Saintess? Not Anymore! I'd Rather be a Destroyer-Chapter 316 - 253: New church
Hearing her words the group of former slaves smiled happily, but some healers and commoners frowned still.
A man shook his head, "Saintess, I can’t accept this. Them being our equals?! These people are brutes, savages; we are the destined race chosen by the gods."
"Shut the fuck up!!" Aurianna shouted, as she glared at the man. "You think you’re better than them, because what, you’re human?"
"It seems even people of the church despise other races, it’s better to change that narcissistic view of things, whereas you think you’re better than any race. This was one of the reasons that led to the war. These people are just like humans. They have families, friends, and aspirations. They led normal lives up until people, those who look down on them like you, kidnapped and killed them. Why do you think the elves kill all humans on sight? The beast people won’t even let a human child find their village and walk out of there alive because they may get discovered by others."
The room was silent. Many of the church members who’d been bold with their open discrimination previously held their heads down in shame.
"You better learn how to like them because you would all be working together from now on!" Aurianna said coldly.
"A reminder, no matter what you do you’ll be unable to kill your fellow member even if you try to do it indirectly," Aurianna said with a smile.
"You two come here," She pointed at a human with one hand and an elf with the other. The human obliged, walking until he was directly in front of her. The elf, while nervous looking and hesitant, obeyed as well.
Once both were in front of her she spoke, "Try stabbing the elf," she commanded before pulling a knife out. She then handed it to the man, and upon taking it in his hand it was firm. But as he pointed it toward the elf, preparing to stab him they started to shake. It was clear he’d never killed or hurt anyone before, that he was an innocent man. However, he eventually carried out the order, reaching the knife towards the elf who closed his eyes waiting for the worst to happen...
But, there was no pain.
His hand was stationary midway and no matter how hard he tried pushing the knife, it was still 5 inches away from the elf. He tried to slash but that didn’t work either.
Aurianna scanned the room as many gazes fell on her filled with confusion.
She shouted, "You see? No matter what you do you can’t injure your fellow members directly or indirectly."
"And if I catch any attempt I’ll make sure you suffer hell for as long as you live," she added, giving a threatening look that sent cold shivers down the spines of everyone in the hall.
No one voiced more complaints. Everyone continued eating and a couple minutes passed.
"Hey, I’ve returned."
Aurianna turned to the source of the voice to see Avriel and Deprixon. A woman was strapped over his shoulder, having a sack over her head. And Avriel had another woman.
"Aurianna I don’t know why he followed me but he was quite useful," Avriel stated.
Aurianna sighed, ’When I said kidnap I didn’t mean literally... This makes me feel like some kind of villain, but now that I think about it...’
The cries of the woman snapped Aurianna out of her thoughts.
"Where am I? Why was I kidnapped? You can’t use me to blackmail Princess Aurianna, she doesn’t care about me anymore!" The woman, also known as Yui, was having a fit. She was squirming and Deprixon, while not losing his composure, was clearly growing tired of her antics.
In one smooth movement he released her, letting Yui thrash her way off his shoulder, falling on her butt. The sack slipped off her head and after she was done wincing in pain from the fall, she stared around up. And beside her was Catherine calmly sitting down as Avriel removed the sack from her head.
Shock was written all over Yui’s face as she saw Aurianna before her. Tears started to flow from her eyes, "Princess Aurianna! Does this mean..."
Aurianna rolled her eyes before walking closer to her, "Annoying brat. Did you really think you were taken for no good reason? I asked for you to be brought to me."
"Princess!!" Yui cried even louder before getting up to hug Aurianna. She let her hold her for a moment, as she continued to cry.
’Alright this is getting tiresome.’ Aurianna thought, grabbing Yui’s shoulders to pull her off.
Yui, still sniffling, tried speaking to her, although now her voice was labored, "I thought when you left with the church you forgot about me. That you didn’t need me anymore."
"I actually wish I did," Aurianna grumbled.
Due to the distance Yui was to Aurianna while weeping, there was now snot on her gown. She looked at the stain in disgust, wanting to wipe it off but also not wanting to get any other place dirty.
She squinted her eyebrows, attempting to focus and use 100% of her brain power to find a solution to her problem. And in a matter of seconds, she did.
Deprixon was still standing near her, just watching the three of them. In hindsight it was kind of awkward, he may have been awaiting new orders or simply taken aback by the three’s interaction but still. He had an expression of confusion written over his face. Just that Catherine didn’t talk much, only simply watching Aurianna and Yui. She seemed like a woman without much words.
"Deprixon, would you mind wiping this clean for me?"
Without question, he walked over, pulling out a handkerchief from his robe pocket and wiping the spot. As he did so Yui, who was back to normal, started to tear up again.
"Princess you’re too cruel, after all these years of our bond!" Yui sniffled.
"What bond? You messed up every chore I gave you!"
Aurianna had a sudden influx of memories. Thinking about all the times Yui had spilled tea on her clothes, how her hair, which always looked beautiful, was styled horribly when Yui did it, and how she was so chatty even when Aurianna wasn’t in the mood to talk.
But one thing Aurianna liked about her was that she never showed fear when she witnessed Aurianna kill some assassins, cleaning the mess up on the spot. She was extremely devoted to her. In short, having an attendant who didn’t fear her was pleasant. Even so, that didn’t change her behavior towards Aurianna.
"By the way Princess, where are we?" Catherine finally asked, looking around in confusion. She hadn’t noticed initially, being too caught up in being kidnapped and suddenly seeing Aurianna, but the surroundings weren’t familiar to her. Everything in her sight was shiny or clean looking.
"In the church," Aurianna responded.
"I don’t remember the church looking like this," Catherine tilted her head, confused.
"This is gonna take too long to explain," Aurianna sighed as she materialized her signature gun, pointing it at Catherine.
Panic quickly found its way onto Catherine’s face. She raised her hands in a pleading manner, "Princess, I was wrong. Please don’t kill me, Catherine won’t ask any more questions."
Aurianna didn’t mind Catherine’s pleas, simply pulling the trigger to shoot out the white light, entering her eyes. This caused her to receive the vision of Aurianna’s entire speech and also gave her the mark.
Shockingly, unlike the others who screamed in pain when receiving the mark, Catherine didn’t scream and just wiped the blood off her eyes.
"Princess, that was some long speech and I barely heard a word," Catherine complained, rubbing her head in slight pain.
Aurianna almost fell from shock at her stupidity but she quickly maintained her balance before giving a tired sigh, walking away.
"Princess are you leaving me?" Yui asked.
"Yes I am, go and eat some food," Aurianna said, pointing towards the tables filled with people picking up food, the amount that was there previously didn’t seem to dwindle much. There was still plenty.
Catherine, though worried she upset Aurianna, obeyed, walking over and eating with the others and Yui followed behind. Aurianna simply continued walking away from the area, heading over towards Deille who was more off to the side.
"Aurianna, what’s your motive for all of this? Why ask such a goddess to help us? Couldn’t you just save yourself?" Deille asked as he stared at Aurianna who immediately smirked.
"It would be a waste for such good people to go through despair again. Also I want to reform you all to be the alter ego of your current selves. To change their mindset that the world is love and rainbows. I believe that to survive this time we must embrace this chaotic world and strive to be at the top," Aurianna explained
