Saving The Villainous Monster From The Male Lead-Chapter 15 - 14: Cursed System
Chapter 15 - 14: Cursed System
Eleanore continued to feel this strange sharp pain in her forehead. She pressed her fingers against it, to compress the pain down. She could hear the faint voice of her brother still speaking.
"It— Flora— she— good— at first— Caelestis— but—"
Eleanore couldn't hear anything at all after Caelestis' name was mentioned in the sentence, her brother uttered earlier. She could only remember his charming picture that had appeared in front of her when he held her in his arms, as he took her back to her room to rest.
His scarlet eyes that had a brighter tone of red than Eleanore's, effortlessly shined in the darkness. While her glossy golden hair got hidden under his dark reflection. Caelestis' arms felt warm under the thin fabric of her nightwear, sending those weird shockwaves down her veins.
"Are you okay?" He asked in his husky yet attractive voice.
"Elle?!" Hael had found a place beside Eleanore, who was suffering from the memories of that night. "What's wrong? Is your head hurting? Do you have a fever?" He placed his palm on her forehead and the other hand on his forehead to compare it with his and the temperature seemed normal.
"No— no fever?!" He looked with a gaze dripping with worry.
"I'm fine. I just remembered the night that made me fall harder for Caelestis." Eleanore said unconsciously as if she had once fallen for him and was heart broken now that all those feelings had shattered into pieces.
"Elle, do you still love him?" He asked, concerned.
"Maybe." Eleanore had no idea what she was saying, all she knew was that that moment was when the original Eleanore Sinclair fell for the villain Caelestis Lancaster and that her love was not pure but rather a mere obsession.
"Anyways, you were saying that I'll be living at Flora's. Correct?" Eleanore confirmed.
Hael nodded. "Yes, while I'm away. I thought it would be safer for you." he said. "House Demariab has plenty of security there.."
"I understand," she replied softly. "I'll stay with Flora. I'll be fine. Don't worry about me. Just come back without any injury. Okay?"
"Yes" He smiled, promising to return in one piece.

On reaching home, Hael suggested, Eleanore to pack up her luggage for three months of stay at Demeter Mansion. She was a bit surprised by the fact that she had to leave so early. Marina, her maid, helped Eleanore to her room and then tucked her in carefully in her bed.
After that, she pulled out three huge suitcases from the wardrobe room and then placed it on the couch so everything that goes in that bag would be visible to Eleanore.
"Which clothes would you like to add, My lady?" She asked.
"I don't remember my clothes very well. Just add whatever you like." Eleanore said, assuming that it would be common for aristocrats to forget their accessories and dresses. While she was somewhat right, she had no idea how unique the original owner of this body was.
"But my lady, you never forget your dresses." Marina raised her query, suspiciously. "Is something the matter?" She asked, anxious and somewhat worried about her mistress' health
"Umm, I don't know. Turns out my memories aren't contributing much at the moment." It was true.
The original owner of the body's memories felt like messages and her own memories started to feel distant. Her brain was in a mess. To her dismay, she had started forgetting her life outside this fantasy world. All she remembers is the fact that she clear a very important examination and that she got into a traffic accident.
"How long have you been working for me, Marina?" Eleanore asked, struggling with her distorted memories that were overpowering her original ones.
"Three months." She replied, bringing out a few gowns and arranging them neatly in the suitcase.
"Hmm, does that mean you were not my maid, a year ago when the attack happened?" Eleanore asked, curious about her memories from that night.
"No, my lady."
"Then, did I have a maid before you?"
"Yes indeed, my lady."
"What happened to her?" Eleanore straightened her back, waiting for bad news.
"The chamberlain said, she died saving you. However—" Marina's words had grabbed Eleanore's attention successfully. "That maid was my mother's blood sister's only daughter and she is certainly alive."
"Is she?" Eleanore got up and took support of the pillow behind her to be able to look at Marina clearly.
"Yes." Marina also turned to her mistress.
"Have you met her after she left the Dukedom of Sinclair?" Eleanore asked.
"I wanted to but I couldn't, she was sent far away from the capital, is what I heard from my mother." Marina replied, smelling something fishy about this scenario.
"Something is fishy!" Eleanore had a mutual feeling.
"Do you know anything about my parents?" Eleanore raised a question that was termed as taboo in the mansion. Marina had no idea what to say to her miss, who seemed to have forgotten everything.
On the very first day, when she entered the mansion, the head maid had given a few important rules to be followed. One of those was to never speak about the late duke and dutchess.
"They say, they were killed in the mansion, my lady and that you forgot about the event after some accident you had at the funeral." Marina carefully structured her words in the sentence. She broke the taboo. "But my lady it is considered taboo to talk about them."
"I understand. " Eleanore fell into deep thought. She couldn't help but feel that something was off about this situation.
She remembered the incident where she received Caelestis' letter when her brother mentioned it. In the ball, she remembered how she had bullied Stella, when she saw her for the first time. Then the incident in the carriage. Nothing makes sense. It feels like the original owner of the body's memories play in her brain when she comes across people related to fragments of memory or have a conversation about that incident.
