Ruling the Historical Romance Novel as the Female Supporting Character-Chapter 349: What Does It Matter if One’s Eyes Close?
After being sentenced to death, all their hopes were pinned on Qin Mingchen. They had spent a lot of time thinking, realizing that their son hadn’t been involved in the many things they had done. At most, he had a bad attitude toward Qin Kaize, that scoundrel.
So, when Qin Mingchen visited them, they repeatedly warned him not to trouble Qin Kaize or Su Yijia under any circumstances. They knew that even though they hated Qin Kaize, there was a chance he might survive a confrontation with him. But facing Su Yijia, who was a lunatic, would surely end in death. She had a way of making those who crossed her meet a well-deserved end.
"It’s you! You’re the one who killed my son! I always wondered why you forced them to marry. It turns out you had it all planned," Wei Shufen, realizing everything, had a grim, dark expression, with her cheeks twitching uncontrollably.
Su Yijia, however, shrugged innocently. "They were under your nose. You let them share the same bed. If they didn’t marry, were you and your son planning to be perverts together? You should thank me for not letting you die earlier and giving you a chance to live. Who would have thought your son would be so foolish, unable to manage even a woman? With neither he nor Su Xinyue working, and just staring at each other all day, it was bound to cause trouble. Yet he let Su Xinyue out to fool around with two men, which ultimately led to his death."
"It’s your fault! You’re the one who plotted against me!" Su Xinyue, in a fit of anger, exposed her injuries without covering her face. Her ears, which once had been there, were now just blood-soaked bandages. Nothing remained underneath.
Seeing Su Yijia look back at her wound, Su Xinyue tore off the bandage, revealing the gory, exposed flesh. "Do you like it? This is your doing! You care so much about your own skin, but one day you’ll end up like me, a disabled person with no ears." She pressed the wounded side of her face against the bars, letting fresh blood flow, her expression triumphant and distorted.
Su Yijia raised an eyebrow, looking at her like she was a fool. "Do you think this will scare me?"
Su Xinyue’s smugness faded, her murky eyes showing embarrassment and rage. "Are you really this stupid? No wonder you haven’t done what you should have, but you’ve done everything you shouldn’t."
Su Yijia couldn’t help but sigh. Despite her lack of intelligence, Su Xinyue managed to flounder desperately. Yet, she didn’t realize she was never going to be spared. She even handed over incriminating evidence on a silver platter.
"Do you really think you’re so clever? You’ve been different since you woke up the day after the wedding with Qin Mingchen. You don’t even try to hide it anymore! You’re not Su Yijia, are you? Who are you really? Why did you take her body?" Su Xinyue’s tone was grim as she questioned, word by word.
"I am Su Yijia!" Su Yijia spread her hands innocently. This wasn’t a lie; she went by that name. Otherwise, how could she have been chosen by the system and brought into this world?
"Is it still fun to lie to me? We’re about to die, and can’t you at least let us know who we’re dying at the hands of?" Su Xinyue’s eyes were filled with bitterness and indignation as she stared at Su Yijia.
"Believe it or not, I am Su Yijia! Always have been!" Su Yijia stood upright, speaking with serious conviction. Yet, her lips slowly curled into a mocking smile, deep and cold as a ghost’s.
"Liar! You’re a fraud!" Su Xinyue had completely lost her sanity. She climbed the fence, trying desperately to reach Su Yijia, but the distance made it impossible for her to touch her.
All she could do was watch as Su Yijia walked away with a swagger. "Come back! Explain yourself! Who are you really? You evil spirit who’s taken over someone else’s body!"
Su Xinyue’s desperate screams were not just for Su Yijia but also for the two unidentified figures around the corner. Whoever believed that Su Yijia was no longer the original Su Yijia would be enough.
But Qin Kaize knew the truth. As for Ke Zeming, he was a staunch materialist and would never believe in such supernatural nonsense. He didn’t even consider the possibility of outsiders being involved.
After all, his good buddy’s wife had not only avenged his biological mother but also managed to heal a body that was declared beyond saving. And she had even brought back research materials from Xiang City.
"Is there anything else I can help with before you leave tomorrow?" Ke Zeming asked as he saw them off, still somewhat concerned.
"Nothing for now. I’ll call you if needed," Qin Kaize said with a smile, giving him a friendly pat on the chest.
However, once Ke Zeming’s car disappeared from view, Qin Kaize didn’t take Su Yijia home. Instead, they took a bus to a somewhat secluded courtyard.
While it wasn’t the preferred style of housing, having a separate house was quite convenient. Qin Kaize had Su Yijia bring out some rice, fresh fruits, and a small plastic bucket of soybean oil that she had bought earlier.
They arrived at a somewhat dilapidated courtyard in the far corner. He knocked lightly twice, then three times. The door was eventually opened by an elderly man with graying hair and a joyful smile.
Upon seeing Su Yijia and Qin Kaize holding hands, the old man momentarily paused but then smiled even more warmly. "Ze, is this your wife? How wonderful! She’s a lovely young lady," the old man said, nodding repeatedly in admiration.
Qin Kaize introduced, "Jiajia, this is Grandpa Chen."
"Hello, Grandpa Chen," Su Yijia greeted with a sweet smile.
Grandpa Chen welcomed them into the courtyard and quickly closed the door. He looked disapprovingly at the bags they were carrying. "Ze, I’ve told you not to be so polite. The things you sent last time are still not finished. And now you’re bringing even more."
"This is our first visit as a couple; we can’t skip the proper etiquette," Qin Kaize said, placing the items on the tea table and tidying up the surface.
Grandpa Chen hurriedly came forward to stop him. "Enough, enough! I’ll take care of these things. Don’t make me feel embarrassed."
