Scumbag Fate System-Chapter 67: Trial Room (2)
Silence descended in the trial room.
The red-uniformed professor and those who supported him were blankly staring at Reinhard.
The five professors who had their heads down were trembling with a look of confusion and disbelief.
The neutral professors were blinking, with some of them picking their ears, and others even pinching themselves.
All of them were shocked that a student, no... This person with no classes would dare tell them to shut up.
Victoria trembled as she covered her mouth. Professor Chen sighed as she looked down, and Issac hummed in amusement.
Before the professors can respond.
"Alright, let’s begin. No interruption."
Reinhard said, making all the professors freeze. He then turned to Yor’s as the entire trial room watched in suffocating silence.
Every professor leaned forward, even the ones who were still angry at Reinhard. Every breath was held as all of them gazed down at Yor, who was still holding her void orb.
"Think about the mall." Reinhard bluntly said as his words carried through the quiet room. "Think about those students you hurt. The ones lying in hospital beds right now. Think of the others whom you have hurt and whose lives you have ruined."
Yor’s expression flickered before sadness appeared in her silver eyes. The void orb pulsed once but maintained its orbit without exploding or expanding uncontrollably.
"Think about your parents," Reinhard continued relentlessly. "About how they suffered from your condition. About how your episode had ruined them fully and turned them into emotionless dolls."
Tears gathered in Yor’s eyes as her jaw trembled. The void orb spun faster for a moment before immediately stabilizing.
Several professors gasped, but the energy remained contained.
"Now think about your grandparents," Reinhard said, and his tone grew heavier. "How they died searching for a cure for you. How you never got to say goodbye or tell them you would rather they spent more time with you."
A sob escaped Yor’s throat as she clenched her free hand. The void orb still didn’t break apart even as grief appeared on her face.
Then Reinhard’s expression shifted completely as he smiled. He gave her some tissues, which she took and began wiping off the tears. And he could see she was relaxing, giving him a thumbs up with her other hand.
"Now think about yesterday." He said with his voice lifting. "When you realized you could control your power. When you know you’d never hurt anyone again by accident and can finally hug your friends... How did you feel?"
Yor trembled before saying. "I felt joy... So much that I forgot how good it felt." The void orb glowed brighter but maintained its perfect swirling in her hand.
"Think about us coming to save you in the ruins," Reinhard continued as his expression softened. "About fighting the Void together and everyone telling you that you matter... that your existence makes the world better."
Yor smile grew even more with a look of fondness appearing. The void orb pulsed with energy but never once faltered in its controlled rotation.
"Think about all those who care about you," Reinhard said softly. "How will all their efforts be rewarded, because now you are in control. You can finally show them that they were right to believe in you."
Yor trembled as her one hand gripped his wrist tighter. The void orb blazed with power but spun in perfect harmony with her emotions instead of exploding outward.
The room remained frozen in stunned silence as everyone processed what they’d just witnessed. Yor had experienced intense sadness, crushing grief, overwhelming joy, and ecstatic happiness all within minutes.
Her emotions had peaked higher than most people ever experienced. And her power had never once broken control.
The void orb continued its steady orbit as if nothing had happened at all.
"Not only will she not lose control," Reinhard announced to the watching professors with a smirk. "But she can safely touch others now. Her power won’t hurt anyone unless she chooses to activate it."
"That’s impossible!" The red-uniformed professor shouted as he stood abruptly. "You’re lying! There’s no way—"
Louis’s laugh cut him off mid-sentence before the sound echoed through the trial room. He strode forward with his usual easy confidence, then grabbed Yor’s arm directly with his bare hand.
Nothing happened.
"W-What?" The red-uniformed professor stared in disbelief.
Alice rushed over next with her enthusiasm impossible to contain, then wrapped Yor in a crushing hug from behind.
"T-That should be-"
Sirin approached and took Yor’s left hand in both of hers. The void orb simply adjusted its path to flow around both of them without disrupting its spin.
"N-No, stop it-"
Rika followed immediately after and then grasped Yor’s right hand with a gentle squeeze.
The red-uniformed professor fell silent as he stared in disbelief. It wasn’t just him; the sight rendered the other protesting professors speechless with their mouths left open. Some stared in awe at the impossible made real.
Others looked at the scene with something approaching absurdity on their features, as if their entire understanding of void magic had just been proven wrong.
Even Victoria blinked in surprise while Issac leaned forward, staring down in amazement and awe.
All four members of the Resonance club were touching Yor at once, and they were unaffected. Yor stood in the center of her friends with tears still wet on her cheeks, but her smile was radiant and beautiful.
The void orb circled lazily around all five of them as a visible representation of power that had finally been tamed.
Muttering spread through the neutral professors as they leaned toward each other. All of them exchanged rapid whispers about implications and possibilities and precedents.
Yor then looked up and spoke. "It might also be possible for me now to use my powers to help heal the students I affected. The ones in the mall and even the third-year students who went home. If I try... I might be able to take back the void energy I accidentally put in them."
Complete silence fell over the room before every professor’s face showed shock. Even Victoria’s carefully maintained composure cracked slightly as her eyebrows rose.
Then smiles began spreading as understanding dawned on the professors.
Reinhard inwardly chuckled as the plan was coming to fruition. If Yor could reverse the damage she’d caused, then this wasn’t just about preventing future incidents. This was about fixing past mistakes and restoring lives that had been destroyed.
The professors who had been neutral now nodded, and their expressions shifted to approval. Even some who had opposed her looked thoughtful rather than hostile as they reconsidered their positions.
Victoria stood with her silver eyes gleaming with satisfaction. "Well, if she can do all of this, then there’s no need for harsh punishment, is there?"
She smiled with her eyes closed, but the expression was more threatening than kind. Most of the opposing professors actually shivered before they nodded quickly in agreement.
The red-uniformed professor slumped back into his seat as defeat was written across his face. His arguments had been systematically dismantled with evidence he couldn’t refute.
The Headmaster stood as his presence commanded immediate attention. "We will now vote on Miss Noctyne’s status at the academy. All in favor of allowing her to remain enrolled without special restrictions and to continue participating in her club and attending regular classes, please raise your hands."
Hands rose throughout the room. The five professors who already knew about Yor controlling her power. Victoria and her allies. The neutral professors who had been swayed by the demonstration.
Even a few who had initially opposed now voted in favor.
The count was overwhelming.
"The vote passes," the Headmaster announced with satisfaction evident in his voice. "Miss Noctyne will remain a full student of Verellion Academy with all rights and privileges thereof."
Sirin and the others erupted into cheers while Reinhard smiled faintly.
Alice practically lifted Yor off her feet with another hug, and Louis pumped his fist in the air. Sirin laughed as she patted Yor on the back, while Rika wiped tears from her eyes as she continued holding Yor’s hand.
The trial room that had felt oppressive and hostile now buzzed with excitement. The professors who had voted against them looked less hostile and more resigned to accepting the outcome.
The Headmaster raised one hand for silence before his sharp eyes fixed on Yor with keen interest. "Miss Noctyne, you mentioned being able to heal those currently affected by your power. Can you truly restore the students who remain unconscious in the medical wing?"
Yor straightened as her friends released her but stayed close. "I believe I can. I’ve never tried, but the theory is sound. If I can control void energy now, then I should be able to extract it from others."
"Theory is not certainty," the Headmaster pointed out, though his tone wasn’t unkind. "Are you willing to attempt this healing? To prove that your control extends beyond maintaining your own power to actually reversing damage already done?"
The weight of that question settled over the room as everyone realized what was being asked. This wasn’t just about Yor’s future anymore. This was about the futures of dozens of students whose lives had been stolen.
"I’m willing to try," Yor said with her voice steady despite the enormous pressure. "I want to fix what I broke." 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
The Headmaster nodded before turning his gaze to two specific professors. "Professor Chen, Miss Victoria. You will accompany Miss Noctyne and her companions to the medical wing immediately. Document everything, and if this works..."
He trailed off, but the implication was clear. If Yor could actually heal void corruption, then the applications went far beyond just fixing her own mistakes.
This could revolutionize how they dealt with void-related injuries throughout the entire continent.
Professor Chen stood with her stern expression softening slightly. "Understood."
Victoria’s smile was sharp and pleased as she rose from her seat with grace. "It would be my pleasure to witness this."
"Then this trial is concluded pending the results of the healing attempt," the Headmaster declared. "You are dismissed."
