Chapter 678: ... getting married was exhausting.

Luo Muchen could feel his lover’s intense stare through the veil. This wasn’t the first time that Qie Xieling looked at him that way but his heartbeat sped up like it was the first time. He couldn’t believe that today their relationship would change and they would become husband and husband till death do them part.

His fingers curled as he tightened his hold on the man in his arms. Just as they reached the bottom of the stairs he heard Qie Xieling whisper, "You look very handsome," causing a blush to bloom across his cheeks.

Because it was too loud he could only lean in closer and whisper into Qie Xieling’s ear. "You look handsome too," he replied, his voice tinged with the warmth of his affection. He bit his lower lip swallowing back the rest of his sentence. He wanted to say, "And I can’t wait to tear off your clothes," but he was forced to bite his tongue.

Qie Xieling had no idea that his sweetheart had already made designs for him tonight. He tightened his arms around Luo Muchen’s neck as he curled deeper into his embrace in fear of hitting his head against the side of the main door.

Luo Muchen carefully turned sideways making sure not to hit Qie Xieling’s head against it. Under the rain of red confetti and rice, he carried him to the car. He was mindful of every movement, ensuring not to bump his lover’s head on the roof of the car as he settled him inside. Once Qie Xieling was comfortably seated, Luo Muchen carefully adjusted his clothes, smoothing out any creases with gentle hands and picking out the confetti and rice off his veil.

Qie Xieling grasped Luo Muchen’s wrist and with a sweet gentle smile he whispered, "It’s fine." He tenderly rubbed Luo Muchen’s skin with his thumb and Luo Muchen subconsciously licked his lip while looking up at him his eyes filled with love. He absentmindedly leaned forward the tip of his nose lightly brushing against the veil. He had an overwhelming desire to kiss him and if it weren’t for the sudden sound of firecrackers he might have. He cleared his throat before saying, "I will see you soon."

Qie Xieling reluctantly let go of his hand and nodded his head. With one last longing look, Luo Muchen closed the car door, sealing away his groom for the journey to his family home.

Nana Qie came to the window and Qie Xieling lowered it. "Remember the steps I taught you, okay?" she said reminding him of what to do when they got to the Luo estate.

"I will remember... Nana, why can’t he just sit with me?" he suddenly asked just as she was about to leave.

Nana Qie chuckled softly before throwing out a sentence, "So impatient." She looked at the driver and said, "Close the window."

"Yes ma’am," said the driver and the tinted window closed.

Qie Xieling, "..."

Soon an envoy of now ten black SUVs adorned with vibrant red bows rolled out from the Qie family estate with grandeur.

Qie Xieling raised his head and saw that the car in front of him now had the eager videographer standing through the sunroof, capturing the procession as they drove through the streets.

He couldn’t help but wonder if that was even legal. It seemed to be a wedding videographer had a high occupational risk of injury. He looked out of the window in a daze. He had no idea that his wedding had turned into a big spectacle with paparazzi camping along the route to take videos and pictures.

Even without the paparazzi the convoy snaking through the city was too eye-catching. It even prompted clueless onlookers to take pictures out of curiosity. They posted the videos online asking whose daughter was getting married today and into which family was she marrying.

Qie Xieling who had been mistaken for a woman was fighting the temptation to take off his veil. He wanted to see the road clearly but he managed to hold himself back.

After forty-five minutes they drove into a neighborhood of sprawling estates, each one more impressive than the last. The street lamps along the Luo family estate’s street were decorated in a sea of red past the barricades blocking paparazzi.

The large black gates were open, their frames adorned with traditional wedding decorations.

Qie Xieling soon understood why there was such a heavy security presence and barricades in place. The estate was filled with a sea of bulletproof and luxury cars with plates that belonged to the most powerful figures. He was so focused on marrying his man that he forgot the family he was marrying into.

The entrance near the fountain was filled with well-dressed attendees exchanging greetings and well-wishes. Scattered around were bodyguards dressed in black suits their eyes looking around vigilantly.

The car came to a gentle stop in front of the main door. Qie Xieling wanted to get out already but the driver’s uncle turned to him and said, "Young master please wait. They will let you know when to get out."

Qie Xieling sighed as he sat back down. "Thanks, Uncle Lan." The older man looked at him through the rearview mirror and smiled. He used to drive him to school when his dads were busy and now he was driving him to his wedding. It was really hard to watch them grow up.

After a suspenseful stillness, the car door was soon opened. As he stepped out of the car a guiding hand reached in, clasping Qie Xieling’s own with gentle assurance. With the deafening sound of firecrackers, he was led towards the entrance. On the laid-out red carpet, there was a lit stove crackling warmly. The older lady holding his hand to guide him explained that its flames were a traditional symbol to ward off any malevolent spirits.

Qie Xieling nodded his head as he stepped over the stove. Today was his day but he felt like a rag doll. Who would have thought getting married was exhausting?

The main hall of the mansion had been transformed into a red-hued wonderland with a family altar set up on a high platform.

The guests were now seated on either side of the aisle, their faces alight with smiles as Qie Xieling made his way up the stairs.
