Chapter 355: Chapter 333: Do You Want a Child?

A few days later, the custom wedding rings arrived. After finishing his work in the afternoon, Fu Jichen personally went to pick up the rings from the jewelry store.

When Shen Jianian returned from the studio, she saw the man sitting in the living room flipping through a magazine. His long legs were crossed, and there was a cup of steaming tea on the coffee table.

Upon hearing the door open, Fu Jichen lifted his head from the magazine and, seeing that the person who entered was Shen Jianian, he closed the book, placing it casually on the armrest of the sofa, and got up to take the cello off her back, gently wiping the sweat off her forehead.

Shen Jianian’s cheeks were flushed with a healthy red hue, and she casually asked, "How did you get back earlier than I did?"

"I didn’t have much to do in the afternoon, so I left the office early." After placing the cello case down, Fu Jichen went to the kitchen and brought her a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice.

Shen Jianian drank more than half the glass in one go, and just as she was about to put the cup down, Fu Jichen took it from her, leaned over to place it on the coffee table, then held one of her hands.

Shen Jianian’s gaze lowered, watching the hand held by the man, and she saw Fu Jichen take out a black square velvet box from the pocket of his trousers.

"This is..."

With just one glance, Shen Jianian guessed what was inside, but before she could finish her sentence, Fu Jichen completed it for her: "The custom wedding rings have arrived. I picked them up today."

Shen Jianian slightly lifted the corners of her lips, exposing his clumsy lie: "It’s not like I haven’t been to that jewelry store. Don’t you remember, we went there together last time. It’s not on the way to your office at all, you went out of your way to get it, didn’t you?"

Having been exposed, Fu Jichen didn’t show any sign of embarrassment, he raised an eyebrow and smiled gently: "Yes, I went out of my way. I couldn’t wait to see the gift Mrs. Fu gave me, so I left early in the afternoon."

Shen Jianian murmured, "I told you not to call me Mrs. Fu, it doesn’t sound nice."

Fu Jichen pulled her to sit down on the sofa, opened the box with one hand, took out the ladies’ ring, and slid it onto Shen Jianian’s ring finger, slowly pushing it to the base of her finger, lifting his eyes to look into hers: "Then what should I call you?" He paused, his voice slightly lower, like the sound of her pulling the last string on the cello, "Wife?"

Shen Jianian’s gaze that was on the ring lifted slightly to meet his eyes, and their eyes met, as an air of affection surrounded them.

They had been married for a while, yet neither of them had changed their form of address to "husband" or "wife." When they needed to call each other, it was still the same as before; Fu Jichen called her "Shen Jianian" or "Jianian," and Shen Jianian did the same, calling him by his name.

Suddenly hearing him call her "wife" in such a deep voice, Shen Jianian felt a bit shy, and the blush on her face became even more pronounced.

Unable to withstand his straightforward and burning gaze, Shen Jianian was the first to avert her eyes, lowering her head, and taking the other men’s ring from the box, she grabbed his hand and put it on for him.

"It looks great." Shen Jianian extended her hand, placing it together with his.

The man’s fingers were slender and defined, with a broad palm, while the woman’s hand was delicate and slender, almost boneless, and both had rings on their ring fingers, making it obvious that they were a pair.

Fu Jichen turned his hand over, grabbed her hand and held it in his, his gaze slightly lowered, looking at her face, coaxing: "I haven’t heard you call me ’husband’ yet."

Shen Jianian felt a mix of helplessness and amusement, her voice small: "Who seriously talks about these things, isn’t it supposed to just... come naturally?"

Fu Jichen nodded lightly in agreement: "Yes, naturally call me ’husband’ and let me hear it."

Unable to hold back a laugh, Shen Jianian dove into his arms, and Fu Jichen, caught off guard by her sudden move, leaned back against the sofa, holding her waist tightly with both hands.

They locked eyes once more, his gaze full of anticipation. Shen Jianian hesitated for a moment before softly mumbling, "Hub...husband."

Fu Jichen tilted his head slightly, his ear turned towards her: "What did you say? I didn’t hear clearly."

Shen Jianian wouldn’t have it, she reached out and pinched his earlobe: "Are you deaf?"

"Maybe I’m getting old, and my hearing isn’t as good."

Shen Jianian couldn’t hold it in anymore and burst out laughing, having never seen someone in their thirties claim to be getting old.

Fu Jichen pinched her waist, lifting her a bit higher, changing their position so that Shen Jianian was lying fully on top of him, her face to his chin. Fu Jichen repeated: "Say it again, I really didn’t hear."

Shen Jianian thought, since there was no one else here, she turned her head slightly and said softly in his ear several times: "Husband, husband, husband... is that enough?"

Her voice was soft and delicate, the warm breath like feathers gently sweeping over his ear, making his heart itch.

His voice was hoarse, taking advantage: "Not enough, say it once more."

Shen Jianian felt that once she got used to calling him that, it wasn’t so embarrassing. She opened her mouth to oblige him: "Hu..."

Before the word "band" could come out of her mouth, Fu Jichen had already cupped her chin and lifted it, bowing his head at the same time, capturing her lips.

She probably didn’t realize how much she attracted him, just a few calls, and he was utterly enchanted.

In an instant, their positions reversed, Shen Jianian’s head was supported by a warm and large hand, and her body sank into the soft sofa, feeling his deep and shallow kisses.

Amidst her dazed thoughts, she suddenly heard the sound of slippers shuffling, and Shen Jianian snapped back to reality, realizing they were in the open living room, not a private bedroom, and quickly pushed Fu Jichen away.

The footsteps stopped abruptly, seemingly aware of appearing at an inappropriate time, quickly retreating back to the kitchen.

Out of the corner of her eye, Shen Jianian caught a glimpse of a shadow at the kitchen door, it was Aunt Cheng, and her face flushed hotly as she saw the person on top of her not moving, so she pushed him again: "Get up... Aunt Cheng saw us."

Fu Jichen’s voice was heavily hoarse: "In a moment."

Shen Jianian suddenly realized something and stopped urging him, waiting quietly.

In order to force himself to shift his attention, Fu Jichen brought up a topic to talk to her about, though his voice remained hoarse: "Regarding the wedding venue and the style of the wedding dress, do you have any thoughts?"

While trying to calm her rapid breathing, Shen Jianian followed along and thought about it. During her early infatuations, she had many beautiful fantasies about the wedding, but now it seemed less important. Beyond the grand wedding ceremony, their feelings for each other mattered more.

"Simple is fine." After speaking, Shen Jianian suddenly realized that due to Fu Jichen’s status, the wedding wasn’t just about the two of them, it involved business too, "If the wedding is too simple, would it affect the Fu Family’s reputation?"

Fu Jichen said, "The Fu Family’s reputation is secondary, but making it too simple would wrong you."

Just as Shen Jianian was about to say it wouldn’t, Fu Jichen interrupted her words that hadn’t been spoken: "Speaking of the Fu Family, we haven’t gone back to the old house to see the elders since we got our marriage license. Should we have a meal there this weekend?"

So many days had passed, surely the old man’s anger had mostly dissipated. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

Of course, if Jianian wasn’t willing to go, he would respect her wishes, and it could be arranged for later. He didn’t want her to endure any more grievances.

Shen Jianian wasn’t prepared for this, not even keeping pace with the conversation’s sudden shift from the wedding to visiting the elders back at the old house. After a moment of silence, she asked in an uncertain tone: "This weekend?"

"Yes."

"Then I’ll prepare in advance." Shen Jianian also realized that since she and Fu Jichen were married, she hadn’t met his elders, which indeed seemed inappropriate, so she didn’t decline.

"No need to prepare anything, I’m here with you."

The two chatted for a while until dinner was ready, they washed their hands and moved to the dining room to eat.

Originally, Shen Jianian planned to go for a walk after dinner, but Fu Jichen directly pulled her into the elevator. The moment the elevator door closed, he leaned over and pressed her against the elevator wall, kissing her.

This was their private elevator; there was no concern about being seen by others.

The third floor arrived in the blink of an eye, the elevator door opened, and Fu Jichen didn’t break the kiss as he walked them down the hall and into their bedroom. He gently laid her down on the soft mattress as he continued to kiss her deeply and warmly, their surroundings fading away.
