Chapter 44: The Gradually Distorted Mentality of Qin Mingcheng

Dinner was once again prepared by Su Yijia, consisting of five dishes and a soup. The meal was not only abundant but also visually appealing and delicious. Xia Weiguo set up a folding table in the yard, and even Qin Kaize was brought out in his wheelchair. The four of them, along with the two sergeants, sat together in the yard.

The Qin family members shamelessly tried to join them, walking over with their bowls in hand, but Su Yijia firmly refused to let them eat the food she had worked so hard to prepare.

Qin Mingcheng, however, couldn’t stand seeing them being bullied by Su Yijia any longer. His face contorted with anger as he couldn’t hold back any longer. "You’re going too far. This is still the Qin family," he muttered through gritted teeth.

Su Yijia looked up, her expression shocked. "You’re back to normal? Your mentality is impressive. I thought that after you couldn’t perform anymore, you wouldn’t care about anything else."

"Couldn’t perform? What are you talking about?" Gao Huabin asked, puzzled.

"Maybe he’s not a man anymore," Su Yijia said casually, her words too carefree. However, when the eyes of everyone in the yard turned to her, she realized she had spoken too freely. This era had laws against indecency, and a woman couldn’t discuss such matters in front of men.

Fortunately, Xia Weiguo and the others sided with Su Yijia, so they didn’t make an issue out of it. Perhaps it was because they were taken aback by Qin Mingcheng’s inability that they all focused their attention on his legs instead.

Their gazes held various emotions, including sympathy and Schadenfreude. Qin Mingcheng instinctively tightened his legs and turned to avoid their stares.

"I’m fine! The doctor said I’ll recover with proper rest," he raised his voice to refute their suspicions. However, this only made them more convinced of his condition. His outburst seemed like he was embarrassed by his condition.

"If that makes you happy, then it’s fine. It’s not my concern," Su Yijia shrugged nonchalantly. However, her actions disrupted the meal, and Qin’s parents no longer had the appetite to dine with them. They tugged at Qin Mingcheng, wanting him to leave with them.

However, Qin Mingcheng angrily pushed them away and approached Su Yijia. His eyes burned with rage, as if he was about to attack her at any moment.

Gao Huabin immediately stepped in front of Su Yijia, his face dark and full of warning. "What do you want to do? Are you trying to pick a fight with my sister-in-law?"

Qin Mingcheng, although not short, had the appearance of a bookish scholar. Compared to the burly Gao Huabin, he seemed like a helpless chick. This only further eroded his already trampled dignity, leaving nothing but remnants.

"Do you all really think she’s some kind of good person? You’re protecting her so desperately, but have you even considered whether she needs it?" Qin Mingcheng retorted, his tone laced with hostility.

The ferocity that had somewhat subsided returned to his face. His gaze remained fixed on Su Yijia, dark and sinister, like a cold-blooded creature lurking in the shadows.

"Su Yijia, have you no shame? We had agreed to set up the celebration and bring you to the Qin family’s home after the wine was prepared, so as to avoid gossip. Yet, you couldn’t wait a single day and hurriedly came over. My elder brother is in his current condition, and you rushed here as if you couldn’t wait. Are you here just to take care of my brother’s needs, like helping him use the toilet? It seems like you have no shame, eagerly approaching men. We have so many men in the Qin family now, and you couldn’t sit still in the Su family. Look at you, a female comrade, sitting among a group of men. Do you know my brother can’t say anything and can’t do anything to you? So you openly cheat on my brother?"
