Chapter 388: Transcendent

Ackster didn’t understand what happened at first. He thought The Hero did something to his body. But the transformation he earned when he finished refining the world power had just transcended his expectations.

As soon as the world power fused with Ackster’s Ichor, the golden orb lit up with a dazzling light. Ackster felt his power soar. His body and Ichor surged with boundless power. That power radiated outward with a blue sheen.

Ackster looked at his hand as his power expanded outward.

It wasn’t just his Ichor that had undergone a metamorphosis. All that was Ackster received a qualitative evolution as the world power flooded his body and transformed it to be suitable for the unfathomable energy of the world power.

Ackster looked at The Hero.

The Hero was more than a little surprised.

Ackster had made The Hero think about life, the meaning of existence, and the reason for doing all he was doing. But while The Hero thought about all of that, Ackster did something and underwent an explosive change.

The Hero could sense Ackster’s evolution and the development of his ability to control world power.

Ackster possessed an ability that brought him power of a similar level to The Hero’s world power.

Being of a similar level meant Ackster could hurt The Hero.

That wasn’t good. For The Hero.

But it was exactly the thing Ackster needed to finally put an end to this battle.

Ackster’s bright Ichor filled his body with power as he summoned the Demon Sword into his hand and gave it a taste of the greatest energy it had ever experienced. With an appetite sharp enough to cut the air, the Demon Sword hungered for more. It craved more.

Fortunately, it had a seemingly endless supply right in front of it.

Ackster didn’t even need to communicate his intentions to the Demon Sword. Both of them charged at The Hero like they were one being.

The Hero shied away. It felt how powerful Ackster was. But more than that, both Ackster and the Demon Sword gave him a sense of deep fear. They gave IT a feeling of dread.

The Voice controlling The Hero felt it.

After talking to it, Ackster had gained the ability to destroy it.

However, if Ackster thought it would be that easy, he was sorely mistaken.

The Voice wasn’t an easy opponent, even if Ackster had acquired the ability to utilize world power and a sword that could cut world power. After all, it had existed since the second Hero.

Although the Voice hadn’t gained cognition until much later, it was still an existence older than almost all dragons. And for all of its existence, it had been in contact with the world’s operations and the power of those operations.

Using world power wasn’t second nature to the Voice. World power was the Voice’s nature.

It had been limited in capability due to The Hero’s body, even if it was that very body that let it manipulate world power without restriction. But when the Voice got used to The Hero’s body and acclimatized to being more than an incorporeal lifeform without a physical body, it could use Millmeria’s world power to perform and execute miracles more impressive than simple immortality.

Besides, with Ackster’s recent evolution, The Hero’s immortality had lost a large portion of its effectiveness.

But The Hero could still cut through the space several strides in front of himself with barely a swing of his sword. The Hero’s moves transcended cause and effect.

He didn’t slash and then the space overlapping with Ackster was cut. The space was cut at the same time as The Hero initiated the thought behind the slash. It was impossible to react to.

No, it should be impossible to react to.

The Hero’s attacks blotted out the sky like a dark net of destroyed space.

Wherever Ackster was, another streak appeared.

However, none of the streaks touched Ackster. He was too fast. He was too sensitive.

Ackster read the changes in the air and the space around him while also analyzing every single micro-movement on The Hero’s face. He didn’t even need to spend that much effort analyzing The Hero’s expressions.

It was the first time the Voice controlled a physical body. It had no idea how to control its subconscious facial expressions. Ackster read the Voice like an open book. His senses were so keen he couldn’t help it.

Ackster’s affinity for space was also so great that the rapidly fading ruptures in Millmira’s space, which showed endless darkness on the other side, helped mask his presence as he fluttered around in the sky and the ocean like a butterfly.

But he wasn’t just running around and avoiding The Hero’s attacks. He was learning. With each stride he took, with each jump he made, and with each space slash he dodged, Ackster stole the Voice’s insights and understanding of world power.

Ackster didn’t have time to learn such a complex power on his own when he was in the middle of a fight. But he had the best individual to teach him about it.

Since he would benefit from understanding world power long after he beat the Voice, he wanted to milk it for as much as it was worth.

However, he had to put what he learned into practice. So, he started tanking, blocking, parrying, repelling, and returning The Hero’s attacks.

The Hero’s face grew grim. Ackster was just playing around.

The Hero paused for a moment and took a deep breath. When he exhaled, the world power storm grew in size. It swelled like a pufferfish as more and more world power came from all over the world.

The world was already in a state of disarray due to The Calamity. But that was superficial damage done to most civilizations of the living beings of Millmeria.

Now, due to The Hero’s actions, several places were hit by draughts, floods, volcano eruptions, and natural disasters that spelled doom for all areas hit by them.

’That’s not good.’

The Hero was taking all of the world’s world power for itself and gathering it in one place. Ackster couldn’t let that continue.

It was time to go all out and put an end to this before The Hero’s actions became irreversible.

Ackster kicked Limit Breaker beyond its limits and focused it on his Ichor.

A thought struck him as he dashed toward The Hero with his sword pointed at the latter’s skull.

’Worth a shot.’
