Chapter 316: He Couldn’t Do Anything About His Little Wife

After handling matters on his end, Qin Kaize returned to the small building and strung the plastic containers along a long bamboo pole. When he carried them onto the boat, many people on board were startled.

"Commander Qin, why did you buy so many large plastic containers? These things aren’t cheap," someone asked curiously.

Qin Kaize placed the containers down and then calmly looked at the inquisitive person. "My wife likes to brew wine. After it’s made, it’s stored in these containers. Ceramic jars are too fragile."

She likes to brew wine, so he bought so many plastic containers? Neither he nor Leader Xia are heavy drinkers, so what are they going to do with all that wine? This Commander Qin really spoils his wife, they thought to themselves.

Some of the women were especially envious. However, knowing the fierce reputation of the couple, no one dared to harbor any jealousy.

When Qin Kaize returned home and pushed open the door, he saw Su Yijia sprawled out on the couch.

"You’re back!" Su Yijia’s eyes opened as soon as she heard the door, and seeing the tall figure backlit in the doorway, she immediately sprang up from the couch and threw herself into his arms.

Just a moment ago, she had been busy and hadn’t thought much about their separation. But now, burying herself in his familiar chest and breathing in his comforting scent, Su Yijia felt as if she had landed on a soft cushion that brought her peace. She wanted nothing more than to stay there and never part again.

"Did you do something exhausting at home this morning while I was gone?" Qin Kaize gently lifted her chin, making her look at him.

Feeling guilty, Su Yijia tried to avert her gaze.

"Trying to dodge the question?" Qin Kaize’s stern face turned slightly in the direction of her gaze.

Seeing his serious expression, Su Yijia pouted and grumbled, "Do I look like I’ve been doing hard labor? I’m full of energy!"

"You had bright, twinkling eyes like the stars before I left, but now they’re dim and tired. You must have done something strenuous," Qin Kaize said, a mix of concern and frustration evident in his voice. This little girl really couldn’t be left alone without getting herself into trouble.

"We agreed that I’d handle everything," he reminded her.

"I only look like this because I missed you," Su Yijia whined, hugging his waist tighter and sweetly coaxing him like a little kitten wanting attention. How could anyone stay mad at her?

"I’ll let it slide this time," Qin Kaize said, utterly helpless against her. He bent down and gently bumped his forehead against hers.

Su Yijia, her lips curled into a sly smile, hugged his arm and said, "Okay, got it! Let’s go eat. Grandpa Lin and Grandma Lin said there’s only one more dish and a soup left."

Before Grandpa Lin and Grandma Lin came out of the kitchen, Su Yijia quickly stashed the things on the floor into her space.

After dinner, they returned to their room and immediately entered the space. Qin Kaize’s brows furrowed when he saw the half-grown soybeans and the five-meter-deep pit dug on one side.

Su Yijia hurriedly clung to his arm, swaying cutely. "You’ve already scolded me for this earlier, so let’s not revisit it. Holding grudges is bad for relationships."

Qin Kaize gazed down at her, his expression softening as he met her blinking, innocent eyes. He couldn’t bring himself to stay mad.

"Next time, leave tasks like this to me," he emphasized each word.

Su Yijia thought that for people like them, who had taken the Great Strength Pills, this kind of work was really nothing. But seeing the man’s pent-up frustration, she didn’t dare argue with him.

"Okay, I’ll listen to you!" she agreed obediently, nodding vigorously.

Even though Qin Kaize felt like he was being played, there was nothing he could do. He pinched her soft cheeks, shaking them gently.

"Alright, you got up early and worked all morning, so go take a nap," Qin Kaize said, laying the thin blanket he had brought on the recliner.

"Aren’t you going to nap?" Su Yijia asked, looking at him expectantly. It was the perfect weather for snuggling.

Their folding bed hadn’t arrived yet, but the recliner was big enough for them to fit snugly together.

"I’m going to finish digging the pit so you won’t be tempted to do it when I’m not around," Qin Kaize said, wanting to get everything done quickly. His little wife was disobedient, and he couldn’t scold or control her, so he could only take responsibility himself.

"But I want you to hold me while I sleep," Su Yijia said, giving him a pitiful look.

The exasperation on Qin Kaize’s face gradually gave way to tenderness. His deep-set eyes softened as he looked at the girl in front of him, like stars twinkling with warmth. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Alright, let’s sleep together." He lay down on the recliner, scooted to one side to make space, and then reached out to Su Yijia.

But instead of lying beside him, Su Yijia shook her head and said, "You lie down, I’ll sleep on top of you."

If she squeezed into the narrow space beside him, there would be no room to rest. Anyway, she was used to sleeping half on top of him when they were in bed.

Qin Kaize complied, adjusting his position. Only then did Su Yijia contentedly lie on top of him. He wrapped his arms around her, his chin resting gently on the crown of her head, feeling as though he was holding his entire world.

Cradling her with all the love in his heart, Qin Kaize closed his eyes and let his mind drift, not falling asleep until her breathing had steadied and deepened.

They slept for over two hours. When they woke up, Qin Kaize harvested the soybeans and fruits, planted new ones, and went back to digging the foundation on the other side of the house.

Su Yijia, sitting cross-legged on the recliner, began reviewing her middle school textbooks. Not only did she study, but she also created exam questions covering all the key points from middle school.

One set wasn’t enough, so she made three, each harder than the last.

After dinner, they returned to the space once more, and Su Yijia immediately made Qin Kaize review the middle school textbooks.

"Only four months until the college entrance exam. You need to study hard. National Defense University isn’t easy to get into. It’s going to be a tight competition."

Although Qin Kaize had graduated from high school with top marks in his grade, eight years had passed since he last engaged with academic subjects, so he had to start reviewing from middle school.

Luckily, not only was he naturally smart, but now he also had a photographic memory. In one evening, he reviewed all the middle school math from grades seven to nine.

While he was reviewing, Su Yijia took the opportunity to skim through the high school textbooks. She also prepared five sets of practice exams for Qin Kaize.

Looking at the questions she had created, she propped her head on her hand and sighed.

"What’s wrong?" Qin Kaize asked, concerned, as he looked at the girl beside him.
