Saintess Summons Skeletons-Chapter 729 - GRAND FINALE: Sofia Vs [REDACTED] - Part 2
It… It’s a good thing that this is a toybox…
Oh what’s this thing? Another flyer? That’s a big one!
With a few jumps up, correcting her trajectory by flinging herself around with her aura, Sofia quickly ascended to the new unidentified object’s altitude.
Lots of people in there.
[Airoeing Commercial Airliner]: More commonly called a ‘plane’, flying aircraft meant to transport passengers over long distances. Seemingly not militarized.
Already seeing the lights inside of the plane starting to flicker from her mere presence nearby, Sofia let herself fall back down.
At least I know not to strike those down… There are probably big military ones too, though. The question now… How do I find Jin…
I was thinking of striking the military only but maybe creating chaos by striking population centers could be a plan too… I don’t know much about this world’s humans is the issue. Without speaking the language even capturing one isn’t too useful…
Maybe I have a title that could help? I’m still on demon but that’s pretty pointless when I need to expand my own mana for my aura to work… Cheater maybe? If the system database give me better description that Mr.Scribe can about this world’s technology, this could be big. But the description could also not be much better… Back to Olympian is always an option. Hey, Scribe, any new worthwhile titles? It’s been a while since I checked.
[A new title has been unlocked!]*3
Three?! 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
It’s been a while since I thought to check but still! You should have warned me!
[Stain Upon Reality]: Is death even a possibility anymore? Should all else fail, you can count on this title to get yourself out of a tough situation.
Effect: Kills you.
/Ephemeral/ : This title will be lost upon use, but can be regained by dying one hundred times afterwards.
Huh… Well I get why this one you probably weren’t too excited about… Then we have TWO uniques!
♢ UNIQUE ♢ [Idol]: Everyone has their eyes on you.
Awarded for holding the all-time spectator record of the fourth trial. (Female version)
Effect: 500% bonus to total Charisma.
/Ephemeral/ : This title will be lost if someone breaks your record.
I… Uh… Hmm… Is this a ‘I want to be infertile’ title? I’ll have to see if that has any utility… But for now…
♢ UNIQUE ♢ [Madman]: As a non-ascended, narrowly escape a death-by-Leviathan, twice.
SERIOUSLY?! Once wasn’t enough?! Who? Why? DO you hate life that much? I feel like I HAVE to give you something for your stupidity but PLEASE. STOP. TRYING. TO. HORRIBLY. DIE.
What the fuck.
Effect: Gain the temporary high level divination passive skill [Sense Mortal Danger].
Wait… That’s actually great!
Hmm, is it better than Olympian though? I would be losing a lot of Speed and Agility. That being said, I’m not sure those would be the limiting factors. Hmm… Tough choice.
I’ll hold off for now.
Down below, the explosion still had yet to die down.
Probably wiser not to stay here too long.
Sofia started moving inland, staying hidden in the clouds as much as she could, she used her aura on her armor to make herself fly. It was not nearly as fast or maneuverable as her wings, but with no ambient mana, this was the best she could do.
I’m just going to follow the roads.
What a mess…
Even quite far outside of the city, the roads were silent. Everything that could catch fire was on fire, on the roads, machines of white steel were melting in place after crashing into each other, the people inside all already dead, burned shells.
Sofia had to fly a while until she found the first living people. Even far enough to survive the heat, the shockwave from the explosion had been unforgiving, many lay dead on the floor, their skeleton in pieces. The few lucky survivors were still heavily burned and weakened, desperately either trudging toward the next city, or trying to save those around them.
I am NEVER using this shit anywhere near a place where people live outside of the toybox. Holy fucking shit.
No wonder the angels thought it necessary to warn me early. This is hell.
After flying a few minutes, having passed several dead villages, Sofia found the next city. It seemed wider, and more populated, but there were no dangerous looking things there, as far as she could tell. Sirens were screaming loudly, people on the ground were panicking, running through the streets and rushing into underground passages. The heat that reached here was already no longer a danger at all, but the shockwave had still injured many.
So much blood and broken glass everywhere…
As Sofia was just quietly observing the city from far above, she saw several flashes below.
Huh? More missiles?!
From all over the city, a huge salvo of missiles shot up into the sky.

That’s at least two hundr-
Sofia’s thoughts were interrupted by a violent hit against her helmet. Shocked, she flew back up into the clouds. She morphed her helmet a little to grab the thing embedded inside. It was a rather large metallic thing, but it was hard to describe its original form, as the impact had reduced it to the shape of a crushed coin.
And the missiles are still coming.
I need to know what the hell this was. This could be dangerous.
Sofia cast the graveyard on herself, letting a ghostly Nymph slowly bring her down through the spirit plane to the city level.
Doesn’t look like the missiles can track that. Good to know. Now the question is, how do I track the thing that hit me in the head?
Sofia had the Nymphs pull her all the way down to what looked like a motley empty underground basement.
A place where they store these things. They do have a lot of them. Identify?
Self-driving car… Noted.
Sofia deactivated her armor, grabbed a large exidian hat from her storage to cover her horns and crown, a large cape to hide her wings and other items, and with the rarely used VPPV light customization features, she tried her best to alter her appearance. She hid the light coming off from her hair and nails, turned her hair brown, and made her skin darker.
I still don’t really look like the people from here… But close enough.
As she was busy altering her appearance, the light above Sofia exploded.
Ah crap. I really need to keep my mana in or everything’s gonna break like that. There’s electricity everywhere it looks like.
Alright, now. Considering where I was, and the angle of that thing that hit me… Finding where it came from should not be much of an issue. By the looks of it it’s just like an advanced metallic arrow, regular ballistics should apply since gravity is about the same as Veliadren here. Can’t believe I didn’t even see it coming. I was too distracted by the missiles…
Letting the Nymphs grab her again, Sofia followed her calculations, which led her to the tallest building in the city.
Makes sense for an archer to get a vantage point. They should be on the roof.
Going up the building’s many floors through the spirit plane was quite a strange experience, as even with the vague shapes she could not even begin to understand what she was looking at most of the time if it wasn’t a door or a chair.
Not many people still inside, they evacuated surprisingly fast. Now, can we find a straggler’s soul anywhere near the top… Yes. Targets located, two of them.
The Nymphs lifted Sofia all the way up until she was right behind the duo on the top floor, letting her back into the physical plane there.
They were a man and a woman, in fully black clothes. The man was crouched, staring at a strange green screen showing a lot of circles and lines, while the woman was lying on the ground, looking at the sky through a strange object on a bipod.
How do I do this now…
The man seemed to notice Sofia’s presence, grabbing something at his waist, he abruptly turned around, shouting something incomprehensible and pointing the object at Sofia.
Not the best first impression.
The man had a moment of hesitation looking at Sofia, but the woman next to him didn't, she turned around pulling out a similar small black object, and she used it.
There was a loud bang.
Sofia looked at the projectile she had grabbed mid-air between two fingers.
[Bullet]: Metallic projectile used by more advanced versions of the flintlock.
Oh! It’s not arrow it’s just flintlock tech! I can see the resemblance now. Like a small missile this thing. Knowing it’s coming makes a big difference.
Meanwhile, the two humans where having a mental crisis, but after they had opened fire, Sofia had frozen their skeletons, so looking around while breathing uncontrollably was about the most the two poor people could do.
Sofia grabbed the gun out of the woman’s hand.
Oh yeah looks really like a flintlock, trigger and all.
Awkwardly holding the pistol, Sofia shot at her opened left palm. The bullet crushed itself against her skin before bouncing off.
“Maybe the strength of a level 100 archer? And just anyone can use this? That’s not what hit me before, though. That thing she was looking into maybe?”
Sofia took a step between the two and grabbed the sniper rifle on the bipod behind the woman. The two humans looked absolutely horrified.
“Just the same but bigger.”
Sofia pointed the sniper at the floor and pulled the trigger. With a deafening bang, it pierced a hole straight through the floor. Oh yeah that’s it. That’s what hit me. She pulled the trigger again, but it did nothing. Ah, did I break it already?
Grabbing a page of Bookie from under her cape, Sofia summoned her Engineer.
“Here, take these,” she told him, tossing him the gun and the sniper rifle. She then searched her two prisoners, grabbing and identifying anything she couldn’t understand the use of, giving some interesting ones to the engineer. “You can disassemble everything, try to understand how they all work,” she told him, before storing him and everything he was holding in her ring.
“Alright, now what do I do with you two…”
The man had passed out when Sofia had summoned the engineer skeleton, but the woman was still staring at Sofia like an animal on the butcher’s table, completely unable to move. Only muffled screams of terror could escape her closed mouth, tears running down her face.
“This sucks…” Sofia complained with a sigh, she crouched to be eye level with the woman, and started sculpting a tiny bone figurine of Jin in his military uniform. She showed it to the woman. “Do you know him?” she asked, pointing at the figurine, hoping that she would be understood despite the language barrier. Then she released the woman’s bones.
Instead of trying to answer, the woman shouted something incomprehensible, throwing herself at the passed-out man, trying to wake him up.
Yeah… I can’t even heal him, I don’t think. If mana is dangerous to the humans here, then a healing potion would probably do more harm than good, wouldn’t it?
Oh hey he already woke up. Here guys, have some water.
Sofia had to drink some water first before the two worriedly accepted her bone goblets. It would be an exaggeration to say that they had calmed down, but it was clear to everyone present that they had no chance of escaping, so they could only cooperate. Sofia showed the Jin’s statuette again, and showed them a map of the human peninsula at the same time, hoping they got the message. Then she gave them a piece of paper and a charcoal pen, worried that her usual bone tablet might make one of them pass out again.
With a trembling hand, the man grabbed the pen and paper and started to draw against the floor.
Drawing a map. Looks like he understood.
After drawing a few vague shapes, the man placed a X somewhere, pointed at it, and pointed at the figurine.
Though he looked uneasy doing it, the message was clear.
Okay but… “Where are we now?” Sofia asked, pointing at herself then at the map.
The man hurriedly nodded, and placed another X on the map.
It’s near a coastline it seems? Looks like he perfectly understood the job.
Sofia grabbed the map. The two humans were silent. She could guess what was going through their mind. Now that she had what she wanted, they were useless to her, and enemy soldiers.
Hopefully this doesn’t backfire…
Sofia waved the two soldiers goodbye, and jumped out from the nearest broken window.
Now let’s see where this map leads me to. Will it be Jin? Will it be a trap? Both?
Hearing a strange sound piercing through the air, Sofia looked up.
A missile coming back down? This one seems a bit big compared to–
