Chapter 406: Jiajia Truly Brings Prosperity to the Xia Family

"He’s not my father."

The mention of that man made Qin Kaize’s expression immediately darken.

However, Grandpa Xia thought it was just an outburst of anger and frowned, scolding, "He may have treated you poorly, but if he hadn’t married your mother back then, how would you exist?"

Qin Kaize raised his head, his gaze heavy and dark.

Grandpa Xia immediately realized that he might have misunderstood something. "What happened?" he asked seriously.

The two old folks had been stuck at the farm for so long that if something bad happened outside, both Weiguo and Ze would try to keep it from them. After all, besides worrying themselves to death, they could do nothing to help.

Qin Kaize took a moment to organize his thoughts. He then explained that he was actually the son of Uncle Xia and his mother, and that Qin Zongyao had been responsible for his mother’s death years ago. If Jiajia hadn’t guessed and uncovered the truth a few months ago, they might have never known.

He also told them about the situation in Su Yijia’s family. One revelation followed another, leaving Grandpa Xia and Grandma Zhou utterly stunned and furious.

Especially Grandma Zhou—her emotions got the better of her, and she nearly fainted, her eyes rolling back. Su Yijia quickly took out silver needles and administered a few acupuncture points, which finally brought her around.

"Those scoundrels! How can they be so outrageous? Are they really this lawless out there?" Grandpa Xia grumbled in a low voice, suppressing his anger.

His poor daughter—so intelligent, yet in the end, she had died such an unclear and unjust death. And then there was Jiajia’s family—such a wonderful family, yet deceived by some entitled young noble from Jingdu City.

"Those who deserve to pay the price will soon get what’s coming to them. There are only two left to deal with. Once you two get out of the farm, everything will be taken care of," Su Yijia reassured them as she carefully checked Grandma Zhou’s pulse again.

"The most important thing now is that you two stay healthy. You’ll have plenty of time in the future to spend with your grandchildren, and you’ll even see them grow up," she comforted.

"We’re already old. As long as we can see your children born, that would be enough," Grandpa Xia replied with a bitter smile. The two elderly people were well aware of their physical condition; they figured they had only a few more years left.

"Grandpa, Grandma, don’t talk like that. Jiajia’s medical skills are remarkable. She says you’ll live to see our children grow up, and you definitely will," Qin Kaize assured them, feeling a sudden pang of emotion at the sorrow in Grandpa Xia’s voice.

"Is Jiajia really that skilled?" Grandma Zhou was dumbfounded. Until now, they had only known that Ze had married a very beautiful wife—a city girl with a high school diploma. Her grandparents had just come back from being reformed at the farm, and the two kids got along very well. To Grandpa Xia and Grandma Zhou, that was all that mattered.

But little did they know that Jiajia’s beauty far exceeded their expectations, and she was exceptionally talented too. Not only did she pass the recently restored National College Entrance Examination, but she also got accepted into Qing University. Moreover, they had just learned that she was in the Chemistry Department. And now, they found out that Jiajia was also an accomplished doctor, able to perform acupuncture and diagnose pulses like a seasoned physician.

"Of course she’s skilled. When I got injured during a mission, even the best doctors in the country said there was no way to recover. But Jiajia treated me for just over two months, and not only did she heal me completely, but she also restored my health to a better state than before," Qin Kaize proudly boasted about his wife.

Although he was telling the truth, Su Yijia blushed deeply under the admiring gazes of Grandpa Xia and Grandma Zhou.

After taking in the whole scene, the elderly couple glanced back at Qin Kaize and shook their heads.

"You really struck gold, kid. To have married such a wonderful wife like Jiajia, you better treat her well, do you hear me?" Grandma Zhou warned with a hint of disdain.

Grandpa Xia followed up with a stern warning of his own: "If you ever mistreat Jiajia, don’t blame us two old folks for disowning you. And once we’re out of here, we’ll break your legs."

Hearing their words, Qin Kaize couldn’t help but laugh. "Don’t worry, no matter what happens, I will never mistreat Jiajia." He raised his hand solemnly, making a promise. Jiajia meant more to him than his own life. No matter what trouble came their way, he would never let anything happen to her.

Grandpa Xia and Grandma Zhou knew their grandson was a man of his word. Now that he had married Jiajia and given his assurance, they knew he would never do anything to hurt her.

But Jiajia really was a blessing to the Xia family. Ever since she married Ze, not only had Ze’s mysterious injury been cured, but the truth about Qin Zongyao and Wei Shufen had come to light, and justice was finally served.

To uncover the truth about what had happened 24 years ago, to find the evidence and seek justice openly, was no easy task. It was almost as difficult as reaching the heavens. Yet Jiajia had managed to pull it off.

And then, thanks to her conflict with Su Xinyue, they had even managed to reclaim the family estate.

Not to mention, Jiajia had helped Ze get accepted into university. Both of them were among the first batch of college students after the restoration of the National College Entrance Examination, and Ze, being from the military, now had an incredibly bright future ahead.

Furthermore, since the two of them got married, those of them who had been sent to the farm were no longer considered criminals, and they could finally return to their former lives. Though Grandpa Xia and Grandma Zhou would have to stay behind for a while longer, the current situation clearly indicated that this wouldn’t last much longer.

On top of that, Jiajia was so outstanding yet had no objections to the idea of having children early. Ze didn’t just marry a good woman—he married an angel! How could they not cherish her?

"Grandpa, let me check your pulse too," Su Yijia offered, turning her attention to Grandpa Xia.

Grandpa Xia, however, asked anxiously, "How is your grandmother’s condition?"

Since they had just learned that Ze wasn’t related to the Qin family but was instead Weiguo and Feixian’s child, they had started calling themselves Grandma and Grandpa instead of Grandma Zhou and Grandpa Xia.

Weiguo’s surname was Xia, and he had been a child groom that they found for Feixian. The two had been close since childhood, and if it weren’t for the terrible incident that followed, they would never have separated.

Now that Ze was Weiguo’s son, it was only natural that they should be referred to as Grandpa and Grandma.
