Chapter 606: Arrival at Wanbao Island and Entry into the Treasure Pavilion

The Falling Star Sea Region was vast, with islands scattered across it like stars in the sky.

Its general shape resembled a triangle.

Hidden Dragon Island occupied the northernmost point.

The Sun-Moon Sect dominated the southwest.

The Treasure Alliance controlled the southeast.

These three factions had effectively divided the entire Falling Star Sea Region among themselves.

Hidden Dragon Island and the Sun-Moon Sect were entangled in constant disputes—not exactly friendly.

The Treasure Alliance, however, had always remained neutral, conducting trade with both sides.

From Liuyun Island to Wanbao Island, the journey spanned nearly a million li.

That was equivalent to two or three times the distance from the northernmost to the southernmost point of Jing Nation.

Even for a Nirvana Realm cultivator, it would take three to five days.

And one had to pray not to encounter unexpected dangers such as storms, lightning disasters, or sea beasts.

Otherwise, not only would the journey take longer—

One’s life might even be at risk.

However, perhaps because Shi Tianhao was traveling with them, or perhaps due to Shen Mo’s own luck,

The group arrived at Wanbao Island safely and without incident.

And they arrived a day and a half earlier than expected.

Wanbao Island was the largest island under the control of the Treasure Alliance.

It was practically the size of a small continent.

“Daoist Shen cultivated under his master from a young age and has had little contact with the outside world. He likely doesn’t know much about the Treasure Alliance,”

Liu Yuntian said with a smile as he noticed Shen Mo surveying the surroundings.

Shen Mo nodded. “That’s true. I only have some shallow understanding of Hidden Dragon Island. As for the Sun-Moon Sect and the Treasure Alliance, I know very little.”

Liu Yuntian pointed toward Zhang Changheng. “Daoist Zhang once served as a consecrated elder of the Treasure Alliance before joining Hidden Dragon Island. He knows a great deal about it.”

Zhang Changheng nodded. “Then allow me to give Daoist Shen a brief introduction.”

“The Treasure Alliance is composed of twenty-six major merchant guilds and over two hundred smaller ones.”

“The true power behind the Treasure Alliance lies in the hands of the owners of those twenty-six major guilds.”

“That man Xing Zhong is merely the owner of one of the smaller guilds.”

“The alliance lord of the Treasure Alliance, Wang Chengfu, is the owner of the largest guild—Wanbao Guild.”

“This Wanbao Island is the guild’s base of operations and the origin of its rise to power.”

“The Treasure Alliance is very different from Hidden Dragon Island and the Sun-Moon Sect. It’s wealthy yet loosely organized, driven solely by profit.”

“If there’s profit, Treasure Alliance cultivators swarm forward. If there’s none, they scatter immediately.”

Zhang Changheng waved a hand. “That’s why I left the Treasure Alliance. It’s nothing more than a pile of loose sand, so I chose to join Hidden Dragon Island.”

After hearing all this, Shen Mo nodded thoughtfully.

Such a force composed of merchants did indeed lack cohesion.

As long as the pie was big enough to feed everyone, the internal disorder could be hidden.

But if the pie became too small to divide—collapse would only be a matter of time.

“That building up ahead is the Treasure Pavilion of Wanbao Island—it’s where the auction will be held.”

“Let’s go. I still have a few friends in the Treasure Alliance who might be able to provide us with some conveniences.”

Zhang Changheng said with a smile.

Shen Mo and the others followed.

Upon arriving at the Treasure Pavilion, Shen Mo looked up and was immediately struck by the building’s extravagance.

Two massive stone pillars stood at the entrance, wrapped in pure gold and carved with silver beast patterns.

Servants clad in luxurious brocade garments bustled about, constantly welcoming honored guests of the Wanbao Guild.

They were no mortals—each was at least a Core Formation Realm cultivator.

But in the Treasure Pavilion, they were merely servants.

The entrance was bustling with people, vibrant and lively.

Yet everyone remained patient, lining up to enter in an orderly fashion.

A richly dressed cultivator stood at the gate, overseeing the crowd.

When he saw Zhang Changheng, surprise crossed his face.

“Brother Zhang! What brings you here?”

Zhang Changheng broke into a smile as soon as he saw him.

“Brother Liu, I didn’t expect you to be on duty today.”

The two exchanged some polite greetings.

Zhang Changheng then introduced him to the group. “This is Liu Rixin, Third Steward of the Wanbao Guild.”

“Back when I served as a consecrated elder in the Treasure Alliance, Steward Liu and I became friends.”

Liu Rixin laughed heartily. “You’re all Brother Zhang’s friends, right? No need to wait in line—come with me.”

“I’ll arrange a private room for you, so you won’t have to squeeze in with the general crowd.”

With that, he gestured for Zhang Changheng and the others to follow.

Led by Liu Rixin, they bypassed the queue and entered the Treasure Pavilion directly.

Once inside the luxurious building, Shen Mo realized the interior space was even grander than expected.

At the center of the Treasure Pavilion stood a massive circular auction platform, with a passage extending toward the rear.

Surrounding it were tiered seating areas, already filled with cultivators.

Further up were three rows of private rooms.

Clearly, only those with sufficient status—and able to pay the price—were eligible to sit there.

Liu Rixin led Shen Mo and the group to one of the third-row rooms.

Upon entering, Shen Mo immediately noticed how drastically different it was from the general seating outside.

The decor was elegant and refined. All furniture was made from thousand-year pearlwood, inlaid with various gemstones.

The wall facing the stage was made of one-way transparent crystal, allowing a clear view of the auction platform,

while preventing outsiders from seeing into the private room.

Shen Mo clicked his tongue quietly in admiration.

He thought to himself that the Treasure Alliance truly knew how to conduct business.

No wonder it had become the wealthiest faction in the Falling Star Sea Region.

“The Heaven-class and Earth-class private rooms are already full, so I can only arrange a Human-class room for you,”

Liu Rixin said warmly, though Shen Mo couldn’t shake the feeling that his smile was a bit insincere.

As if he were smiling at their money, not out of genuine friendship.

Zhang Changheng cupped his fists. “Thank you, Brother Liu. A Human-class room is already more than enough.”

Liu Rixin smiled again. “However, I still need you to present top-grade spirit stones. That’s the rule—I can’t bend it.”

“So, who among you will present them?”

Zhang Changheng nodded. He was well aware of the rules at the Treasure Pavilion and immediately handed over a storage ring.

“There are 500,000 top-grade spirit stones inside.”

Liu Rixin shook his head. “Five hundred thousand? That’s not enough. The entry threshold has gone up.”

Zhang Changheng’s expression shifted slightly. “How much is required now?”

Liu Rixin held up two fingers. “Two million.”

Upon hearing that, Liu Yuntian, Wei Jincheng, and Shi Tianhao also showed signs of discomfort.

The treasures they carried were certainly valuable,

but they weren’t in the habit of carrying two million top-grade spirit stones on them.

Normally, thirty to four hundred thousand would be more than enough for travel.

After all, they had only come to spectate—not to buy some extremely rare or top-tier item.

Liu Rixin’s smile faded slightly. “This makes things difficult… If you don’t have enough top-grade spirit stones, I can’t assign you a Human-class private room.”

Zhang Changheng looked embarrassed. “It used to be 500,000—why the sudden increase?”

Liu Rixin chuckled. “The Bloodsun Sword Sect from the Taiping Sea Region and the Five Thunders Mountain Sect from the Thunderfury Sea Region have both sent representatives.”

“With more people attending, the entry price naturally rises.”

“Don’t take it personally, Brother Zhang.”

Liu Yuntian clicked his tongue. “No wonder…”

Those two factions had rarely taken part in the Falling Star Sea Region’s grand auctions.

Their arrival naturally brought along other sects from their respective regions.

As a result, securing a private room now required significantly greater financial backing.

“Can’t even pool enough together?”

Liu Rixin’s smile faded entirely. “Then I’m afraid there’s nothing I can do. I’ll have to ask you all to leave.”
