Secretly Married to the Ice-Cold CEO-Chapter 105: The Family Heirloom
Chapter 105: Chapter 105: The Family Heirloom
Inside the box is a necklace. The pendant is a hollow small sphere, with a gemstone inside. No matter from which angle it is viewed, it exudes a luxurious radiance. Connected to the pendant are two small dragon-shaped carvings, with impeccable detailing showing the necklace is not an ordinary piece.
An Junxi admired the necklace carefully and asked Gu Yikun, "Is this necklace expensive?"
Gu Yikun held her slim waist and said, "This is a family heirloom given to Young Madam Gu by my mother."
An Junxi’s hand slipped, and the necklace fell onto the bed. She picked it up gingerly, startled, and asked, "Gu Family’s heirloom must be invaluable?" She couldn’t help but use the cloth from the box to wipe it twice before solemnly placing the necklace back inside.
Gu Yikun chuckled softly, correcting her, "Wife, you’re not quite right. It’s not Gu Family’s heirloom; it’s our family’s heirloom, now passed into your hands. Wear this necklace tomorrow night when we go to dinner at the big house; it’s a symbol of your status."
An Junxi felt very touched, "I didn’t expect your mother to treat me so well, giving me such an important item. I’ll wear it tomorrow. From now on, we should lock it up in your safe, or else I fear it might not be secure."
After speaking, she tucked the box under the pillow and patted it reassuringly, cherishing it.
Gu Yikun looked at his adorable wife and couldn’t help but embrace her, saying, "Wife, I’ll buy you another one in a few days."
An Junxi replied, "It’s not necessary for you to give me gifts all the time, but if you do, I’ll be very happy." Unexpectedly, her husband was also quite considerate.
An Junxi lay in bed, Gu Yikun turned off the light and lay down. She instinctively nestled into his arms, and Gu Yikun kissed her forehead lightly, "Tomorrow I’ll go to the company, and try to come back early to go with you."
An Junxi understood, "You focus on your work, I can go by myself."
"You’re indeed the Young Madam, very confident. I like it."
An Junxi giggled, "I’ll do my best, hoping not to make any mistakes."
"It’s fine even if you do, your husband will cover for you."
Feeling content, An Junxi lay in his arms. As she was about to fall asleep, a thought suddenly occurred to her.
The necklace was meant for Young Madam Gu, did it come from Yin Yue, then passed on to her?
It wouldn’t be strange, after all, Yin Yue was Gu Yikun’s ex-wife, and gave birth to Jin Xiu, rightfully the Young Madam. Who’s to say she didn’t deserve this necklace?
With these thoughts, An Junxi began to feel uneasy. She secretly blamed herself for being petty and jealous of Yin Yue. Wasn’t that really awful?
Feeling miserable, An Junxi turned over, facing away from Gu Yikun.
Gu Yikun hadn’t fallen asleep yet. Unaware of his wife’s unease, his hand instinctively rested on her waist, his body leaning towards hers, his chest pressing against her back.
The more An Junxi thought, the clearer she became, losing all semblance of sleep. She turned to look at Gu Yikun’s face in the faint light, he had his eyes closed, breathing steadily and deeply, seemingly asleep.
Not wanting to wake him, she rested her head on his arm, idly playing with his pajamas.
Gu Yikun was always mindful of An Junxi’s every move, holding her restless hand and asking, "Why can’t you sleep?"
An Junxi hesitated, never having mentioned Yin Yue in his presence, unsure if it was appropriate.
After waiting for a long time without her reply, Gu Yikun propped himself up to look at her face, then reached to turn on the light.
The room lit up again. Gu Yikun leaned back against the headboard, turning An Junxi’s body towards him, and asked concernedly, "What’s the matter?"
An Junxi bit her lip, not knowing how to start, afraid Gu Yikun might find her petty and dislike her?
Gu Yikun gently stroked her lips with his long fingers, saying, "Don’t torment yourself like this. You can tell me anything."
"I’m afraid you won’t like it. Promise me first, you won’t dislike me."
Gu Yikun laughed, "It seems I haven’t given you enough sense of security." Otherwise, she wouldn’t say such things.
Gathering her courage, An Junxi asked, "Did Yin Yue wear this necklace?"
Gu Yikun fell silent.
An Junxi’s heart sank. She turned away again, "I was just asking. Let’s sleep."
Gu Yikun turned off the light and lay down.
An Junxi thought he would hug her, at least give some explanation, but he didn’t.
She chided herself for being pretentious, Yin Yue knew him first, was his ex-wife. Even if she did wear that necklace, what could she do?
Trying to hypnotize herself not to dwell on these thoughts, An Junxi felt terribly uneasy.
She moved to the edge of the bed, eyes open, staring out the window, imagining Gu Yikun and Yin Yue lying together.
She self-mockingly smiled; women are always petty.
She didn’t know how long had passed when, just as she was about to fall asleep, Gu Yikun suddenly pulled her into his arms, his deep voice softly saying, "I never liked Yin Yue. She drugged me, leading to a forced marriage. Apart from that night, I never touched her again. She had a spoiled temper, couldn’t bear living with elders in the old house, often fighting with my mother. My mother didn’t like her, and never gave her the necklace."
An Junxi didn’t expect such a detailed explanation from him, she hugged his waist back, "Yikun, I won’t ask such petty questions again."
"No," Gu Yikun lowered his head and accurately kissed her forehead, "You care about me, that’s why you’re concerned. I understand."
An Junxi felt warmth in her eyes; she rubbed her face against his chest, "Hmm."
Gu Yikun added, "I’ve had two relationships, but I am clear that I love you now, Xi Xi. You can tell me anything in the future, don’t keep it inside."
An Junxi nodded, "I will."
That night, An Junxi slept very soundly.
The next morning, An Junxi woke up naturally, realizing it was almost eleven o’clock. She routinely took leave from her boss, saying she’d return to work the next day.
Gong Xiaoyu was already used to An Junxi skipping work now and then, "I’ll treat it as absenteeism anyway, you’re a wealthy Mrs. Gu."
Feeling guilty, An Junxi said, "Alright, alright, thank you, boss."
"Tomorrow night, come with me to look at furniture. My new house is renovated. Don’t stand me up, or I’ll surely make you pay!"
An Junxi shrugged her shoulder, "Fine, I’ll be at your service all day tomorrow."
"That’s more like it."
After hanging up, An Junxi went downstairs to have breakfast. Actually, it was already lunchtime.
Sister Li specially made a medicinal meal for An Junxi, saying, "Jun Xi, this is both breakfast and lunch. After you finish, you’ll wait until tonight at the old house to eat. Otherwise, your clothes won’t look good on you."
Seeing Sister Li so earnest, An Junxi also started feeling nervous, "Is Seventh Uncle very strict?"
