Shrouded Seascape-Chapter 1061: Light God?
With her energy being steadily drained away, the once-glowing tips of Lily's hair dimmed. Like strands of seaweed, they drifted weightlessly in the water.
In a mere short span of two seconds, nearly half of the power that used to belong to the Light God was siphoned away from within Lily.
Realization sank into Lily. She knew that if things continued as they were, her energy would be completely drained, and that would be her demise. She couldn't just sit by idly and watch it happen.
The next moment, she transformed into a streak of light and rushed backward in a strategic retreat.
However, the massive orb had already tasted its prize. At an astonishing speed, it chased after Lily, determined to absorb every last bit of energy within her.
Lily made the decisive move to retaliate. Blinding cones of light protruded from her back and shot toward the glowing orb. However, such an attack was far from effective. On the contrary, it fed the orb with more energy, amplifying its brilliance.
Lily's abilities—her strength, her attack patterns, her energy, and her power—all of them originated from the Light God.
Now faced against an enemy capable of nullifying the Light God's powers, she was rendered powerless to fight back. More importantly, Lily couldn't even escape. The massive orb was nearly as fast as her.
Countless thoughts raced through Lily's mind. Suddenly, she made a sharp maneuver and dove straight toward the massive ice wall beneath the water's surface.
The ice layer vaporized instantly under Lily's radiant sunlight, creating a deep crater dozens of meters into the wall. Lily immediately shot through the tunnel of ice.
The massive orb was hot in pursuit. But the moment it reached the entrance, a series of cracks echoed underwater as the spider-web fissures within the ice instantly had them surrounded.
But clearly, the ice fissures were more interested in the massive orb as compared to Lily.
In the heat of the moment, this was the only plan Lily had managed to come up with. Since her attacks had no effect, she just needed to find something that could deal with the orb,
The originally frosty ice began to darken, its clarity vanishing. When the glowing orb's reflection appeared on the ice surface, the web of fractures within the ice were reflected upon the orb at the same time.
The glowing orb seemed to have turned into a fragile glass orb and looked as though it would shatter the next second.
Shwuck!
A burst of radiant light lit up the sea. The temperature surged, spiking toward the unfathomable heat of a solar inferno.
Under such a high temperature, the very ice that separated the ocean into two sides began to collapse.
The same power that Lily once wielded was now being unleashed on a scale far beyond anything she could match. The ice fissures couldn't stand a chance against it.
Had it not been for the lingering energy within Lily that had belonged to the Light God, she would have been vaporized as well.
However, that didn't make her situation any better because the massive orb had turned its attention back on her and was surging toward her.
With nothing else to obstruct its path, it closed the distance between them at a terrifying speed.
Spanning dozens of kilometers, the glowing orb narrowed the gap so quickly that its searing edge was mere meters from brushing against the soles of her boots.
For something that enormous, this was practically point-blank range.
Am I really going to die here? Frustration and grievance twisted Lily's features.
She had endured decades of loneliness and torment. This wasn't the ending she had anticipated, and she refused to accept it.
"Let's talk!" Lily shouted. "If you help me become the Light God, I'll give you every bit of energy within me!"
Lily still tried to reason with the glowing orb, but it showed no response. It seemed as though devouring all the energy within Lily was its instinctive reaction.
Hold on a moment. Instinctive? Lily's mind raced, replaying every moment since the glowing orb appeared within sight.
The moment when it dived at the ice. The way it orbited. The way it chased after her. The glowing orb didn't seem to have any intelligence.
Is it actually after me or just the energy within me?
If it's the latter… Does that mean that if I can separate the energy from my body and use it as bait, it would stop chasing me?
At this thought, Lily took action immediately. She didn't want to die, and she didn't have many options on hand.
A massive chunk of energy within Lily was rapidly forced out and condensed into a large glowing sphere. Lily then sent it hurtling to the side.
Evidently, Lily had hit the nail on the head. The massive, glaring orb hot on her heels decisively abandoned her—a human without any value—and soared toward the detached energy.
Though she had temporarily escaped from her perilous predicament, Lily was facing another problem. Without the Light God's energy supporting her, her stamina was rapidly dropping.
Her vision blurred as her limbs started to grow numb. The Light God's energy was the very force that kept her alive. Having lost too much of it, the chill from the surroundings was seeping into her.
Lily shook her head hard as she kicked herself upward. Fortunately, this time, the layer of the seal was broken, and she could finally break through the water's surface.
With her upper half above water, Lily gasped for breath. A thought crossed her mind. This won't do. I have to find Mr. Charles of this plane and warn him about everything here.
This was no longer a battle of pride. Yet, it was a challenge for her. With her energy depleted, she couldn't fly at all.
If she couldn't find any other way, her fate would be to freeze to death in the sea.
Lily peered downward and saw that after the massive orb consumed the energy, it merely floated motionless in the water without moving away from its spot.
After absorbing nearly all the energy within Lily's body, it instantly transformed into a dazzling sun and illuminated its surroundings.
At this moment, the previously dark Subterranean Sea was bathed in light once again. Even the previously bone-chilling water began to warm up.
Shocked, Lily stared wide-eyed at the scene before her. She had seen this when she was just resurrected. The glowing orb now looked remarkably like the Light God she once knew.

For a split second, she almost felt as though the Light God from before had been revived.
Could He be the Light God? Has He not died? A strange thought took root in Lily's mind. It was just a guess, but Lily hoped it was true. The former Light God cared so much about all of humanity. If He were resurrected, He would surely help Mr. Charles.
"Hmph. But that thing is not the Light God. There's a world of difference between them." A familiar deep voice sounded from behind Lily.
Lily spun around. Surprise flashed across her face when she saw the young Charles of this plane, with his arms folded, standing on the sea.
"Mr. Charles, why are you here?"
Charles cast a sidelong glance at Lily before he said, "I sensed that you were thinking of me, so I came to have a look. Not bad. Though it took longer than expected, at least you found it."
He then looked upward at the distant, self-repairing ice wall.
"I think I've seen this thing before. It seemed to be a monster bred by the second-generation Foundation. Seems like they had stationed it here as a watchdog.
"Wait. Why is 010 here? And many of its bubbles are gone."
Lily's expression was listless as she swayed and sank into the water. After choking on a few gulps, she slowly regained her senses.
"If that isn't the Light God, then what is it?" Lily asked.
Noticing Lily's dejection, Charles turned his gaze onto the miniature sun beneath the water.
"Don't bother about that. Take care of yourself first. If you don't reclaim your energy soon, I doubt you'll last much longer."
The next moment, Charles's brows slightly furrowed. Without a warning, a massive tentacle formed from flesh and blood burst forth from the underwater sun and stretched several kilometers long.
