Ruling the Historical Romance Novel as the Female Supporting Character-Chapter 25: The Su Family Had No Regard for Qin Kaize
Su’s mother sighed, somewhat helplessly, and smiled, "My eldest daughter and the youngest son of the Qin family just don’t get along. They fought and quarreled right after the wedding banquet. We had to call it off. Fortunately, they haven’t registered their marriage certificate yet; otherwise, it would be even more troublesome."
"What do you mean by ’don’t get along’? Clearly, it’s..."
"You shut your mouth!" Su’s mother’s eyelids twitched, immediately interrupting Su Yijia’s retort.
However, Su Yijia retaliated with a slap, landing it firmly on Su Xinyue’s face. "What did your precious little sister do? You know it well. You couldn’t bear her being criticized, so you shifted the blame onto me? Shameless! She has the ability to crawl into her brother-in-law’s bed but doesn’t have the courage to admit it?"
She could confront the Qin family, even if they were her in-laws. However, she couldn’t raise a hand against her biological parents. Fortunately, there was a scapegoat right next to her, Su Xinyue, who could take the hits for her.
"Sister!!!" Su Xinyue covered her face and screamed, tears streaming down, looking wronged.
Su’s mother immediately embraced her, glaring at Su Yijia. "What have you done? Are you trying to turn the world upside down?"
The neighbors, who had been watching the spectacle, started whispering to each other.
"Tsk, tsk! Unbelievable! Su Xinyue, who looks gentle and delicate, would do such a shameless thing."
"If this gets out, she’ll probably be criticized and sent to a labor camp, right? I don’t know if she’ll go to jail, but she’ll definitely receive re-education on a farm."
Thinking about the fact that the Su family had such a daughter, they felt that the entire residential area was tainted.
If they weren’t afraid of losing face, they would have reported it to the neighborhood committee already.
"Su Yijia, what were you saying out there? Were you trying to push your sister to the brink?" Su’s father was so angry that his head was spinning. He leaned against the wall and interrogated her.
Su Yijia lazily walked over to a chair, pulled it out, and sat down. Su’s mother, seeing her act so indifferently, sat down on the floor and burst into tears. "What kind of karma have I brought upon myself? Why did I give birth to such an unfilial daughter? I’d be better off dead; at least that way, it would be over."
Su Yijia crossed her arms and stared coldly at her mother’s dramatic performance.
Watching the woman sobbing with tears and snot all over, Su Yijia suddenly realized where Su Xinyue had learned her behavior from.
"If I’m unfilial, should we let our neighbors judge?" Su Yijia sarcastically remarked, her patience running thin.
Her words were like needles, piercing through Su’s mother’s desire for drama. They wanted to put on a show but were afraid that Su Yijia would lose control and cause a scene in the corridor. In the end, they reluctantly quieted down.
"Fine, we can’t control you now. But today, it’s your return to your parents’ house, and relatives will be coming over. You should hurry up and prepare lunch," Su’s mother urged with disdain.
Su Yijia stretched lazily, her bones cracking as she moved. She stood up and said, "What return to my parents’ house? I’m not married to Qin Mingcheng, and if you really want to clarify things with our family, why didn’t you keep Kaize here when he left just now?"
"What’s the use of keeping him here? To let your uncles and cousins make fun of him? We let you choose your husband on your own. No matter what, you can’t give up and marry a living corpse who’s completely paralyzed. If it weren’t for the fact that you’ve already obtained the marriage certificate with him, I wouldn’t agree to let you marry him, even if I had to die," Su’s mother’s voice was on the verge of breaking, as if she had stepped on a tail. She raised her voice and then stiffened her face, tightly pursing her lips.
Clearly, she was worried that if the neighbors outside overheard, it would become the gossip of teatime conversations.
