Chapter 311: Is Her Temper That Good?

The police officers frowned, finding Su Yijia’s insistence on details excessive. After all, she had initially agreed to go with them, but now she was refusing.

In fact, Su Yijia had no intention of cooperating with their investigation. With so many rumors circulating these days, she couldn’t possibly explain herself to everyone if she went along with them.

"Where exactly was Wang Futong attacked? What time did she go to the hospital? 5:30 is around the time people are finishing work. Is there only one witness? My husband and I arrived at the dock at 5:50, and there were plenty of witnesses there. We left the State-Owned Restaurant at 5:30, and the twenty-minute journey could easily be verified. If we were the ones who attacked her, the timing would not match. However, please let Wang Futong know that we will not tolerate her false accusations," Su Yijia said firmly.

"Don’t be angry; her suspicion is justifiable," one of the officers quickly explained.

Qin Kaize suddenly interjected, "If her suspicion is justifiable, then what about you? With no solid evidence, how can you use this as a basis for taking us in? Do you realize the impact this could have? Or do you only care about your own job without considering the consequences for others?"

His voice was cold and menacing, causing the officers to visibly flinch.

"W-We’re sorry!" they stammered, sweating nervously. Cases like this happened every month, with victims often unable to provide clear explanations. This time, they were eager to find a suspect, leading them to act hastily. Now, with tensions escalating between different departments, they knew they might face serious consequences.

Qin Kaize and Su Yijia, however, were not willing to accept their apologies.

"Go back. I will discuss this with your superiors. Your actions could harm many innocent people," Qin Kaize said darkly, showing no room for negotiation.

The officers, realizing their mistake, quickly apologized again and left.

"So, who do you think attacked Wang Futong?" Su Yijia asked, looking at the retreating figures with curiosity. Her question was meant for the eavesdropping neighbors rather than for Qin Kaize.

"Maybe she was involved with another man," Qin Kaize suggested, playing along.

In reality, both knew that the most likely scenario was that Wang Futong had been beaten by Qin Kaize’s subordinates. To frame them, she had deliberately fabricated the time of the attack, ensuring that their alibi would be compromised unless they had returned to the island by four or five in the afternoon.

Turning to face the concerned Grandpa Lin and Grandma Lin, Qin Kaize tensed. Although he had no direct connection to Wang Futong, he worried that this situation might make Jiajia’s grandparents doubt his ability to provide her with stability.

However, Grandpa Lin and Grandma Lin only looked disgusted. "Who is this Wang Futong? She lost her job and was publicly beaten but still can’t behave herself?"

"Exactly. This person clearly has issues. She’s dragging Jiajia and Ze into her mess. It’s shameless of her to even bring up our family!" Grandpa Lin and Grandma Lin had seen their fair share of stubborn and rebellious people during their twenty years on the farm, but they had never encountered someone who repeatedly made trouble in such a short period.

"Grandpa, Grandma, don’t be angry. People like her won’t last long. Our lives are getting better, and we don’t need to stoop to her level," Su Yijia quickly interjected, trying to calm them.

Grandpa Lin, however, disagreed, "Jiajia, you can’t have such a good temper; otherwise, people will keep bullying you."

She has a good temper? Su Yijia twitched at the corners of her eyes. She was just trying to placate her grandparents. In reality, even if Wang Futong was a mad dog, Su Yijia would bind her up and beat her to a pulp.

"Okay, I’ll have Kaize talk to her husband. As a leader in the team, he needs to manage his family well," Su Yijia said with a stern expression.

Grandma Lin and Grandpa Lin nodded in approval. "That’s a good idea. Married women usually listen to their husbands more."

Whether Su Yijia would heed this advice or not was uncertain, but with Wang Futong’s behavior, she knew that after making a fool of herself yesterday, Wang Futong would likely face severe consequences once Xue Qianhao returned.

"I’ll go right now," Qin Kaize said, preparing to visit Xue Qianhao.

"Have breakfast first," Grandma Lin insisted, stopping him. "Those people aren’t worth ruining your health over."

"Yes, we made pork and sauerkraut dumplings and shrimp dumplings this morning," Grandpa Lin added.

"Grandpa and Grandma, you’re the best," Su Yijia said with a smile, hugging their arms and acting charmingly.

The dumplings made by her grandparents were far superior to those made by machines. The pork dumplings were juicy, almost like soup-filled buns, and the shrimp filling had a slightly larger, bouncy texture. Even Su Yijia, who usually had a small appetite, managed to eat twelve. Qin Kaize ate thirty, and Grandpa Lin and Grandma Lin couldn’t stop smiling.

After breakfast, Qin Kaize changed his clothes and set out to find Xue Qianhao. Su Yijia quickly followed him.

Qin Kaize didn’t persuade her otherwise, holding her hand as they left.

"Is Xue Qianhao at the team’s residence? His wife has been beaten, so he should be at the hospital, right?" Su Yijia asked as they headed towards the family quarters.

"Let’s check it out," Qin Kaize’s tone softened.

They stormed towards the family quarters early in the morning, causing quite a stir. Many onlookers, intrigued by the commotion, abandoned their breakfast to follow them.

Qin Kaize stopped in front of a door and kicked it with force.

"Xue Qianhao, if you can’t control your wife, I’ll handle it for you." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

His voice was low but carried a menacing tone, and the surrounding air seemed to grow colder with his aura. The bystanders felt an icy chill.

"Really? Wang Futong must be crazy to provoke Commander Qin’s couple!"

"Why wouldn’t she? When she went to the island yesterday, she deliberately sat behind Commander Qin’s couple, trying to flirt with Commander Qin right in front of his wife. It’s a good thing Commander Qin’s wife has a good temper. If it were me, I’d have torn her apart on the spot."

"Indeed, she deserved it! People like her, if it were a few years ago, would have been publicly shamed and beaten. It’s only because the times are better now that she dares to be so shameless. But Commander Qin’s wife is too soft-hearted; Wang Futong must be taking advantage of that."
