Saintess? Not Anymore! I'd Rather be a Destroyer-Chapter 346 - 283: Iris
The moment they arrived at Aurianna’s church, gasps of awe filled the air. The newcomers marveled at the grand architecture, the towering stained-glass windows, and the beautiful statues.
Jugi and the other workers wasted no time organizing the newcomers. Fresh robes were handed out, group tours were conducted, and by the end of the day, each new member had been assigned a role and a room. No one was given the luxury of idle time—everyone had responsibilities to uphold.
Meanwhile, Aurianna found herself trapped in her office, chained to a mountain of paperwork. Jade lounged beside her, flipping through documents at a leisurely pace while she was forced to review and sign them all.
Her eye twitched as she scrawled another signature. ’My friends, wait a little longer for me... These bastards want me to do all the heavy work!’ she lamented internally, on the verge of tears.
---
Two days later, Aurianna finally had a moment to breathe. She sat beneath a large tree in the church’s garden-slash-farm area, basking in the gentle warmth of the sun. The place was nearly deserted, as today was a training day for all church members.
Taking a deep breath, she bit into a ripe red fruit, savoring its sweet, juicy flavor.
Finally... peace.
But before she could fully enjoy the moment, the System let out a sudden, panicked gasp.
Aurianna flinched, nearly choking on her fruit. "Pwah! What the hell?!" she sputtered, wiping her mouth.
[Emergency!] the System blared, its voice filled with urgency.
Aurianna groaned, already feeling her short-lived peace slipping away. "Oh, come on..."
The System’s voice glitched, distorting between a deep masculine tone and a soft, feminine voice.
[ Iris. ]
Aurianna frowned, sensing something was wrong. "What’s wrong, System? Why did you panic like that?"
[ That child... She’s insane—completely unhinged! How is this even possible?! ]
Aurianna’s eyes narrowed. *What the hell is the System rambling about?*
Then, the voice glitched again, but this time, it seemed deliberate—loud enough for every Gemaris to hear.
[ Iris—the multiverse—she’s going on a rampage to kill every version of herself in existence. I never even knew this was possible... Yet somehow, she’s doing it. ]
A chill ran down Aurianna’s spine. "What?!"
Before she could even process the gravity of those words, the System projected a hazy image in front of her. Through the flickering screen, she could make out Iris, standing somewhere. Six figures stood beside her, their faces blurred.
[ Iris, stop this! This is pure madness! ] the System pleaded, its voice growing more fragmented.
The eerie silence that followed was shattered by a soft giggle—one that quickly turned into full-blown laughter.
Then, Iris spoke. Her voice was calm, yet her words were cold.
"Mother is out there, hiding... But Iris will find her, before she can come and kill Iris." A wicked grin curled her lips as her piercing gaze bore into the System’s projection. "Also, Iris hates the concept of a multiverse. It’s pointless. Meaningless. And so, Iris shall devour every single Iris in existence."
"There mustn’t be so many," Iris continued, her tone disturbingly serene. "And while I’m at it, I’ll devour the Regals in those verses too. The only only verse that deserves to exist i ours. The others Iris will destroy them all. There can only be one Iris and that would be me Iris Subaru."
She tilted her head slightly, her gaze flickering toward the System’s projection, as though fully aware she was being watched. The moment their eyes met, Aurianna felt something unnatural—an overwhelming presence, so dark and consuming that it made her entire body tremble involuntarily.
’This isn’t the Iris I met before...’
[ Creation will collapse. The Divine Deity will not stand for this! ] the System warned, its voice laced with something Aurianna had never heard before—fear.
Iris merely scoffed. "So what? Regals will never stop appearing as long as those useless verses exist. Why did the Divine Deity even create all that garbage? It’s so damn annoying."
She waved a hand dismissively, as though swatting away a fly.
Then, she turned to face the System’s projection fully. "System," she cooed sweetly, "are you alright?"
There was a brief pause before the System replied, its voice devoid of all emotion.
[ I’m fine. ]
Iris chuckled darkly, folding her arms. "Don’t worry, System. Our verse, and its dimensions, will be left alone. But the others? Well..." Her grin widened.
"This is just the beginning."
[ So, you’re willing to kill the other Gemaris across the multiverse? ] the System asked, its voice heavy with disbelief.
Iris tilted her head, her eerie grin widening. "Yes, all of them. Iris needs more power. Melina really did a good job explaining all of this to Iris. At first, Iris thought it was just fiction—something straight out of movies." She giggled. "Or maybe those alien people were just messing with me. But it all turns out to be true."
She turned slightly, her cold gaze softening just a fraction. "Good girl, Melina."
"I would never lie to you, Master," Melina responded with a smile.
[ So your entire purpose in meeting the other Gemaris... was to track down their counterparts in alternate realities? ] the System concluded grimly.
Iris clapped her hands together, eyes twinkling with twisted delight. "Yes! You finally figured it out, System!" She broke into an eerie, echoing laugh. "Hehehehehehe."
"I didn’t meet them just to greet them, silly. I heard that if an Iris collects every single Gem, she can become a Supreme Deity. And that’s exactly what I’ll do.I’ll make our verse the one true verse! I’ll merge all the dimensions into one massive paradise! Doesn’t that sound wonderful?" Her voice was drenched in a twisted kind of joy. "A paradise for me, my sisters, and the other Gemaris! A world perfected—without the mess of a multiverse to ruin it!"
Her expression darkened as she stared into the System’s projection. "And wasn’t your plan for me to restore the Gemaris to their former glory?" Her tone turned cold.
[ Yes, that was the plan... ] the System admitted hesitantly. [ But not for you to slaughter the other Gemaris from alternate multiverses! There are countless versions of them. You can’t kill them all. And sooner or later, they’ll realize what you’re doing. They’ll come for your head! ]
Iris rolled her shoulders, completely unfazed. "Let them come."
The System faltered for a moment. [ Is she delusional? Or is this genuine confidence in her power? ]
