if it had been hit by a cannonball. The next moment, an empty car across from the bus was split in half, seemingly by nothing, and everything in its path was reduced to shreds.
The area was getting damaged left and right, and the attacks were gradually getting closer to the bus where the students were.
