School Transmigration: I, Chosen as the Saint by Dragons at the Start-Chapter 94 --The Entrance to the Heart of the Ocean
Waves spiraled around Owen, making him appear more akin to the sea race than even the masters of the sea race themselves.
The leader of the Ambition Army’s eyes flared with murderous intent and brimming with the thrill of battle.
He felt a pressure emanating from Owen, a challenge.
For the Ambition Army commander, seasoned by warfare, pressure didn’t instill fear but excitement.
He brandished his long spear, and in the blink of an eye, his killing move was already before Owen.
Owen’s face was stern, his trident swinging in his hand, and the surging waves followed his movements.
A force as overwhelming as a collapsing mountain and as fierce as crashing waves suddenly emerged.
Owen wasn’t skilled in using a trident.
His attacks were pure arcanergy, supplemented by dragons’ combat techniques.
It was the most primal of killing moves, devoid of any fancy tricks, but it posed the greatest threat.
Owen clashed with the commander of the Ambition Army.
A tremendous force surged from Owen’s hands, momentarily startling him. It felt as if his soul had been knocked out of his body.
Just how powerful was the Ambition Army?
In terms of the commander alone, he was at the master-tier.
Coupled with the power transmitted by his soldiers through the military array, the force of his attack could shatter a mountain.
Speaking of strength alone, Owen was only slightly weaker.
However, the most critical issue was his momentary lapse of concentration – a basic mistake he would never usually make.
"Someone’s playing tricks," Owen realized as he snapped out of his daze, the thought flashing across his mind.
But his body, like a kite thrown by the wind, was already plummeting heavily into the well.
With a "thud," the seemingly shallow water concealed an endless abyss beneath.
Owen disappeared into the depths of the well.
Erin was the first to react, crying out, "Master!"
Without a moment’s hesitation, she leaped into the well.
Finn and Morton stood frozen in place, while Berkeley’s head buzzed with confusion. They felt as if darkness had descended upon them.
Phyllis, witnessing the sudden turn of events, blinked her beautiful eyes gently.
Her gaze subtly shifted towards Quincy’s right hand.
The faint glow in his hand vanished, leaving behind only a trace that Phyllis noticed.
"Siren Conch?" Phyllis’s lips moved silently, pondering, "Isn’t that the sea serpent race’s sacred arcanergy artifact? How did it end up in his hands?"
The Siren Conch, also a legendary arcanergy artifact, was key to the sea serpents’ prominence among the myriad sea races of Gosa Waters.
Phyllis hadn’t expected that such a powerful artifact, capable of instantly altering the tide of battle, would appear on Heartstealer Island.
If lost, it would be a tremendous setback for the sea serpent race.
Even Bessie, the saintess of the sea serpent race, wasn’t privileged enough to bring the Siren Conch into Heartstealer Island.
By the time Finn and the others regained their composure, Finn’s eyes were bloodshot, his temperament explosive, yet he was unsure who to target.
He could only vent his immense anger by punching the air, his throat emitting continuous roars.
Berkeley, regaining his composure, approached Quincy: "Is Mr. Owen still alive?"
Quincy’s expression remained neutral: "We’ll know soon enough."
He then pointed to an electric eel: "You, come here."
The electric eel hesitated, pointing to itself: "Me?"
"Yes."
The electric eel walked over to Quincy, a sycophantic smile on its face.
Quincy’s hand surged with arcanergy, motioning in front of the electric eel.
To everyone’s clear view, Quincy’s fingertips ignited with a faint but steadfast blue flame. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
"This is your life flame. If you die, the flame will extinguish."
The electric eel, confused and frowning, was about to speak.
But Quincy suddenly pushed it into the well.
With a "gurgle," the electric eel disappeared beneath the water’s surface.
The sea races present all stared with eyes wide open. Were these truly their sea race brothers and sisters?
Quincy had only just managed to bring the sea races to his side, and now he was pushing them away again.
Stanbeck, dodging an attack from the Ambition Army, couldn’t help but shout, "What are you doing?"
Quincy, unconcerned, simply waved his hand, his gaze fixed on the faint blue flame on his fingertip: "Shh! Someone needs to scout ahead."
Stanbeck, feeling the angry glares from the masters of the sea race, was about to protest further when the commander of the Ambition Army charged again with his squad.
They were forced to engage in combat with the commander, putting the matter with Quincy on hold.
Ten seconds passed...
Twenty seconds passed...
A smile spread across Quincy’s face as he extinguished the blue flame on his fingertip: "Owen is still alive, probably in the world created by the temple’s drawings."
Finn and the others sighed in relief.
Quincy glanced at them, his smile growing: "Another piece of good news – no more ghosts are being ejected from the well."
That’s right, the group realized. During their long battle with the Ambition Army, no more ghosts had emerged from the well.
This meant...
"This truly is the entrance to the Heart of the Ocean," Quincy said, his face beaming with a smile.
His statement stirred excitement among the group.
They had come to Heartstealer Island for the Heart of the Ocean.
Although most were just along for the ride, contributing to the capture of the Heart of the Ocean would earn them commendation and recognition.
Quincy, noticing that the group’s focus was drifting away from the battle with the Ambition Army, spoke coldly, "If you all enter the well, what happens if the ghosts return in force? We’ll all be inside, trapped between endless ghosts. None of you would escape."
The group recalled the sky-darkening swarm of countless ghosts and shuddered at the thought. This was indeed a problem!
"So let’s send Stanbeck," Quincy pondered and finally named someone.
Stanbeck’s eyes lit up, flickering with excitement: "How can I leave my brothers and sisters behind?"
Quincy’s eyelids twitched suggestively: "Phyllis can go too."
"The space below is fraught with unknown dangers; how can we let Miss Phyllis take such a risk? I’ll go," Stanbeck was no fool.
Entering the well’s space now, he would only have Owen, another electric eel, and a few others as competitors.
His chances of obtaining the Heart of the Ocean greatly increased.
Phyllis rolled her eyes enchantingly, captivating those who saw.
Quincy stepped aside, and Stanbeck leaped into the well.
Quincy then clapped his hands: "Alright, let’s all stand guard here. I need you to work together and keep morale high."
The entire team contracted towards the magic array Quincy had just drawn.
In just that brief moment, two-tenths of the masters of the sea race had perished, while the Ambition Army only lost four members.
These ferociously brave beings were unlike humans - well, they weren’t human to begin with.
They realized that once they lost their advantage, their immediate thought was to perish with the enemy.
Trading one for one wasn’t a loss for them, and even causing severe injuries could give their comrades an upper hand.
After a cavalry ghost of the Ambition Army was overwhelmed and toppled by the combined efforts of the sea race, its chest pierced and both arms severed, everyone thought it had no capacity to retaliate.
Yet, in its dying moments, it managed to lunge forward, clamping its teeth onto the neck of a sea folk.
Had the others not reacted swiftly, the unfortunate sea folk would have been killed on the spot.
Now grievously injured, he was unable to continue fighting, posing a significant problem.
The Ambition Army’s cavalry ghost, even in its final effort, sought to take down another enemy.
It wasn’t until one of the masters drew his sword and decapitated the ghost that it finally dissipated into nothingness.
Faced with such fierce adversaries, the sea race warriors felt their morale dwindling.
They were all master-tier, possessing exceptional individual strength, but morale is not something that can be fostered through mere training.
Berkeley, frowning, murmured under his breath: "We can’t hold off the ghosts... It’s always our side that suffers losses."
Quincy, noticing the shaken confidence of his troops, began to channel arcanergy through his body: "Don’t worry, as long as we work together sincerely, we can hold them off for a long time."
Despite his unscrupulous methods, his strength was undeniable, and this bolstered everyone’s confidence.
Quincy’s hands moved through the air as if playing a piano, activating the magic array he had drawn.
A thin membrane, pale green with hints of gold, formed around the group, securely shielding them.
This light, not particularly dazzling, seemed to greatly discomfort the soldiers of the Ambition Army.
They shielded their eyes and turned their heads as if the light was overwhelmingly bright.
Their mounts too became restless, flicking their tails agitatedly.
Quincy, with a trace of smugness in his expression, lightly explained, "This magic array is only level 5, but it possesses a might comparable to a level 6 magic array. It can connect your spirit power with the arcanergy in your bodies, mutually reinforcing and merging. Under this effect, it can completely block their attacks."
"If this were a regular ghost army, the mere sight of the array’s light would cause them to dissipate into smoke instantly," he added.
He paused for a moment, then his eyes emitted a damp, chilling gaze, sweeping around the group with emphasis, "So, does anyone still have their mind on other matters instead of focusing on fighting the enemy?"
Several sea folks, caught under Quincy’s piercing gaze, visibly jolted.
They felt as if they were walking through a jungle, with a venomous snake coiled around a tree, its triangular eyes fixated on them as they passed beneath.
This feeling deterred them from any further distractions.
Uniting to repel the enemy was now the key priority.
