Chapter 1589: Castle in the sky (4)
I looked up with a surprised look when I heard this voice and I saw something that I definitely didn’t expect.
There was a holographic display that was showing some kind of video.
It was unknown if this was a recording or a live feed, but there was no doubt that this was a proper holographic projection.
Only why would there be this kind of technology in a magic fantasy world?
There were many things that I had discovered before that didn’t really fit into the scope of the magic fantasy world and the more that I thought about it, the more strange that this world seemed.
But I didn’t get that much time to think about all of this as the voice continued to speak.
The one that was speaking was a kind looking old man who seemed like he was a grandfather from the neighbourhood.
However, there was one eye catching feature about this video.
It was that on the back of this kind looking old man, there were a pair of white wings.
They seemed to be some kind of angel wings with how they were attached to his back.
Was he an angel?
"I’m sure that you must have some idea of what this place is before coming here, but I’ll tell you exactly what this place is for. As you might have expected, there is a Relic of Destruction that is sealed here."
I couldn’t help knitting my brows when I heard this.
After all, I really didn’t expect the kind looking old man to suddenly reveal that there was a Relic of Destruction here. But at the very least, this confirmed that I was indeed in the right place.
Though it didn’t confirm if the Relic of Destruction was even still in this place.
"Our angel race was entrusted with the task of keeping that Relic of Destruction safe until the one that was destined to take it arrived. Out of all the four races that were entrusted with the Relics of Destruction, we were the only ones that went into the sky like this, which is where this castle came from." freewebnσvel.cѳm
"Four races?" I couldn’t help repeating after hearing this.
I had only seen traces of a single race, the angel race and that was after already finding three of the four Relics of Destruction...
So what happened to those three other races that this old man mentioned?
It would make sense that the gods would entrust the Relics of Destruction to four races to guard over them since leaving them sealed wasn’t the best plan. But there had been no traces of the other three races...
Once again, I didn’t get to think that much about this as the old man continued what he was saying.
"In the end, we weren’t able to guard that Relic of Destruction until the chosen one came to claim it. This is the last message that I’m recording for the one that has arrived in this place. I’m not even certain if you will be the chosen one, but I hope that you will at least listen to this old man’s final words."
I was caught off guard once more.
After all, the tone of this message really changed around quite a bit.
It went from a serious message to a final message just like that...
"I never would have thought that our angel race would end up like this and all because of a disease, but sometimes that’s just how it is. Ke, ke."
Once again, I couldn’t help knitting my brows after hearing this.
There was a part of me that really wanted to curse out this kind looking old man.
"Why can’t you just say everything at once? Why do you have to keep stalling like this?"
The more that the old man said, the more of the picture that I was putting together.
But at the same time, it really was annoying how he kept stalling with his words when he was talking.
Eventually, the kind looking old man got to the main point.
"Now that our angel race is about to die, we’ve activated the final barrier around the Relic of Destruction that will keep it safe until the chosen one comes. I hope that you are either the chosen one or the one that will bring the chosen one here."
I couldn’t help slightly knitting my brows when I heard this.
After all, the sincerity in the kind old man’s voice made it clear that he was ready to face his death.
It was a special kind of courage that was required to face death like this.
But then there was a chill that ran down my spine as I heard the last words that the kind old man had to say. It really made it hard for me to see him as a kind old man after hearing these words.
"If you are not the chosen one or someone related to him, if you are an intruder who has destroyed the sacred barrier of our goddess..." His face turned cold as he said, "Know that the wrath of the angels will fall on you even from beyond the grave. We will let you know the fury of the greatest followers of the goddess."
As soon as his voice fell, the video cut off.
It was a cut off that came at the perfect time to emphasize how serious the kind looking old man had been about this.
When the chill of this disappeared, I couldn’t help revealing a faint smile and shaking my head.
It seemed that the angel race was quite devoted in their worship of the gods. It seemed that they went even further than those from the Holy Empire in their devotion to the gods.
At the very least, this video message confirmed that there should be traces of the Relic of Destruction in this castle.
I hope that the final barrier that they activated was strong enough to remain until now.
