Chapter 607: Catch the Flower Thief

Su Zhenggang said, "Hmm, I understand."

After hanging up the phone, Leng Xuan couldn’t bother to rest. He immediately left the alley, hailed a taxi, and sped towards the abandoned factory Su Zhenggang had mentioned.

Urged by Leng Xuan, the taxi raced through the empty streets at breakneck speed, which was fortunate, given the time of night left few pedestrians around.

Leng Xuan quickly reached the location of the factory.

The factory was situated in a remote area, surrounded by tall weeds, and it was some distance from the main road. Leng Xuan surveyed his surroundings and saw that this place was indeed an excellent hiding spot.

Without going too far, Leng Xuan saw Ning Xin’er approaching with a few others—all of whom Su Zhenggang had left behind to wait for Leng Xuan.

"You’ve finally arrived," Ning Xin’er said as she approached, her tone carrying a sizeable amount of anger. After Su Zhenggang had discussed Huang Jixiang’s situation, they all thought this would be a prime opportunity to distinguish themselves, each jostling to go. However, Su Zhenggang named everyone except her, ordering her to wait at the factory for Leng Xuan and assist him with the Flower Butterfly matter.

Leng Xuan could sense the edge in Ning Xin’er’s voice but didn’t pay it too much mind. This girl had been slightly at odds with him since his arrival in Baiyun City. So, he asked directly, "Where’s Flower Butterfly?"

Ning Xin’er glanced toward the abandoned factory and said, "He’s been inside for two days without coming out. With no food or water these past few days, I doubt he even has the strength to walk."

Leng Xuan smiled and shook his head, "Don’t underestimate that guy; he’s not as weak as you describe. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have had you all use this method against him." He then added, "You just wait here; I can go in alone."

"What?" Ning Xin’er glared and asked, "Are you looking down on us?" She felt the glory she’d been counting on was slipping away, and at least the smaller credit should be hers. By making this statement, wasn’t Leng Xuan depriving her of even that recognition? After so much effort, she didn’t want to end up with nothing.

Leng Xuan of course understood Ning Xin’er’s thoughts and said with a wry smile, "I’m not letting you in for your own good. I’m worried it will be difficult to ensure your safety once inside. Don’t worry, the credit will be yours no matter what. I don’t rely on the government’s dime, and I have no need to compete with you for this."

Seeing that Leng Xuan had seen through her mind, Ning Xin’er’s face flushed with anger, and she said loudly, "What do you mean? Do I look like someone who’s opportunistic? Without recognition, would I not serve the people? You’re insulting me. Hmph! I hate people who judge others from a narrow perspective."

This girl’s temper was so fiery, how was she ever going to find a husband? If someone married her, they would truly be cursed! Leng Xuan shook his head, his mind wandering to this thought. If Ning Xin’er knew, she’d probably leap at him, ready to fight to the death.

Without further arguing with Ning Xin’er, Leng Xuan walked straight towards the factory, reminding them, "Remember what I said, no one enters until I come out. Otherwise, you’ll be responsible for the consequences."

As Leng Xuan’s figure disappeared into the factory doorway, Ning Xin’er gritted her teeth and said, "Who does he think he is, giving us orders like that?"

The officers standing nearby scratched their heads and asked, "Captain Ning, do we go in or not?"
