The swirling dust parted like a curtain.

And then they all saw him.

Trigon.

Or what looks like him.

A black ghost-form, massive and ethereal, cloaked in writhing shadows and fire. His six eyes burned red through the void, each one trained on them. Beneath him, his clawed hands hovered just above the broken, volcanic ground. Around him, dozens of fire demons crouched four-eyed beasts made of flame and hate, hissing and chittering in distorted tongues.

And at the center of it all Raven.

She was on her knees, chained by obsidian energy rooted to Trigon's ghostly body. Her skin was very pale, her cloak torn.

Arthur's eyes snapped to her.

And slowly, as if feeling that familiar weight... her head turned.

Their eyes locked.

"...Arthur...?" her voice cracked, barely more than a whisper. Her body trembled. "Is that really... you?"

From behind, Trigon's terrible laughter echoed across the dimension, deep and resonating like thunder crashing through bones.

"Do not be fooled, daughter," the ghost-form rumbled. "This is yet another illusion. Another test. Another lie."

She clutched her head, eyes wide in pain and confusion.

"No. No...wait...this is one of your games again... Father..."

A whisper of displaced wind and Arthur was gone from where he stood.

with [speed step] across the field in a blink, the ground cracking behind him as he knelt beside her. She recoiled slightly at first but then his hand gently tilted her chin upward, and she looked into his face.

"This is no game, Raven," Arthur said, voice calm but powerful. "We're actually here."

She reached forward slowly uncertainly and touched his face, her fingers tracing over the line of his jaw.

"...It's actually... you..." she whispered.

He nodded, seeing the dark veins beneath her skin, the strain in her breath, the weight of Trigon's influence gnawing at her from within.

She collapsed into him, wrapping her arms around him in a trembling embrace.

But then, voice tight with desperation, she pulled back.

"No...wait...you shouldn't be here," she pleaded, glancing over his shoulder. "None of you should be here..."

Behind them, Trigon stirred. His six eyes began to glow more violently.

"Go, daughter of mine," the demon god said, his voice like a grinding mountain. "Return to Earth. Return to your prison."

"NO!" she shouted, louder now, her energy flaring briefly. "That's what you want! You want me to open a passage! You want to flow through me, to become whole, to break your true seal!"

She coughed, wincing, clutching her side. Her voice came weaker now, each syllable like fire on her tongue.

John's eyes narrowed. "Of course," he muttered. "This wanker's demons? Easy enough to scatter across Earth, no problem. But he..the real him can't walk freely there unless summoned. Or..."

He gestured toward Raven.

"...or channeled through someone like her, his own blood, half human, half demon. A walking key.. Get his real body free from Azarath and then let hell loose... Slimy bastard."

Raven gritted her teeth and looked back at Arthur. "He isn't whole., but he's still strong. You have to... you have to.."

Arthur gently took her hand from his cheek and stood.

And then he turned to face the monster.

His Demon King Longsword unfurled into his grip with a sound like metal screaming through the air. The blade crackled blue lightning sparking across its edge as his shadow pulsed outward in jagged tendrils.

His eyes glowed with fierce, brilliant blue fire.

"I wonder..." he said coldly, the air trembling around him. "What kind of shadow soldier you might become."

He raised the sword blue lightning howling across the obsidian around his feet.

"But we shall find out now."

Trigon's six eyes flared in a violent red blaze.

"INSOLENT MORTAL!"

Kara stepped up beside Arthur, her eyes wide at Raven, but her fists clenched.

"She really is here... then we're not leaving without her."

Zatanna, pale but focused, formed glowing symbols in the air with her fingers.

"Such demonic power.." she whispered. "yet it's still just a soul that we can seal again."

As the six hellish eyes of Trigon blazed with rage, the molten ground beneath them cracked, glowing with rivers of fire. Demons snarled. Smoke twisted upward like writhing serpents.

Arthur stood still sword raised, eyes glowing blue, his shadow coiling outward like a living tempest.

And then... a pulse.

A deep, bone-vibrating boom echoed in the air.

From the shattered gate behind them, a massive figure emerged dragging four eyed demonic bodies behind him, steps shaking the stone.

Doom.

Towering. Silent. His flesh dark, armor jagged, fists clenched. Black smoke curled off his body like the aftermath of a meteor strike. His glowing red eyes locked on Trigon, but he didn't say a word.

He strode past Kara and Zatanna like a walking executioner. And without hesitation... knelt beside Arthur, his head bowed.

Then came a blinding black streak that cut across the air like a comet.

It crashed down with a thunderclap, the wind blasting outward.

Galatea.

Hovering midair for a moment, hair whipping around her face like a goddess of war, her eyes glowing. She landed hard beside Arthur with one knee down, cape billowing behind her.

She glanced at him once. That was all. And then she, too, bowed.

And then the air twisted.

From the scorched sky, a blur of violet light descended like a comet. It crashed down beside Arthur, smoke and ash blasting outward. When the dust cleared, the figure stood tall Ultra, his armor sleek and obsidian black, but pulsing with deep violet veins of energy. His glowing violet eyes burned, and the massive "U" emblazoned on his chest blazed like a sigil of judgment.

He dropped to one knee without hesitation, his voice like a distortion through steel and storm.

"My king, what shall we do with these insects."

Three of Arthur's most powerful shadows.

Even Trigon's massive ghost-form paused, his six eyes narrowing as he beheld them.

his voice was thunder and rot, echoing across the ruined chamber like prophecy made fire.

"Your little pets, mortal... are not enough. I am a god. Even in this fractured shell of my true self... you cannot hope to match me."

Arthur didn't reply with words.

He simply gestured with his hand and pointed it toward Raven.

Doom understood instantly.

The monstrous shadow stepped forward with silent obedience, his towering frame a titan of destruction. With a leap that shattered the stone beneath him, he landed beside Raven, the obsidian chains wrapping her like black serpents rattling in response.

Raven's head slowly turned. "D...Doomsday?" she whispered.

He reached down and gripped the chains smoke hissed from his fingers as dark magic tried to resist.

For a moment... they held.

Then Doom roared a primal, guttural bellow of pure force. His spikes got even more jagged. The air shook. And with one final scream, the chains SNAPPED like brittle glass.

With the care of a beast cradling fire, Doom lifted Raven into his arms and leapt clear of the battlefield, landing softly beside Zatanna and Kara.

And then BOOM.

Six beams of molten eye-fire exploded from Trigon's monstrous ghostly face, each targeting Arthur in a deadly, strike.

But Arthur was already moving.

[Speed Step]

He blurred, dodging left, vanishing mid-air, reappearing behind a crumbling pillar, then twisting in mid-air again to avoid a follow-up blast. The ground vaporized where he had stood a breath too late.

"NO MORE INSOLENCE IN MY REALM!" Trigon howled, his voice cracking the sky.

But it wasn't just Arthur anymore.

Ultra shot into the sky like a violet meteor His fists met fire demons mid-air and shattered them like glass sculptures, violet energy crackling with every punch. One demon tried to phase into the shadows Ultra grabbed its throat mid-fade and slammed it into the ground hard enough to cause a quake.

Galatea, meanwhile, blurred across the battlefield like a blade. Her fists punched clean through flaming beasts. Her eyes lit up, beams slicing through demons in a deadly arc. She grinned mid-combat.

"Ghosts or Demons!" she shouted, "I still love punching monsters!"

Zatanna blinked, shielding her face from the smoke. "Are we even needed?"

Kara stood beside her, eyes wide as Galatea ripped a demon's head off mid-flight. "Honestly... starting to wonder."

John Constantine stood at the edge of the ruined gateway, arms crossed, trench coat flapping in the demonic winds. He watched as Arthur spun in the air, blue lightning lashing from his blade, clashing with Trigon's hellfire like titans battling for heaven and hell.

John exhaled smoke from his cigarette and muttered, "We're still needed."

Kara and Z turned to him, confused.

He didn't look away from the chaos.

"Arthur's a stubborn, brilliant, idiot. All fists and brute force. He'll challenge a god with a bloody snarl and a sword." He flicked ash. "But we're the brains, yeah? Only we can seal this wanker. He's making the noise..."

John's eyes narrowed with a grin as his fingers began weaving a glowing sigil in the air. freewёbnoνel.com

"...we'll bring the silence."
