She Asks for a Divorce Again-Chapter 348: Find People
Chapter 348: Chapter 348: Find People
Shen Heyu was left speechless.
Recently, she had noticed that Pei Yansi was becoming less like his old self. Toward others, he remained as cold and indifferent as ever, but when it came to himself, he always had a slightly gentler demeanor.
"Did Yun Lan come visit me?" Shen Heyu asked.
Hearing her shift the topic back to Lu Yunlan, Pei Yansi frowned slightly, his tone becoming slightly impatient, "Why do you bring her up again?"
Shen Heyu looked at him discontentedly, "I’m concerned about him."
"Why don’t you ask about me?"
"Didn’t I already ask?" Shen Heyu thought he was strange, nonsensical and not thinking before he spoke.
Pei Yansi sighed internally, realizing that getting her to care about him still seemed a long way off.
He said, "She hasn’t come. However, Lu Yi did."
Upon hearing that Lu Yi had come, Shen Heyu felt a jolt in her heart.
"With his condition, how could he come visit me?" she asked anxiously, "Is he alright? He’s still in a cast, how could he be out of bed, with his oxygen mask still on!"
Shen Heyu became anxious, almost wanting to get out of bed to check on Lu Yi.
She didn’t notice that Pei Yansi, sitting by the bed, gradually darkened in expression because of her series of actions.
He stared at her coldly, "Are you that worried about him?"
Why didn’t she ask about him at all upon waking up?
Was this the disparity?
Shen Heyu said, "He’s a patient now, of course I’m worried. You’re perfectly fine, robust and lively, and even causing me trouble out of the blue. Should I be worried about you too?"
After speaking, she flipped off the covers, intending to get out of bed.
Pei Yansi felt a headache coming on, rueing that he had deliberately tested her—now, the trouble he found was his own.
He quickly pushed her back down, "Rest well. He didn’t come down, he wanted to, but I sent him back. He is perfectly fine. Can you relax now?"
Shen Heyu sighed in relief, lying back down, then immediately glared at him discontentedly, "Then why did you lie to me?"
Pei Yansi raised an eyebrow, arms crossed, not feeling at all like he was in the wrong, "Seeing you’re not worried about me at all, I wanted to see if you’d be worried about Lu Yi."
"Indeed, the outcome of my test shows he’s much more important to you."
Shen Heyu looked at him speechlessly.
She found she understood this man’s way of thinking less and less.
Shen Heyu wanted to say something else when suddenly her stomach growled.
She had been unconscious since morning, sustained only by IV fluids, and hadn’t eaten at all.
Hearing her stomach, Pei Yansi glanced at her, "Hungry?"
Shen Heyu nodded sheepishly, despite having said earlier that she wasn’t hungry.
Pei Yansi said, "What would you like to eat? I’ll have Zhao Jing bring it."
For some reason, Shen Heyu didn’t feel like eating anything from outside; upon remembering the spaghetti Pei Yansi used to make, she suddenly craved it dearly.
Seeing her silent, Pei Yansi looked perplexed, "What? Not hungry anymore?"
Shen Heyu deliberated her words for a moment, then said, "I don’t want anything from outside, I only want what you cook."
Pei Yansi was stunned for a moment.
He then chuckled softly.
Although it was but a fleeting smile, it was clear enough for Shen Heyu to see. She had to admit, even though the man wasn’t much, he had a charm when he smiled that could captivate anyone.
Pei Yansi tousled her hair, "I’ll be back soon."
Shen Heyu nodded.
Their relationship hadn’t been good, and her request seemed a bit abrupt.
But Pei Yansi’s compliance made them seem like a harmonious couple. Shen Heyu felt uneasy and only began to relax as she saw him leave.
Then she wondered, Chen Wenzhou had just left, but what was going to happen between him and Lu Yunlan?
As she pondered, Lu Yunlan came in.
First, she looked around the hospital room, and seeing that there was no one else, she sighed in relief. Then she approached the bed and closed the door securely.
Seeing her act so sneakily made Shen Heyu chuckle, "What are you watching out for? Afraid of thieves?"
Lu Yunlan patted her chest and sat down where Pei Yansi had been sitting, "Chen Wenzhou pushed you. You don’t know how furious Pei Yansi was at that. I was worried he might take his anger out on me."
"You know how scary he can be when he’s angry."
Shen Heyu nodded, "That’s true. How is Lu Yi doing?"
Lu Yunlan said, "Much better, don’t worry about him. Focus on getting well. I’m here to apologize on Chen Wenzhou’s behalf."
Shen Heyu shook her head, "It’s not your fault; it’s all because of Chen Wenzhou. But, you really need to think carefully, are you sure you want to continue with him?"
Lu Yunlan sighed; she knew her visit would inevitably include this questioning.
She said, "I’m not sure. I can’t let go, but at the same time, I feel he’s not worth it."
Shen Heyu said, "Maybe you really should hear him out. Does he have some difficult circumstances he can’t talk about?"
"But my brother is right, no matter the circumstances or how discordant the feelings are, he shouldn’t have resorted to such harsh measures."
Shen Heyu sighed, not sure what else to say.
Finally, Lu Yunlan continued, "Give me some time to think about it. If I haven’t ended things with him in this time, will you blame me?"
"Why would I blame you?"
"After all, he hurt you today. If I still..."
She didn’t finish her sentence when Shen Heyu interrupted, "That was his mistake, not yours. I won’t blame you. Your feelings are your own choice; I surely won’t interfere. Maybe I will have reservations about him, but certainly not about you."
Lu Yunlan felt a twinge at the tip of her nose.
Touched, she stood up and hugged her, "Thank you, Heyu."
Shen Heyu smiled, "Why are we even talking about thanks, Yun Lan? You and Brother Lu Yi have helped me a lot these past years. I remember it all."
Lu Yunlan, feeling somewhat guilty, touched her nose.
She was about to say more when suddenly, the sound of high heels echoed from outside.
Clicking steadily and unhurried.
Right after, the hospital room door opened, and Han Manyin entered. She looked at Shen Heyu and asked bluntly, "Where did you send Shen Jiangli to the madhouse? Why can’t I find him?"
Shen Heyu frowned in confusion, "What does that have to do with me? Isn’t he just staying where he was?"
Han Manyin said, "I went there today, and he’s not there at all! Did you do something, hiding him somewhere? Where is he?"
